1. NETANYAHU IN DUTCH PARLIAMENT: SETTLEMENTS AREN'T THE PROBLEM

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met Wednesday afternoon with Dutch journalists during his visit to the Dutch parliament in The Hague.

Most of the press conference was dedicated to questions regarding the Israeli-Arab conflict and the refusal of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

"Their problem is not the West Bank," said Netanyahu, "their problem is our very existence."

"We left the Gaza Strip, and what happened there? Hamastan. The Palestinians want also Akko, Jaffa, and Tel Aviv."

"The Palestinians and Mahmoud Abbas do not accept the existence of the State of Israel. The Palestinians celebrate the murderous terrorism, whether in Israel or around the world, and they name their streets after the murderers."

"The central problem is that the Palestinians do not accept and do not want a Jewish state [to exist]."

The Prime Minister added that even projects that would benefit the Palestinian Authority were hampered by Arab irredentism.

"I want to build a road or a bridge that will connect Ramallah to Bethlehem and shorten the trip [between them]. And who doesn't accept [the project]? The Palestinians. Why? Because they are bothered by Maaleh Adumim, with its 50,000 residents."

"The settlements are not the problem in the Middle East; when we left Gaza the conflict didn't end. The whole world sees the changes in the Arab world that don't bode well for peace."

Netanyahu emphasized that Israel's primary concern in any possible future final status arrangement is "to preserve the security of the State of Israel." He added that he "agreed with the Dutch proposal to bring in goods – fuel, etc. – to Gaza."

2. AHMED TIBI VISITS TOP TERRORIST IN PRISON
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Knesset Member Ahmed Tibi of the Joint Arab List recently visited terrorist mastermind Marwan Barghouti in the Hadarim prison.

Voice of Israel correspondent Gal Berger reports that Barghouti told Tibi that he supports holding local elections in the PA-controlled territories, and added that these local elections must lead to general parliamentary and presidential elections.

The terrorist leader also said that he "supports diplomatic efforts that will lead to the end of the occupation and the release of prisoners."

Recently, MK Yousef Jabareen also visited Barghouti. It should be noted that despite repeated appeals to the Knesset Speaker and to the Knesset Ethics Committee, no significant sanctions are levied against MKs who visit terrorists in prison.

Marwan Barghouti is responsible for the terror attack at the gas station in Givat Ze'ev, in which Yoela Hen was murdered. The indictment against Barghouti states that the attack was carried out on his direct order, as revenge for the killing of the terrorist Raed Karmi.

Barghouti was also convicted of planning the attack in Ma'aleh Adumim in which a Greek Orthodox priest was murdered. He also was behind the attack in the Seafood Market restaurant, in which three Israelis were murdered.

He also continues to regularly incite to violence against Israel from his prison cell.

3. ISRAELI JEWS OVERWHELMINGLY SUPPORT ELOR AZARIYA
by David Rosenberg

Israeli Jews overwhelmingly support Elor Azariya, the soldier indicted for shooting a wounded Arab terrorist this March, and generally tend to favor a policy of killing terrorists on the spot, rather than taking them into custody.

The findings were revealed in a new Tel Aviv University/Israel Democracy Institute poll released Wednesday afternoon.

According to the survey, 64.8% of Israeli Jews said they justified or "very much justified" Azariya's actions, compared to just 25.3% who said his actions were not justified. Ten percent had no opinion.

A narrow plurality of Israeli Jews also said they favored a general policy of killing terrorists at the scene of attacks, rather than making efforts to capture and prosecute them. Nearly half (46.8%) said they supported such a change, while 44.9% said that once a terrorist is no longer an immediate threat, he or she should be arrested.

A majority of Jews (51.5%) also endorsed the declaration by some reserve soldiers not to participate in reserve duty until Azariya is cleared of charges and freed, while 43.5% opposed the reservists' refusal to serve.

4. DUTCH MP REFUSES TO SHAKE HANDS WITH ISRAELI PM
by David Rosenberg

A Dutch parliament member and pro-migrant activist refused to shake hands with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Wednesday morning, during the latter's visit to the Dutch parliament.

Kuzu, a former member of the Dutch Labor Party, is aligned with the DENK immigrant advocacy movement.

When Netanyahu offered his hand to the Turkish-born Kuzu, the MP refused, leading the Prime Minister to make an about-face, turning his back on Kuzu.

