1. ATTEMPTED TERROR ATTACK NEAR HEVRON
by Arutz Sheva Staff

On Friday afternoon, a 14-year-old Muslim terrorist attempted to carry out a stabbing attack at Elias Junction, near Kiryat Arba.

Nobody was hurt, and the terrorist was successfully neutralized.

Apparently, the terrorist tried to sneak into the hitchhiking stop from the back. He managed to pull out his knife, but security forces, who are always present in the area, shot him in the foot.

Malachi Levinger, who heads the Kiryat Arba-Hevron council, said, "On the eve of the holy Shabbat, a dangerous and vile person has again tried to murder Jews near the entrance to Kiryat Arba-Hevron. Thank God, our devoted security forces managed to neutralize him before he caused any harm."

"Just a few days ago, we had a meal of thanksgiving in this exact place, to thank G-d for the open miracles that we witness almost every day," Levinger remarked. "The people of Kiryat Arba-Hevron are strong in spirit and will not be scared by the attempts of these violent [people] to murder us. However, we call upon the leaders of this country to do more to prevent terrorists from attempting to disrupt our daily lives."

Two days ago, a female Muslim terrorist, aged 13, attempted to carry out a stabbing attack at Eliyahu Crossing, near the town of Alfei Menashe in Samaria. The terrorist appeared at the car checkpoint, walking and carrying a suspicious bag.

Pedestrians are not allowed near checkpoints intended for cars.

Security guards from the Crossings Authority of the Defense Ministry told her several times to stop. When she did not listen, they fired warning shots. After she ignored these as well, the guards shot her in the foot. She was injured very lightly.

A sapper who checked the female terrorist's bag did not find anything, but the suspect herself told us, "I came here to die."

Yesterday, in an interview with Channel 2, she claimed that she had no intention of carrying out an attack. Instead, she had come to see the place where her aunt had been shot a year before, after trying to stab security guards.

2. NETANYAHU: CHANGE IS COMING TO THE UN
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly in Manhattan on Thursday, minutes after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas spoke at the international body, accusing Israel of "executing" Arabs and undermining the peace process.

"What I'm about to say will shock you," said Netanyahu, "Israel has a bright future in the UN."

While offering this optimistic appraisal of Israel's future in the United Nations, the Prime Minister also noted a litany of biases in the international body against the Jewish state.

"Now, I know that hearing that from me must surely come as a surprise, because year after year I've stood at this very podium and slammed the UN for its obsessive bias against Israel. And the UN deserved every scathing word. For the disgrace of the General Assembly, that last year passed 20 resolutions against the democratic State of Israel, and a grand total of three resolutions against all the other countries on the planet. Israel: 20, rest of the world: 3.

And what about the joke of the UN Human Rights Council, which each year condemns Israel more than all the countries of the world combined? As women are being systematically raped, murdered, and sold into slavery across the world, which is the only country that the UN's Commission chose to condemn this year? Yep, you guessed it, Israel. Israel, where women fly fighter jets, lead major corporations, head universities, preside - twice - over the Supreme Court, and have served as Speaker of the Knesset and Prime Minister."

Nevertheless, Netanyahu emphasized that a change in the United Nations' behavior towards Israel was inevitable, and would come in the near future.

"You probably think 'nothing will ever change, right?' Well think again. Everything will change, and a lot sooner than you think. The change will happen in this hall because back home your governments are rapidly changing their attitudes towards Israel. And sooner or later, that's going to change the way you vote on Israel at the UN."

"Lay down your arms - the war against Israel at the United Nations has ended."

Netanyahu also responded directly to claims made by Abbas just minutes prior to his own address, in which the Palestinian Authority leader accused Israel of "destroying" any chance for a peace agreement through the expansion of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.

"This conflict is not about the settlements, it never was," Netanyahu said. "The issue of settlements is a real one, which must and can be resolved in final status negotiations."

3. OTTAWA TO RECEIVE NEW HOLOCAUST MONUMENT
by Dalit Halevi

Canada's new national Holocaust monument, called "A View of Loss, a Remembrance of Survival," will be officially inaugurated next year.

On September 21, Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, participated in a ceremony honoring the site of the Holocaust Monument in Ottawa.

"It's important for the Canadian people and the entire world, to remember the suffering and murder of millions of Jews and other peoples, that took place during the Holocaust. We must never forget the victims' tales, and the important lessons that the Holocaust has taught us," Trudeau said.

"As Canadians and as citizens of the world, we have an obligation to fight the hatred and fear that feed much of our actions. We must guarantee that tolerance and pluralism will always win over anti-Semitism and racism. We are obligated to honor the strength of hose who survived this test, and who have contributed much to Canada and other countries," he said.

Minister of Canadian Heritage Melanie Joly, said, "The national monument will serve as a testimony to the suffering of millions. These people lost their lives and their families in the Holocaust, and the monument will tell the stories of those who came to Canada and rebuilt their lives. This monument will remind Canada's future generations of the lessons we learned in the Holocaust, and will preserve the victims' legacy. We must never take for granted our freedom, multiculturalism and our moral obligations as people."

4. JERUSALEM EVENT COMMEMORATES MURDERED HENKIN COUPLE
by Hezki Baruch

On Thursday night, a memorial was held for Naama and Eitam Henkin, murdered last year in a brutal shooting attack while they drove home from visiting friends. Their four children were in the back of the car and saw their parents murdered, but the terrorists, who approached the car after the shooting to verify the parents' deaths, inexplicably, spared the children.

