NETANYAHU: 'THERE IS A PRICE FOR USING CHEMICAL WEAPONS' by Nitsan Keidar Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu related this morning at the opening of the weekly cabinet meeting to the US attack on Syria. "Israel gives its full support to the American attack on Syria," Netanyahu opened. "We do so for ethical reasons, in light of the difficult pictures from Idlib, and also so that it will be clear: there is a price for using chemical weapons." Netanyahu brought up the fact that "there still exists an international obligation from 2013 to remove all chemical weapons from Syria. As we can see, it has not yet been implemented." He called on the international community to "complete the work," noting that "this is an excellent opportunity for US-Russian cooperation on this specific issue." "This work needs to be completed," the PM emphasized, noting, "Israel is treating injured persons from Syria, and we will continue to do so." 2. MURDERED RABBI'S LOST SPEECH by Refael Levi [video:2026717] Arutz Sheva received a short clip showing murdered Rabbi Nehemia Lavi encouraging soldiers before they began a training session on Israel's Independence Day. The video was taken during a training course for IDF rabbis, in which Rabbi Lavi participated shortly before he was killed. Rabbi Nehemia Lavi, 41, was murdered in a stabbing attack which took place in Jerusalem's Old City on October 3, 2015. A father of seven, he saw a terrorist attacking a young haredi couple and their baby and rushed from his home to try to save them, but was stabbed to death by the terrorist. In the film he is seen saying: "Everyone at home is barbecuing, and we're stuck here with our weapons, in the dust and heat. It's a real bummer. But it can also be the opportunity of a lifetime." "Right now, we can start to understand what's happening, and the true importance of why we're here. For thousands of years we weren't a nation, we were sick, we were scattered all over the earth, and we didn't care about each other "Sixty-seven years ago, after a very long process, we came back here. We're together. We care about each other. "And the best part is that we're training here, training to fight the next war, to protect our people. "We are the crowning glory of all of this. We're the ones who have the most love for each other, we're the ones who have the most love for our nation. May G-d bless us with success." 3. RABBINIC GROUP COMMENDS VP MIKE PENCE FOR REMARKS ON MARRIAGE by Arutz Sheva Staff The Coalition for Jewish Values issued a wholehearted commendation to Vice President Mike Pence last week for setting a model example of spousal conduct. The Vice President remarked that he does not dine alone with women other than his wife, and that he does not attend events at which alcohol is served unless his wife is with him. Astoundingly, this has been regarded as controversial in some circles, with multiple op-ed writers even describing it as discriminatory against women. On the contrary, the practices articulated by Mr. Pence closely mirror the simple common-sense measures mandated by Jewish Law in order to promote virtuous and safe interactions between the genders. CJV Senior Rabbinic Fellow Rabbi Avrohom Gordimer commented, "It is refreshing to read about a public personality who unabashedly advances family values, and whose personal conduct is a step above the average as well. We are inundated with news stories of infidelity and broken marriages of celebrities and politicians, yet the Vice President and his wife proudly buck the trend to affirm traditional and moral values." Rabbi Aryeh Spero, CJV Senior Rabbinic Fellow elaborated: "I remember the days when then-Congressman Mike Pence decided on his common sense and safe approach to public socializing and private meetings. There were scandals back then rocking Washington over the activities of certain politicians, some true and some manufactured by beltway opportunists. I think the Pence policy was and remains a wise one. "There are certain detractors who wish to paint this as prudish or religious fundamentalist. It is not. It represents an often necessary and cautious approach to social relationships between the genders, a safeguarding of one's marriage, and a recognition of the valor and mindfulness needed by both men and women to be circumspect. It is not, as some political opponents maliciously assert, a "terror of men over women." No woman working for Mike Pence over the years has ever lost a job opportunity by being on his staff. In fact, they were afforded great respect and some that I knew rose to high staff positions. "Best of all, the Mike Pence I've known since the Bush presidency years has had a deep and special marital bond with his wife. The Pences have it right." The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), a national organization representing over 100 rabbis serving the American Jewish community in congregations, academic institutions, and Jewish organizations across the United States and Canada, articulates an authentic Jewish perspective on current events, and promotes Jewish values through writing and teaching derived from traditional Jewish thought. 4. 'THE US IS PLANNING TO ELIMINATE KIM JONG-UN by Chana Roberts US intelligence agencies are finalizing a plan to eliminate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, an anonymous high-level Pentagon source said. One source claims that according to a leaked document, the US plan includes disguising a small building opposite Kim's primary office in the DPRK building. The disguise would turn the smaller building into a "Pizza Hut" selling both normal and poisoned pizzas. According to a South Korean military official, the US will work under South Korean command. US special agents will form a special brigade under South Korean command, which the natives would tailor to meet the area's unique requirements. Speaking about the possibility of eliminating Kim, US Navy Admiral James Stavridis, who also served as NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, said, "decapitation is always a tempting strategy when you're faced with a highly unpredictable and highly dangerous leader. "The question you have to ask yourself is what happens the day after you decapitate? I think that in North Korea, it's an enormous unknown." In March, UN Ambassador Nikki Haley warned that the US had not ruled out military action as an option to eliminate North Korea as a nuclear threat. Trump also told reporters he would "certainly be prepared to act alone against North Korea" but also said he "thinks China will want to be stepping up." The White House did not comment on the leaks, but sources in US President Donald Trump's administration said the president is outraged by the leak, which is purportedly caused by those who were previously loyal to former US President Barack Obama. 