Two others, a pregnant woman in her early 30s and a man in his early 50s were injured during the attack. MDA first responders say the pregnant woman was knocked down during the attack and suffered injuries to her stomach, while the man was injured while attempting to flee the attack. The attack took place inside a north-bound light train near the Old City’s Jaffa Gate just after 12:45 Friday afternoon. Authorities say the murdered woman was roughly 25-years old. Paramedics attempted to stabilize her condition while she was transported to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital. Despite their efforts, doctors at Hadassah were forced to declare her death Friday afternoon. The terrorist responsible for the attack has been neutralized and taken into custody. "At 12:50, MDA Jerusalem region received a report of an [individual] stabbed near the Jerusalem light rail. MDA EMTs and paramedics are treating a severely injured individual," an MDA spokesperson said. Zeevi Hanfling, an EMT who responded to the attack, described the scene: "There were many people at the scene. Police officers led me into the train where a young girl was lying unconscious with stab wounds to her upper bod. I provided initial life-saving medical treatment and performed CPR. An MDA intensive care unit arrived shortly after and proceeded to treat the critically-injured woman. We also treated a pregnant 30-year old woman and a 50-year old man who were also injured. We evacuated them to hospitals in light condition." <br /> [album:open 2. SYRIA: US HIT ISIS CHEMICAL WEAPONS DEPOT, KILLING HUNDREDS by Yoel Domb The Syrian army claimed that an air strike late yesterday by the US-led coalition hit poison gas supplies belonging to ISIS , and released a toxic substance that killed "hundreds including many civilians". Syria says it has destroyed its own poison gas weapons. The incident in the eastern Deir al-Zor province proved that ISIS and al-Qaeda-linked militants "possess chemical weapons", a statement by the army publicized on Syrian state TV claimed, adding that these weapons had been obtained from "countries in the region which are well known." The report could not immediately be independently verified and the US has denied that it attacked any ISIS chemical weapons site. Last week the US launched cruise missiles at a Syrian airbase , in response to a deadly poison gas attack in the west of the country that Washington blamed on President Bashar al-Assad's government. Syria and its ally Russia deny that Damascus carried out any such chemical attack. Assad even claims that the US 'fabricated' the chemical attack, while Moscow has said the poison gas in that incident last week in Idlib province belonged to rebels." Experts have said that there is no proof that Syria destroyed its chemical weapons when it promised Barack Obama it would do so and that in addition, it may be manufacturing them. The US strike on the Syrian air base last Thursday was the first time Washington has deliberately and directly targeted the Syrian government. 3. RABBI SAUL LEEMAN DEAD AT 100 by JTA Rabbi Saul Leeman, a longtime leader of Conservative congregations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and a civil rights activist who took part in the famed march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, in 1965, has died at 100. Leeman, who served the Cranston Jewish Center on Rhode Island and later Temple Shalom in Medford, Massachusetts, died April 5. The Providence Journal reported that his death "severed a link between Rhode Island and the Civil Rights era, and between the Jewish and black communities." Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Leeman was a graduate of Brooklyn College and Yeshiva University’s Teachers Institute. He was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary, where he later earned a doctorate in Bible studies. Before coming to Rhode Island, Leeman helped found the Israel Community Center of Levittown, Long Island, a New York suburb built after World War II for returning veterans. In a 1996 interview with the Providence Journal, Leeman recalled joining the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and thousands of others on the 54-mile march that set off on March 21, 1965, from Selma to the Alabama state capital in a campaign for voting rights. It was the second of two marches that month; the first was blocked by state troopers and local police who beat demonstrators as they crossed Selma’s Edmund Pettus Bridge. The second march was protected by hundreds of federalized Alabama National Guardsmen and FBI agents. "We could say we were not extended any Southern hospitality," Leeman recalled. "As we marched, there were federal troops on each side of the road, with their rifles at hand. There were some helicopters hovering above. We felt as if we were in enemy territory." Leeman served two terms as president of the Rhode Island Board of Rabbis and was a member of the translating committee of the Hebrew Bible (Kethubim) for the Jewish Publication Society. Leeman was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Dr. Elsie Leeman, and a son, Michael. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Deborah and Peter Robbins; Joel and Sara; and David and Ramona; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 4. 'HAARETZ' STRIKES AGAIN by Michal Levy Just days after the left-wing daily Haaretz published a controversial article arguing Religious Zionist Jews are more dangerous than terrorist murderers and the Hezbollah terror group, the paper again drew criticism Friday with a piece smearing the late Chabad-Lubavitch Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson. In a piece criticizing a recent special aired on Channel 20 about the life of Rabbi Schneerson, Rogel Alpher denounced the Rebbe and his followers. "There is no Messiah, and he will never come," wrote Alpher. "The Lubavitcher Rebbe was completely insane, of course. "Sometime around 1951 he lost his mind. That was the year that he stopped working in marine engineering and declared that he would bring back the Shechina [Divine Presence] to the world, the Redemption. Obviously he has a right to his insanity; and his followers have the right to follow in his footsteps, to worship him personally, and to obey his every command. "It is their right to believe that they are still in direct contact with him, even though he died in 1994. He is no longer. He has ceased to be. Caput. He’s not here. But like the Monty Python sketch with the pet shop owner and the [dead] parrot, [the Rebbe’s] followers claim he’s here. Have fun with that. They’re wrong, of course – dead is dead." Following the article’s publication Friday, Chabad journalist Menachem Cohen blasted the paper and ridiculed it for its recent string of controversies. "Keep doing this. You’re becoming a sad joke. A pathetic company that is consumed with bitterness and self-loathing." 5. WATCH: PRESIDENT TRUMP DROPS IN ON TOUR GROUP by Arutz Sheva Staff [youtube:2026924] 6. PRESIDENT TRUMP DID NOT ATTEND WHITE HOUSE SEDER by JTA President Donald Trump and the Jewish members of his family did not attend a Passover seder held at the White House. The seder, held Monday on the first night of Passover in the Indian Treaty Room of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, continued a custom begun by President Obama. Neither the president nor his Jewish family members — son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka — were in attendance, the Times of Israel reported. David Shulkin, the secretary of veterans affairs and the sole Jewish member of the Trump cabinet, did attend. Kushner and Ivanka Trump reportedly spent the first days of the holiday at a Passover event in British Columbia, Canada, Jewish Insider reported. On Monday evening, Trump tweeted Passover greetings from both his personal and presidential accounts. "Happy Passover to all those celebrating! Chag sameach!" read a tweet from the @POTUS Twitter account on Monday night. Twelve minutes later, Trump issued another Passover tweet from his personal account. "Happy Passover to everyone celebrating in the United States of America, Israel, and around the world. #ChagSameach," the tweet read. 7. AT LEAST 36 ISIS TERRORISTS DEAD IN MASSIVE US BOMBING by David Rosenberg A massive US airstrike against ISIS terror tunnels in Afghanistan Thursday evening killed at least 36 terrorists, the Afghan military announced Friday morning. The attack included the first ever use of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordinance Air Blast (MOAB) bomb, or "Mother Of All Bombs", the largest conventional bomb ever built. The 21,600 pound bomb was dropped by an MC-130 aircraft on a massive ISIS tunnel network in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan used for smuggling weapons and fighters. President Trump touted the bombing in a press briefing Thursday evening, saying it exemplified the differences between his administration and its predecessor. "If you look at what’s happened over the last eight weeks and compare that really to what’s happened over the last eight years, you’ll see that there’s a tremendous difference." The bombing comes a week after a US special operations soldier was killed by ISIS terrorists in the same district targeted in Thursday’s bombing, Achin, near the Pakistani border. 8.
