1. STABBING ATTACK AT DAMASCUS GATE
by Ido ben Porat

An Arab terrorist tried today, Friday, to commit a stabbing attack at the Damascus Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem, when he was killed by police.

From a police investigation, it appears that the terrorist, a Jordanian resident in his twenties, arrived near Damascus Gate, where he noticed border police. He advanced towards them quickly, a knife in his hand.

The fighters saw the terrorist as he approached and shot him, killing him.

The attack comes after a recent decline in stabbing attacks, though Arab terror in general has, by no means, declined.

2. ARAB CRIME ISN'T JUST ABOUT TERROR

Regavim has warned citizens of a pirate landfill that has been created next to the town of Asa'el, in the regional council of the Hevron Hills, causing pollution and disturbances, as well as disrupting residents' quality of life.

Regavim attorney Boaz Arzi wrote a letter to GOC of the Central Command, Roni Numa, and to the head of the civil administration, Brigadier General Achvat Ben-Hur, stating that "north of the town of Asa'el, on the edge of As-Samu' village, a pirate landfill has been recently started. This landfill pollutes the environment and harms local residents."

According to Arzi, the landfill was pre-planned, with preparations involving not only digging, but also heavy engineering equipment.

"No one is arguing about the fact that landfills are a very serious environmental concern, that harms both the environment and the landscape. However, in addition, the garbage dumped into this landfill is also being burned, causing the local residents - both Jewish and Arab - to suffer both from problematic odours and from possible damage to their health."

Attorney Arzi emphasized that we are not talking about the simple, dry, house garbage, that is found in every garbage bin. Indeed, the large sewage pipe prepared for this landfill is testimony to the fact that the site is also used for liquid garbage, which is "a disturbing fact when we are discussing pollution that can be absorbed deep into the earth [and] over a wide area.

"In light of your responsibility to uphold the law in this area, we hereby demand that you take action to inspect [the site] and enforce the law against the site and its many activities, including the issuance of orders, confiscation of tools [and materials], and putting an immediate stop to the progress of the situation, while working to rehabilitate the area environmentally," wrote Arzi to the GOC and to the head of the civil administration.

Oved Arad, head of the land department in Regavim, warned that "the smoke crosses virtual borders, and the liquid garbage seeps into the earth. Earth and sky pollution are not bound by virtual borders. The authorities must deal immediately with this issue, and take the criminals to court."

"Our problems with Arab criminal activity in Judea and Samaria do not end with security problems," said Hevron Hills regional council head, Yochai Damari. "It shows itself also as environmental harm, dangerous driving culture, and stealing government land. We are constantly working to bring all law enforcement bodies to deal with the issues that harm our residents, and eat away at the sovereignty of the State of Israel."

This is a repeated crime, of dumping garbage in a way that harms the residents and the environment," Damari added. "At the beginning of this year, we closed down a site like this. I thank the administration's department of inspection for helping us."

Arutz Sheva turned to the head of the civil administration, who responded that "the inspection department works to enforce [laws against] illegal buildings, including this landfill site [...] Since it is impossible to easily access the specified area, we will need to enter with operational forces."

3. CAR TERROR ATTEMPT NEAR KIRYAT ARBA
by Ido ben Porat

Two terrorists, a male and female, tried this afternoon, Friday, to commit a terror attack by running people over with their car at the Elias Junction near Kiryat Arba.

The two terrorists were shot by IDF forces, while no victims were injured.

The attack comes just after another terror attempt at Damascus Gate at the Old City of Jerusalem, where a terrorist, a Jordanian resident in his twenties, arrived near Damascus Gate, and advanced quickly towards border police at the scene, a knife in his hand.

The fighters saw the terrorist as he approached and shot him, killing him.

The attack comes after a recent decline in stabbing attacks, though Arab terror in general has, by no means, declined.

4. WING FLAP OF MISSING MALAYSIAN PLANE DISCOVERED
by Chana Roberts

After two years of searching for an answer, the large piece of debris discovered back in June was officially announced yesterday, Thursday, as definitely belonging to the Malaysia Airlines flight.

Though several pieces of debris have been found over the past two years, the only other debris that has been identified as belonging to flight MH370, was found in July 2015. That piece was found on the island of Reunion, but lacking other evidence, many people did not truly believe that the flight MH370 mystery had been solved.

The Malaysia Airlines flight disappeared in March 2014, taking 239 passengers and crew with it. As a Boeing 777, the flight had a large cabin and state-of-the-art equipment.

The outboard wing flap was found on Pemba Island, off the coast of Tanzania. According to Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai, the wing flap will undergo further examination, in an attempt to discover what caused the plane to disappear.

Malaysian authorities are still examining several other pieces of debris, found in South Africa, Rodrigues Island, Mozambique, and a territory or Mauritius.

5. 'BARAK WANTS TO REMIND US OF HIS EXISTENCE'
by Ido Ben Porat

Tourism Minister Yariv Levin (Likud) attacked former Defense Minister Ehud Barak (Labor) this morning (Friday), after Barak criticized the US-Israel aid agreement.

Barak published an article in the "Washington Post," claiming that Netanyahu, "irresponsibly harmed [Israel's] relationship with the White House - and this damage is obvious [when you see] the aid agreement."

Barak also claimed that the agreed-upon sum of 3.8 billion dollars per year, for the next ten years, is too low.

According to Levin, "They threatened us and told us, the entire time, how awful what Binyamin Netanyahu was doing for the United States, and how terrible our relationship is. When it became clear that these claims were unfounded, all that was left was the tongue-lashing. I think that this is neither professional nor honorable."