5. STOCKHOLM: THE SEDER NIGHT WILL BE HELD AS USUAL by Haim Lev After the recent terror attack in Stockholm, local Chabad emissary Rabbi Chaim Greisman expressed hope the attack would not stop Stockholm's Jews from celebrating Pesach (Passover) with the usual joy. "The attack on Friday caused a lot of panic and confusion in a city which is not used to attacks like this," Rabbi Greisman told Hamevaser newspaper. "The attack occurred on the same street on which just a few hours earlier, we had stood distributing matzot for Pesach. "Thank G-d, no Jews were injured. We wish the victims a speedy recovery, and send our condolences to the families of those killed. "This Shabbat, everyone prayed together in the synagogue. We gave each other strength and stood in unity. Our community became stronger. "We are just a few days before Pesach, and we are working nonstop to provide every Jew in Stockholm with matzot and other holiday necessities. We will continue to work as usual, and we will hold all our usual events on the same large scale. "During the first few hours after the attack, before the terrorist was caught, the Jewish community was on high alert. Two years ago there was an attack in Copenhagen, in which a terrorist murdered a Jew immediately after he carried out a terror attack somewhere else. "After the terrorist was caught, we relaxed. "We hope and pray that we will merit to celebrate this holiday of freedom with joy and happiness. We hope Moshiach (Messiah) will come to relieve our worries," Rabbi Greisman concluded. Four people were killed on Friday and 15 injured when a truck ploughed into crowds in a shopping area in central Stockholm, Sweden. The terrorist was later found to be an ISIS supporter. 6. COMING SOON: LOW-COST FLIGHTS TO THE US AND CANADA by Netanel Katz The Israeli government on Sunday approved an agreement between Israel and Iceland to immediately allow low-cost flights between Israel and the US via Iceland. The agreement was initiated by Transportation and Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud). The new flights will cost approximately $500 in total. Katz recently told Iceland's WOW air that starting in June, he intends to run four flights a week from Tel Aviv to Iceland's capital of Reykjavik. From Reykjavik, travelers will be able to transfer to flights headed to nine different destinations in North America. WOW chose Israel from a list of dozens of countries and destinations which requested the company run flights to their countries. WOW will run flights transporting passengers arriving from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport to several destinations in the US. Included in the list are Miami, New York, Chicago, Boston, Washington, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Canadian destinations include Toronto and Montr According to WOW the trip will cost between $260-280 each way. At a government meeting, Katz said the agreement between Iceland and Israel was signed as part of Israel's "Open Skies" plan. "The Open Skies agreement is part of the a revolutionary plan intended to allow Israeli consumers to fly to new destinations at low prices," Katz said. The agreement has already brought several new airlines to Israel and offered flights to several destinations at low prices. Among the new airlines are Cathay Pacific, which offers five direct weekly flights from Tel Aviv to Hong Kong, and Ryanair, which has begun offering flights to Cyprus. 7. TRUMP EXPLAINS SYRIA STRIKE TO CONGRESS by Ben Ariel President Donald Trump on Saturday sent a letter to Congress in which he explained his reasoning for ordering a missile strike on Syria this week. "I acted in the vital national security and foreign policy interests of the United States, pursuant to my constitutional authority to conduct foreign relations and as Commander in Chief and Chief Executive," Trump wrote in the letter, which was quoted by The Hill. "The United States will take additional action, as necessary and appropriate, to further its important national interests," Trump added. The letter was addressed to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI.) and Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the Senate president pro tempore. Under the War Powers Resolution, the president is required to submit an explanation for the use of force within 48 hours after military action is taken. The deadline for Trump to do so would have been Saturday night. Trump's letter echoed the comments he delivered an hour after the strikes on Thursday night, when he characterized the strikes as in the "vital national security interest" of the U.S. "It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons," Trump said at the time. A number of world leaders rallied around the American strikes on Friday, applauding the action as a necessary and proportional response to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad’s alleged use of chemical weapons in the country’s Idlib province. The Syrian government and Russia, a longtime backer of Assad, condemned the strike. A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday called the strike an act of "aggression against a sovereign state" and accused the U.S. of violating international law. 8. WATCH: IDF RUNS EXPERIMENT ON BRAND-NEW INFANTRY VEHICLE by Kobi Finkler [video:2026780] Israel's Defense Ministry together with the IDF's ground forces recently completed a series of experiments with the Haeitan infantry fighting vehicle. The experiments simulated traveling in difficult road and weather conditions, and took place both in the Negev and in the Golan Heights. Haeitan is an advanced multipurpose infantry fighting vehicle, intended for battle and various difficult road conditions. When its development is completed, Haeitan will be the most advanced and protected wheeled vehicle in the world. It will be equipped with an active advanced protection system, similar to the Merkava 4 tanks and the Namer, as well as with an additional and unique protection system. Haeitan's greatest advantage will be its excellent mobility to move in various field conditions, as well as its ability to move at a speed of 90 kilometers (56 miles) per hour or more, without treads.
