1. THREE TERRORISTS ARRESTED FOR BEIT EL MOLOTOV COCKTAIL ATTACK
by Uzi Baruch
[youtube:2008901]It has been cleared for publication that three terrorists who are suspected of having perpetrated an attack near Beit El last year were recently arrested.
According to the allegations, the three perpetrated hurled two firebombs on the car in which the Sofer family was traveling. The family's three-year-old daughter Tahel Sofer's seat was hit by one of them and set on fire as a result.
Her mother recounted the harrowing experience: "The firebombs smashed the rear windshield where Tahel was sitting. They fell on Tahel's seat and immediately, everything was burning. Tahel's dress, Tahel herself, her hair...It's such a nightmare, to see your child burning. For children to see their sister burning. It's very frightening. All we wanted to do is to put out the fire."
The family managed to jump out of the car, tear off the child's clothing and put out the fire as rescue forces arrived.
From the investigation by security forces, it was revealed that the attack was part of a string of such attacks perpetrated by the three in the area.
It was also revealed in the investigation that the three planned on carrying out a shooting attack as well.
2. PALESTINIAN SOCIAL MEDIA PRAISE BEIT EL ATTACKER
by MEMRI
On October 31, Muhammad 'Abd Al-Khaleq Turkman, a 25-year-old Palestinian Authority policeman, carried out a shooting attack at a checkpoint in Beit El, wounding three Israeli soldiers, one of them seriously.
Turkman's brother Rabi'a, who was killed in 2011, was an officer in the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade and the Popular Resistance Committees, and was active in confrontations with Israel during the Al-Aqsa Intifada, 2000-2006, often known as the Second Intifada or the Oslo War.
Following the recent shooting, Palestinian social media users posted images and banners praising Turkman and his attack. Such posts also appeared on the Facebook pages of Fatah offices in the Palestinian Authority, and even on Fatah's official Facebook page, which referred to Turkman as "the hero martyr."
Facebook pages associated with Hamas featured calls for Palestinian Authority security forces personnel to carry out similar attacks as part of what the PA terms the Al-Quds Intifada that began in October 2015. Social networks also saw use of the hashtags "The Resisting Policeman" and "The Martyr Policeman."
Images on Fatah's official Facebook page posted following the attack includes a poster showing Muhammad Turkman against the backdrop of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The poster, shared by the Facebook pages of Fatah offices in Tulkarm, Bethlehem, the town of 'Illar, and central Khan Yunis, states: "Martyr policeman Muhammad Turkman, an officer with Palestinian police special forces, perpetrator of the shooting operation near the Beit El checkpoint that wounded three Israeli soldiers."
The Facebook pages shared the poster using various hashtags such as "Member of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement Fatah," "Member of Palestinian Authority Apparatus," and "Honorable President Mahmoud Abbas's Man."

Additionally, the official Fatah Facebook page posted an image of Turkman with a rifle by his side. The post read: "Young martyr Muhammad 'Abd Al-Khaleq Turkman from the town of Qabatiya, perpetrator of the shooting operation that wounded three soldiers at the Beit El checkpoint in Ramallah. The martyr is a military man working for Palestinian police security [forces]."
The picture was reposted an hour later with text stating "The Fatah movement in Qabatiya is using loudspeakers to eulogize its son, hero martyr Muhammad Turkman, who carried out the 'Beit El' operation tonight."

The Facebook page of the Palestinian news agency Shihab, which is affiliated with Hamas, posted a Hamas graphic welcoming Muhammad 'Abd Al-Khaleq Turkman's operation and calling on more Palestinian security apparatus elements to get involved in the Intifada. It stated: "The Hamas movement welcomes the operation by the martyr Muhammad Turkman, an officer in the police apparatus, and views it as a powerful message in dealing with the crimes of the occupation. The movement calls on more members of the Palestinian security [apparatuses] to join the Palestinian Intifada. #The Resisting Policeman."

The Facebook page of one of Hamas's websites, PALDF, posted a graphic with Turkman's photo along with photos of Palestinian security apparatus members who had carried out previous attacks against Israel during the Al-Quds Intifada. They included Mazan Hasan Ariva, a PA intelligence officer who opened fire on Israeli soldiers at the Hizma checkpoint on December 3, 2015 and Amjad Al-Sukari, a security forces member, who did likewise at the Beit El checkpoint on January 31, 2016. Next to Turkman's photo was a graphic with a question mark captioned "Who will be next?"