The memorial began in the cemetery, and from there, the procession made their way to Nishmat's campus in Jerusalem. Nishmat is a women's institute for training halakhic advisors established by Rabbi Eitam's mother, Rabbanit Chana Henkin.

Eitam's mother spoke at the event, saying, "Naama enchanted him from the first day. The two of them walked together and helped each other blossom. They were partners in everything. Naama supported the family so that our son could learn Torah. She was regal; I never once saw her raise her voice."

Sharona Friedman, a close friend of Naama's, told: "I was always amazed at the amount of knowledge that Naama had. My friends and I have felt the lack of her presence. When we were 14, Naama and I sat together in the front row in class. Since then, we had never been separated."

"I saw how Naama and Eitam completed each other. Naama and I did our National Service together, and we spoke about life: buying a home, building a family, our dreams for the future. Naama taught me to dare to dream. She gave me strength," Sharona added.

Friedman said that the last time she saw Naama was in Peduel, on Rosh Hashana, just a few days before the horrific attack in which her friend was murdered.

"On the 19th of Tishrei (the day she was murdered), Naama's clock stopped. A year has passed since then, a year of mourning and longing," she said. "How can it be that Naama will not merit to live these beautiful years, and to raise her children? In her, I had a true friend. I can't begin to describe the enormous lack I've felt in the past year since you've left me."

Deganit Staniyesky, another friend of Naama's, said that "a year ago, the world of graphic design lost a talented graphic artist. The lack that I feel is beyond description. I think that anyone who merited knowing Naama and hearing her wisdom feels the same way."

"I think that everyone can learn from Naama's life. Look around. See if there is anyone who needs help. Lend a hand, give a kind word. If someone needs help, offer it from the depths of your heart," Staniyesky added.

Last Sukkot, terrorists opened fire on the Henkin car on the road near Itamar, murdering Naama and Eitam Henkin in front of their children. Rescue workers who arrived at the scene took the traumatized children to their grandparents' home in nearby Peduel. They are being raised by their grandparents.

5. TAX AUTHORITY TAKES DOWN NOTICE ABOUT 'AVRECH' SUSPECT
by Haim Lev

MK Yisrael Eichler (UTJ), recently received a request regarding a case published on the Tax Authority's website. On their site, Tax Authority had mentioned that the suspect was an "avrech" (married yeshiva student).

In response, Eichler turned to the Tax Authority and explained the severity of the problem. According to him, the fact that the label "avrech" was used, harms an entire community.

"Just like a suspect's ethnicity or location cannot be publicized, so, too, it is forbidden to publish which sector he belongs to. Writing that he is an 'avrech' feeds into a negative stereotype," Eichler said.

The Tax Authority has since removed the offending content.

"A community which has forgiven its honor - its honor is not forgiven. We must protest every insult and insist that the situation be rectified immediately. With determination and polite requests, we will achieve results," Eichler said.

7. MIKVEH IMMERSION TO BE PERMITTED WITHOUT ATTENDANT
by Chaim Lev

A directive to be issued in the coming days by the Ministry of Religious Services will contain the order that women are to be allowed to immerse in Ministry-run mikvehs without the presence of an attendant.

The directive, published Friday morning in the Yisrael Hayom newspaper, stipulates that despite the fact that a ruling by the Rabbinate states that attendants must be present at all mikveh immersions, if a woman requests privacy, her request should be fulfilled.

"According to the ruling by the Israel Chief Rabbinate, any immersion by a woman requires the presence of an attendant. Even when an attendant is present, the woman's privacy must be respected," the directive reads, noting that it is possible for the attendant to only come in when the woman is actually immersed in the mikveh. "It is true that the absence of an attendant may have serious repercussions vis-a-vis the ritual validity of the immersion."

For a ritual immersion to be valid for purposes of family purity (Taharat Hamishpacha), halakha mandates that someone else be present to verify that the immersion was done properly.

The directive goes on, however, to clarify that if a woman demands that no attendant be present, she should not be opposed.

"If a woman expressly requests to immerse in the mikveh without the presence of an attendant or anyone else - she should not be prevented from doing so, though it should be made clear - with the requisite sensitivity - that the responsibility for the validity of the immersion then falls on the woman herself. The attendant shouldn't pester the woman beyond clarifying the aforementioned consequences of her decision."

8. NETANYAHU OFFERS ISRAELI TECHNOLOGY TO AFRICAN NATIONS
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Thursday held a special event on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly focusing on Israeli innovation in Africa and developing countries.

The event, which was hosted by the Prime Minister and was an initiative of Ambassador Danon, presented the latest developments from the Start-Up Nation to heads of state and ambassadors from around the world.

The Israeli companies presented their innovations before more than 15 presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers from Africa and developing countries.

Dozens of ambassadors, senior UN officials and representatives from the private sector also took part in the event.

Speaking at the event, Netanyahu said, "I believe that Israel can be an amazing partner for your countries. Technology changes everything. And technology is related to so many areas: to healthcare, agriculture, education, and so much more. We want to share our knowledge and technology with the world."

In his remarks, Ambassador Danon said, "We are continuing to focus on technologies and innovations that have helped propel Israel to its status as a Startup Nation. Our relationships with these nations are not just based on the traditional trade of goods, but on the aspirations of young people filled with the desire to better their countries and improve the world."
