1. ISRAEL REMEMBERS 9/11
by Yoni Kempinski
A memorial ceremony for the victims of the September 11th, 2001 attacks is being held at the Jewish National Fund 9/11 Living Memorial.
Ronald Lauder, Chairman of JNF-USA:
"On September 11th, 2001, Americans showed a great courage and bravery, risking and giving their lives to save people that they never met. This is a courage that Israelis can understand. The soul of a free people will always rise over hate. Liberty will always triumph, because people fundamentally want to be free."

2. 9/11 DORM ROOM VIDEO GOES VIRAL 15 YEARS LATER
by Guy Cohen
[youtube:2019030]
The video was originally uploaded in 2009 but just recently went viral. Driers was a student at NYU on the morning of 9/11. She awoke to the sound of the first attack at 8:46 am. She picked up the video camera her parents gave her one day earlier and began to film.
Driers and her roommate, Meghan, remain relatively calm as they attempt to figure out if there has been an accident or explosion. The young women scream in horror once the second plane hits and it's clear that this is an act of terror. Driers continues to film, capturing the second attack before evacuating her dorm room.
Driers gave the footage to the New York municipality and it has been integrated into a documentary that was featured on the American History Channel.
According to The Daily Buzz, the video went viral over the month of May 2016. At the time there were 6 million views and, currently, the video has 15 million views.
3. 'AS LONG AS THE TERRORIST IS MOVING, HE'S A THREAT'
by Shlomo Pyutrokowsky
"The commanders didn't know what to do," stated T.S., the Platoon Sergeant who commanded Sgt. Elor Azaria, the soldier who is on trial for shooting and killing a wounded terrorist in Hevron.
The Platoon Sergeant, who has now completed his service, testified this morning in Azaria's defense stating that "as long as the terrorist is moving, he is a threat."
The defense lawyer questioned the Platoon Sergeant regarding his familiarity with Azaria and he testified that Azaria was not known as an individual who expressed firm opinions against Palestinians.
The Platoon Sergeant verified that the brigade commander and other high-ranking officers, including representatives from the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, debriefed the platoon after the incident and affirmed that the episode was indeed very serious.
"I felt like my superiors were trying to protect their own reputations because they hadn't briefed us correctly beforehand."
The Platoon Sergeant was questioned about the incident and he emphasized the lack of order and lack of command that occurred immediately after.
"There were several commanders," he stated, "they apparently didn't know what to do either. None of them brought order to the chaos."
4. NETANYAHU: INTERNET IS BLESSING TO HUMANITY, BUT ALSO A CURSE
by Shai Landesman
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this morning (Sunday, 11 September 2016), at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting, mentioned the 15-year anniversary of 9/11, 2001, paying homage to the victims and speaking about the continued necessity of combating Islamic terror around the world:
"Today we mark 15 years since the terrorist attacks on 9/11. We remember the victims. We embrace their loved ones. We stand with our greatest ally, the United States of America, and with other partners in the battle against militant Islamic terrorism that spreads its fear, its dread, its murder, around the world. Our memories are long, our determination is boundless. Civilized societies must band together to defeat these forces of darkness, and I'm sure we will."
Netanyahu focused on the fight against terror on the social media front. Security experts have repeatedly warned that Facebook and Twitter are being used by terror groups to spread incitement to violence.
"The fight against terrorism is also being waged on the social networks, and a senior delegation from Facebook is currently in Israel. The goal here is to improve cooperation against incitement, the incitement to terror and murder, on the social network. The Internet has brought considerable blessing to humanity, but folded within it – to our regret – is also a curse, because terrorists and inciters are using the Internet to attack mankind. We are determined to fight these phenomena and, therefore, I welcome the cooperation, or at least the desire for cooperation, that Facebook is showing, and we hope that these will lead to better results."
Next was the topic of reform in the social services.
"Today, the Cabinet will approve a process to improve the social services that the Government provides to the citizens of Israel, by outsourcing these services. This was raised as a main subject by the Trachtenberg Committee and today we are implementing it. We will see to it that the tenders for the social services of the State of Israel, for the citizens of Israel, concentrate on the best result for the citizen – the citizen is at the center.
I would like to congratulate all those who were involved in this important step – the ministers of Finance, Health, Social Services and Social Welfare, Immigrant Absorption, Education and Justice, as well as those third sector non-profit associations. Thank you to you all. This is an important moment and, I think, an important turning point as well."
Last, but not least, came the Israeli Paralympic athletes. The Prime Minister made sure to praise their accomplishments in getting off the games to a good start. Israel has historically had far greater success at the Paralympics than at the Olympics. Netanyahu urged the nation to pay attention and support the Israeli delegation.