Posters praising Turkman were also shared by the local Facebook pages of Palestinian Authority towns, as well as Palestinian Authority news pages. One poster shared by the "Palestine News At Any Moment" Facebook page, which posts Hamas-related content, praised Turkman's attack and stated that his reward for it would be a ticket to Paradise. The poster reads: "We, men of the [West] Bank, came to die as martyrs. This shooting is for you, mother, and with it I will pass through the gates of Paradise. Here they are, here they are, here they are – peerless heroes."

3. THE PM'S MAN IN ANKARA?
by Arutz Sheva Staff
Following a presumed renormalization of relations between Israel and Turkey, the PM is reportedly interested in appointing veteran diplomat Ron Prosor as Israeli Ambassador to Turkey, according to Yisrael Hayom.
Prosor has served as Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Israel's Ambassador to the UK and to the UN. Several months ago, Prosor left the foreign ministry, and has since been affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya.
Netanyahu's reported interest in appointing Prosor comes after Ankara announced that it would appoint close Erdogan advisor Kemal Okem as Turkey's ambassador to Israel.
According to the report, at this stage it is still unclear whether Netanyahu will appoint Prosor or choose from a string of candidates from the foreign ministry who have expressed a desire for the position.
The recent steps towards renormalizing relations come after a diplomatic cut in ties following the 2010 incident in which IDF soldiers boarded the Turkish "Mavi Marmara" flotilla that was headed for Gaza under the pretext of providing humanitarian aid, but was meant to break Israel's blockade of the coast which prevents weaponry from reaching Hamas.
Upon boarding, the soldiers were violently attacked by the Islamist extremists on board with clubs and knives.
The IDF soldiers had no choice but to defend themselves, which resulted in the deaths of 10 on board the ship.
Following the incident, Turkey withdrew the Turkish ambassador to Israel. Negotiations resulted in Israel paying compensation to the families of those killed and an agreement signed in July 2016.
4. 'YOU HAVE PLACED A GUN ON THE TABLE'
by Shlomo Piotrokowski
High Court Chief Justice Miriam Naor sent a sharp letter Wednesday to Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked in the wake of the proposed law cancelling the need for a majority of 7 out of 9 members of the selection committee when selecting new judges.
Naor wrote initially that despite the proposal being a private MK's proposal, since it has been publicized that Shaked supports the proposed law and she has not denied her support, she assumes that Shaked indeed stands behind the initiative.
"Submitting this proposal at the present juncture constitutes 'placing a gun on the table'. It means that if some members of the committee will not express their approval of certain candidates, and there will not be a special majority enabling their appointment, the constitutional 'rules of the game' will change so that they can be appointed by a regular majority of the selection committee," wrote Naor.
Naor said that "This situation does not allow us, the judges on the High Court who are members of the judicial selection committee, to continue to consult with you and attempt to reach agreements on appointments. We cannot continue to interact when the final rules may change while we are in consultation.
"Therefore I am forced to announce - with the approval of my colleagues Elyakim Rubinstein and Salim Jubran- that we have no intention of continuing our interaction and pre-consultations with regard to drawing up lists of candidates and possible mutually agreed candidacies. Each of us will work independently within the judicial selection committee according to the law," said Naor.
Naor added "I wish to emphasize that we do not intend to intervene in the Knesset's legislative procedures even when they constitute a change in the 'rules of the game' . We are also not involved in speculations about possible legislative processes or their propriety. However, it is clear that, just as the legislative authority acts as it sees fit, we too - the judges who are members of the judiciary selection committee - will each act as we see fit, all within the confines of the law."
Naor concluded by saying that "Even though I am upset that we have come to this, I want to emphasize that, from my point of view, there is no reason not to continue our professional meetings as before, with full cooperation, regarding all the other aspects of our mutual work."
Shaked's office responded by saying that "The meetings of the judiciary selection committee will continue as before. In the coming days a list of candidates for High Court judges will be published."

7. LIPA SCHMELTZER UNSURE OF WHOM TO VOTE FOR
by Yoel Domb
American hassidic singer Lipa Schmeltzer is still unsure about whom he's voting for next week. In a humorous clip he released for the haredi Kikar Hashabat site, Schmeltzer expressed an innovative opinion which reflects what he sees as the difficult decision between two problematic candidates.
"If I vote for Clinton and she wins it will present a problem for the hassidic community. What will everyone do when they have to brush their shoes before Shabbat on the newspaper and they can't put her picture there?
"Many people are embarrassed to say they are voting Trump because its not fashionable, and of course the vote is for the individual. On the other hand, there is no reason not to vote for him, so everything is open."
Schmeltzer concluded by saying that "All of America is living in an air bubble at the moment. Some people say not to vote for Trump because he is racist, but I say that it is all a matter of taste."
"In the end 'The hearts of kings and ministers are in G-d's hands,'" concluded Schmeltzer.