"I believe that, even in his own camp, no one takes Barak's claims seriously," Levin said. "Ehud Barak wants us to remember that he exists, and that [desire] is where his laughable and irresponsible statements are coming from," Levin added on the Army Radio.

However, the head of the Institute for National Security Studies, reserve major-general Amos Yadlin, justified Barak's criticism, because of the agreement's clause forbidding Israel from requesting addition aid from the American Congress.

"According to the agreement, the Prime Minister is forbidden to ask for any additional aid from Congress. The American government has managed to harm three birds with one bullet: AIPAC, Congress, and PM Netanyahu."

"We could have received a better aid agreement. Netanyahu gave an unnecessary speech in Congress, and we are paying the price," Yadlin said. "Barak is right. This aid agreement is much less than the previous one, it's 100 million dollars less."

6. 'HIS HEROISM SAVED LIVES'
by Tal Polon

The family of soldier Almog Shiloni, whose terrorist murderer was convicted yesterday, told Arutz Sheva of their feelings following the conviction.

"We feel good; this not-so-simple chapter has come to a close," said Yosef Shiloni, Almog's father.

"There were difficult decisions and testimonies. We needed to see that cruel terrorist in court degrade us and the honor of the court, and it's good this is coming to an end. The sentencing certainly reflects what was said during the proceedings."

Soldier Almog Shiloni was murdered at the entrance to Tel Aviv's Hahagana train station. His murderer was Nur al-Din Abu Hashiya, an 18-year-old from Shechem (Nablus) in Samaria who had illegally entered into sovereign Israeli territory. Al-Din stabbed Shiloni numerous times, including in the upper body and waist, as Shiloni tried to fight him off, but Shiloni eventually died of his wounds.

"During the trial, the heroism of Almog kept coming up, as he kept holding on to his weapon despite the heavy blows he was receiving [...] The terrorist admitted that he had planned to take Almog's gun and murder everybody [...] We received in Almog's name a certificate of appreciation from Air Force Commander Gen. [Amir] Eshel for Almog's heroism, saying that he had saved lives," Yosef noted.

After Almog's death, his family decided to erect a house for lone soldiers in Almog's honor in Modiin. "Today, four [lone] soldiers [those soldiers whose families don't live in Israel or can't provide support] live there and get the best treatment possible from the community, and every soldier there has an adoptive family," Yosef said. "We feel that Almog is accompanying us even in these moments, and we see a great blessing in this house."

7. JEWISH WOMAN ESCAPES ISIS
by Chana Roberts

Baher Muhammed Gahar-Fur, 35, arrived in Israel a month ago, after a long and arduous journey from her home in Kurdistan.

Though her great-grandparents immigrated to Israel decades ago, Gahar-Fur didn't always know she was Jewish. In fact, growing up in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in Iraqi Kurdistan, Gahar-Fur only learned her true identity about ten years ago. "I grew up in a standard Muslim home," she said.

Gahar-Fur was married to a Muslim man at the age of 15, and her four children are currently aged 16, 15, 11 and 5.

At the beginning, things went well. But when her husband started showing extremist leanings, and pressured her to participate in his new interests, things started to change. Her unwillingness to go along with his new direction raised her husband's ire.

Three months ago, the violence peaked. After a long night, filled with horrendous violence, her husband announced that he was selling her for $2,200. She would now belong to the ISIS fighters who were making their way through the village.

At that point, Gahar-Fur made the decision that changed her life. After her husband left for work, she packed a suitcase and left. She did not - could not - take her children with her. Though Turkey does not allow entry to citizens of Kurdistan, Gahar-Fur managed to smuggle herself in, after joining a group of illegal Syrian refugees.

MIraculously, shortly after she arrived in Turkey, she met Domenz, an Israeli businessman, who heard her story and reached out to help. Domenz had been born in Turkey and is thought to have connections in the Turkish government. Domenz provided Gahar-Fur with a place to live, and notified the Israeli government of the story.

To his credit, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri (Shas), instructed that Gahar-Fur be brought to Israel immediately. Deri asked to hear the entire story from Gahar-Fur herself and the meeting took place on Thursday.

Gahar-Fur is currently living in the cooperative community of Patish, in the south of Israel, where she has extended family. The Interior Ministry is currently checking her roots and papers, for the purpose of issuing her permanent residency and an Israeli identity card. Deri also mentioned that he would work to locate all members of Gahar-Fur's extended family.

"This is literally about saving lives," Deri said. "It is the [halakha of] redemption of captives in a true and absolute sense."

Wrapping herself in an Israeli flag, Gahar-Fur said, "I love Israel, and want to be reunited with my family."

8. MAN ATTACKS OFFICERS WITH MEAT CLEAVER IN MANHATTAN

A police officer on Thursday shot a man carrying a meat cleaver near Macy's in New York City, a police source said, according to ABC News.

Officers ordered the man -- spotted on 32nd Street and Broadway, blocks away from the department store -- to drop the cleaver and opened fire when he did not, the source said.

The suspect was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center, according to the source, and is listed in critical condition.

The incident took place around 5:00 p.m. local time on Thursday.

One officer suffered a laceration to the head and a second officer may have been grazed, the source told ABC News.

Both officers were taken to Bellevue Hospital Center with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

"Officers in midtown Manhattan encountered a man with meat cleaver. Officers discharged several rounds striking the suspect," NYPD spokesman J. Peter Donald said, according to BNO News.

"One officer was struck with the meat cleaver and transported to an area hospital. The suspect was also hit by an officer."

A large police presence was seen in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood following the incident, the background to which remains unclear.