"I would like to congratulate the Israeli athletes at the Paralympics. They represent the Israeli spirit at its best. I call on the citizens of Israel to watch the games and see our athletes. Israel television broadcasts any live broadcast of all Israeli athletes participating in these games. There is also a daily half hour summary, and we are now working to try to bring the games to everyone on the internet. Watch the games, support our athletes. They are simply heroes. Good luck to them."
5. MAN CONVICTED OF INCITEMENT AGAINST HAREDI SOLDIER
by Haim Lev
Combating incitement against haredi soldiers: A court convicted a man today (Sunday) after he called "Hardak" at a haredi soldier during prayers at a synagogue in the Ezra neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Hardak is a slur used by extremist elements in the haredi community against haredi soldiers. The term is meant to signify that the soldier is a traitor to his community by being easily swayed by "evil" outside forces. The term comes from a hate campaign against haredi soldiers, in which posters and glossy pamphlets were produced portraying them as disease-spreading insects and pigs.
According to the indictment, the soldier had arrived at the synagogue wearing his IDF uniform, accompanied by his father. The accused started yelling "Hardak! Get out of here now, take off your Kippah! What are you doing praying here?" This while trying to convince the other worshippers at the synagogue to join him in harassing the soldier.
The indictment describes how several of the other people in the synagogue joined the cries of the accused. "Additional people called the plaintiff 'Hardak'. One of them walked toward him and tried to film him with a cellphone, while the plaintiff asked not to be filmed. At this time the accused and several others were walking toward the soldier.
"The accused punched the plaintiff in the chest several times and tried to grab his beret from his shoulder. The plaintiff's father tried to come to his aid, but the accused and his cohorts pushed the father away with punches. One of the people in the synagogue came to the aid of the soldier and his father, trying to fight off the accused and the others. The accused continued to try to physically assault the plaintiff until he heard that the police had been called, upon which he ran away."
Though the man was convicted for his verbal harassment, the court acquited him of physical assault charges due to claimed substantial contradictions between the accounts of the different witnesses. There were also contradictions in the testimony of the plaintiff himself, and thus the court found that it was impossible to convict the defendant of physical assault based on the evidence.
6. BRITISH MP ACTS TO BAN PALESTINIAN OFFICIAL FROM ENTERING UK
by Palestinian Media Watch
British Member of Parliament Joan Ryan (Labour) last week requested that the British Secretary of State Amber Rudd prohibit the entry of Palestinian Authority and Fatah leader Jibril Rajoub into Britain. MP Ryan's appeal is a result of Palestinian Media Watch's report "The Jibril Rajoub File" published last month, which documents Rajoub's public glorification of terror and incitement to murder Israelis during the recent terror wave.
In her letter to the British Home Department, MP Joan Ryan wrote:
"The Home Secretary has the power to deny entry to Britain to any non-UK national who seeks to foment, justify or glorify terrorist violence or seeks to provoke others to terrorist acts... I wish to draw your attention to the statements of Jibril Rajoub, a member of Fatah's Central Committee and head of the Palestinian Olympic Committee... I attach a dossier of information compiled by Palestinian Media Watch about Jibril Rajoub. As you will see, he has a long and consistent history of making statements which seek to incite terrorism and glorify its perpetrators. I believe that a statement from your department making clear that Jibril Rajoub will be prohibited from entering the UK will send an unequivocal message that Britain does not and will not tolerate the promotion of terrorism."
The PMW report referred to by MP Ryan includes over 20 pages of examples of Rajoub's statements and activities promoting terror, prohibiting peace-building events, and glorifying terrorists, such as the examples below:
[youtube:2019036]
"I say that whoever carried out individual acts of heroism (i.e., referring to terror attacks), we in the Fatah Movement bless and encourage them. We consider them heroes and a crown on the head of every Palestinian... beginning with our brother Muhannad Halabi (who murdered 2 - Ed.)..."
[Official PA TV, Jan. 2, 2016]
[youtube:2010151]
"The international community does not agree to a bus exploding in Tel Aviv. But the international community does not ask what happens to a settler or soldier in the occupied territories at the wrong time and in the wrong place. No one asks about him! Therefore, we want to fight in such a way that the world and the international community will remain by our side."
[Official PA TV, Oct. 17, 2015]
In 2005, the British Home Office recognized glorification of terror as one among several "unacceptable behaviours." The Home Secretary is empowered to bar an individual engaging in one or more of these "unacceptable behaviours" from entry to British soil:
"The power to deny a person the ability to enter the UK is an important tool... Individuals can be excluded... under the unacceptable behaviours or extremism exclusion policy."