According to the Dutch NU.nl news website, Kuzu also wore a button bearing the PLO flag.

On Facebook, Kuzu explained his actions, condemning the Israeli leader for the 2014 war with Hamas.

"While the streets of Gaza were reddened by blood that splashed out of the veins of children in the summer of 2014, the red carpet is rolled out here. That deserves no handshake, but a reference to #FreePalestine."

5. CHIEF RABBI LAU PERMITTED SATELLITE LAUNCH ON SHABBAT
by Reut Hadar

The explosion at the Florida launch site that inflicted irreparable damage on the Israeli "Amos 6" satellite prevented the launch of the satellite last Saturday, on Shabbat.

The haredi Kikar Hashabbat website reports that Chief Rabbi of Israel David Lau had permitted the launch of the satellite on Shabbat, due to the determination that the satellite launch is a life-saving matter. According to Jewish law, Shabbat may be violated if a life-saving issue is at hand.

During the months leading up to the planned launch date, discussions were conducted between Israel Aerospace Industry and security establishment representatives, and Chief Rabbi Lau. The Chief Rabbi was presented with a large amount of information concerning the security implication of the satellite launch.

Rabbi Lau also sent a senior figure from the IDF Rabbinate to Florida in order to examine the matter closely and instruct the Jews working at the site on how to avoid Shabbat violations in issue which aren't within the realm of life-saving matters.

7. GIRL DISABLED DURING BIRTH WINS HUGE SETTLEMENT FROM HOSPITAL
by Arutz Sheva Staff

A district court judge in Haifa, Dr. Menachem Raniel, ruled in favor of a girl left permanently disabled by complications during her birth – complications, she claims, that were a direct result of the poor judgment of a hospital official.

According to the ruling, the director of the Ziv Medical Center's delivery ward at the time of the birth had decided against performing a Caesarean section, despite signs of likely complications in a natural birth and against the recommendation of the specialist who had examined the mother.

When complications arose during the birth, doctors were forced to undertake drastic measures to free the baby from the birth canal. In the process, the baby was partially paralyzed in one arm and completely paralyzed in the other.

The Health Ministry had claimed that an X-ray image of the mother showed that a regular birth was possible, but during the course of the trial it was revealed that the X-ray image could not be found.

Judge Raniel ruled that the failure to locate the X-ray image shifted the burden of proof onto the hospital. The plaintiff was awarded roughly three million shekels ($800,000) in damages.

The judge also excoriated the former delivery ward director, who refused to read the case file during her testimony to refresh her memory, over her claims that she could not remember the details of the case.

8. B'TSELEM REP REFUSES TO CALL HAMAS TERROR ORGANIZATION
by David Rosenberg

[youtube:2018911]

The far-left NGO B'Tselem drew criticism Tuesday for its apparent refusal to condemn Hamas as a terrorist organization, as a B'Tselem representative repeatedly refused to describe characterize Hamas as a terror group during an interview with J-TV.

Sarit Michaeli, a spokeswoman for the group, appeared on J-TV on Tuesday, speaking with Alan Mendoza, director of the Henry Jackson Society, a British think-tank.

While discussing human rights violations by Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, Michaeli emphasized that "as an Israeli organization, the bulk of our research and our work and our effort goes at self-criticism – looking at our own government and our own army."

Michaeli did acknowledge that Hamas "engages in clear terrorist acts when it bombs Israeli civilians", but evaded Mendoza's repeated attempts to elicit a clear response from her regarding B'Tselem's stance on Hamas.

"Is Hamas a terrorist organization?" Mendoza queried.

Michaeli quickly became defensive, denouncing what she described as an attempt "to smear us as terrorist-sympathizers, which is unacceptable."

The B'Tselem rep also referenced a 2014 interview then-journalist and now former Yisrael Beytenu MK Sharon Gal held with B'Tselem director Haggai Elad. When presented with the same question, Elad also refused to characterize Hamas as a terrorist organization.

"We're talking about armed Palestinian organizations; that is the professional term, and we criticize their activities when they are illegal."

Michaeli blasted Gal as "an Israeli extremist right-wing Member of Knesset".

Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip, has been labelled a terrorist organization by not only the Israeli government, but the US, UK, EU, Egypt, Japan, Jordan, and a number of Gulf states.