"The list of unacceptable behaviours... covers any non-UK national in the UK or abroad who uses any means ... to express views which: foment, justify or glorify terrorist violence in furtherance of particular beliefs; seek to provoke others to terrorist acts..."
[House of Commons Briefing Paper , Number 7035, July 21, 2016, emphasis added]
Jibril Rajoub's statements and actions during the recent terror wave as documented by PMW clearly put him in this category.
PMW has shared the documentation of Jibril Rajoub's terror support with other MPs as well, and similar action may be pursued in other countries.
7. IDENTITY OF HILLARY CLINTON'S 'MYSTERIOUS HANDLER' REVEALED
by Guy Cohen
[youtube:2019010]
For several weeks now, speculation has been rampant in the US regarding the identity of a large black man who is seen accompanying democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton nearly everywhere she goes.
The theories about his identity and function began to multiply when he hurried onto the stage after animal-rights activists interrupted a Clinton speech in Las Vegas on the 4th of August.
The Clinton campaign said that he was simply one of the Secret Service agents in Hillary's security detail. Conservative sites, however, refused to accept this explanation, and noted that at the same Las Vegas event, the man tapped Clinton on the shoulder several times and told her "you're OK, keep talking." This is behavior that - experts say - is not at all part of the job description of a bodyguard, who is not supposed to touch his security charge unless it is a life-and-death situation.
Syringe or flashlight?
Last week the man accompanied Clinton when she was forced to cut short a meeting with journalists on her airplane because of a serious coughing fit. In other footage, he is seen supporting her as she climbs stairs with difficulty. Such incidents gave rise to speculation that this is a man who also functions as Hillary's doctor. This, in turn, sparked theories that the black cylindrical object that he carried with him when accompanying her off the stage in Vegas was a syringe containing diazepam, a drug that relieves anxiety.
In the above video produced by right-wing journalist Paul Joseph Watson - who played a central role in promulgating the aforementioned theories - the man's identity is revealed: he is agent Todd Madison, of the Secret Service after all, who is serving as the head of Clinton's security detail. The "diazepam syringe" was a mere flashlight used by Madison to illuminate Clinton's path through a dark backstage area.
Despite the discrediting of most of the theories regarding the mystery man, questions about Hillary's health continue to swirl through the air, especially following the intense and public coughing fits that have been covered by the US media, including those outlets that are very much on the side of the Democratic candidate.
8. JERUSALEM MAYOR AT 9/11 MEMORIAL: I KNOW THIS PAIN WELL
by Arutz Sheva Staff
[youtube:2019031]
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat spoke today at a memorial service at the Jewish National Fund 9/11 Living Memorial for the victims of the attacks in New York and Washington, marking the 15-year anniversary.
Mayor Barkat spoke about his own experience on the day, in which he was in New York for business meetings, and the shared experience of Israel and the US, Jerusalem and New York, in confronting and combating terror.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, I landed in New York for a few days of business meetings.
I sat with my business partners in New Jersey overlooking Manhattan. In the middle of the meeting, we heard that the Twin Towers had been hit. When we went outside, we saw the Towers engulfed in flames, then fall. That Tuesday was one of the toughest and saddest days of my life.
In the days that followed, I saw the grief & the pain, but also the bravery of the men and women of New York, fighting day by day to put their city back on track.
As a Jerusalemite, as an Israeli, I felt a deep connection. I know this pain well. I felt it with you.
As Mayor of Jerusalem, I know you feel the same when terror strikes our city. There is a deep sense of empathy, of understanding, of friendship between our peoples. This profound connection led us to develop the only 9/11 memorial outside US, here in Jerusalem.
From here we stand together with NY, with shared values, a shared purpose for creating a better world, sharing our pain together for the loss of our loved ones, with a shared clear message of combating terror globally.
The strategic goal of the terrorists who killed thousands on that fateful day in September was to destroy our way of life! They seek to turn our streets into battlefields, our freedoms into fear, our unity into discord.
They failed. They failed in New York, and they failed in Jerusalem. They failed in Paris, in Brussels and all around the globe.
Hatred did not win 15 years ago. hatred does not win today. Hatred will fail in the future. Each time the terrorists seek to hurt us, to target our civilians, to strain our bonds of friendship around the world, we have stood together.
We have shown the terrorists that they will not tear us apart. They will not destroy our way of life. They will not win.
On behalf of the residents of Jerusalem and Israel, We stand together, we remember together.
