1. BACKGROUND OF JERUSALEM LIGHT RAIL ATTACK REVEALED
by Arutz Sheva Staff
At the end of their investigations into the attempted a terror attack on the Jerusalem Light Rail, Israel Police and Shabak have submitted a joint prosecutor's statement against the Arab student who masterminded the incident.
Ali Abu Hasan, 12, a resident of Beit Ula, is an industrial engineering student at a university in Hevron.
Abu Hasan intended the attack to be revenge against tourists and Jews who visit the Temple Mount.
On the day before the attempted attack, Abu Hasan entered Israel illegally by climbing a wadi (valley) next to Tzur Bahar, until he reached an olive grove in Jabel Mukabar, on the eastern outskirts of Jerusalem.
There, he changed into casual clothing, wearing shorts, a T-shirt, and a baseball cap. He also shaved his beard into a goatee, in order to blend in with the crowd.
Early the next morning, Abu Hasan prayed in a nearby mosque, got on a bus in the Talpiot neighborhood of Jerusalem, and arrived at the city center, at the junction of Jaffa Street and King George Street.
There, he waited at the station for the Jerusalem Light Rail, with a knapsack full of homemade pipe bombs, and began to explore his surroundings in preparation for the attack.
The joint interrogations of Shabak and the Jerusalem Police indicate that the terrorist originally planned to blow up the bombs in a restaurant next to the station. However, after seeing all the people waiting for the light rail train, he changed his mind, and waited for the train to arrive in order to wreak his vengeance.
Light Rail security guards were suspicious of Abu Hasan's behavior. When they checked him and his bag, they found the pipe bombs, and immediately cleared the area.
Later, police found two knives and a telephone were also found in the bag. There were three pipe bombs, fused together, with nails and screws glued on, while the whole thing was covered in rat poison.

The interrogations also revealed that Abu Hasan had been planning the attack for some time. He researched the internet in order to learn how to make pipe bombs, bought all the materials, and exploded several trial bombs to be sure they'd work.
Before he entered Israel, Abu Hasan wrote a suicide note, which he left in university, asking his friends to tell his parents what happened. The terrorist acted on his own, without direction from any terror organization.
The terrorist will probably be charged for attempted murder, weapons manufacture, and conspiracy to commit a crime, in accordance with the prosecutor's statement.
His arrest has been extended until August 5th.
2. 6 TEACHERS INDICTED FOR CHILD ABUSE AT HAREDI SCHOOL
by Ido ben Porat
An indictment was filed this morning (Tuesday) against 6 teachers at a Tel Aviv haredi boys school associated with the Belz hassidic sect, on charges of child abuse against 22 of their students.
According to the indictment, the six were educators at the institution, and taught minors aged 3 to 10.
From 2000 to 2011, beginning when the students were 3-4 years old, until they were 10, the 6 men took advantage of their positions of power to enact daily systematic physical and mental abuse against the boys.
In addition, one of the educators was charged with sodomy and indecent acts against the boys during the period that the boys were aged 7 until age 10.
The same man was charged with blackmail, realized threats, and abuse of minors in his custody, in light of the fact that he physically abused his own son for years until his son left the house, and instilled an atmosphere of deep in fear among members of his household.
He is also charged with animal abuse after, in 2006, he struck a cat that had wandered into the classroom with an umbrella, then proceeded to push it out of an upper level window in front of the boys, where it fell to its death.
The prosecution has requested that the last suspect remain in custody for the duration of the court proceedings, while the other 5 accused be released under limiting conditions.
3. 40 WOUNDED IN KOSOVO ISIS PANIC
by Rachel Kaplan
40 people were injured, two seriously, in a stampede at Kosovo's Beer Fest, after someone yelled "ISIS" as a joke.
A beer festival in Prestina, Kosovo's capital, turned ugly when someone in the crowd yelled "ISIS." As people ran for their lives, locals report that a gunshot was heard.
Similar reports indicate that a 15 year old boy was shot. The gun may have been fired in a panic. Around 20 percent of Kosovo's citizenry owns firearms.
People reportedly hid in alleys and smashed their way into buildings to find a place to hide.
Albaniball posted on social media site Reddit: "I was there. Right in the middle of the amphitheatre, dancing and suddenly people pressed against me. I didn't hear shots so I was afraid some Islamist bastard was gonna blow up, was just waiting for the boom. On the other hand I tried to stand strong in order not to trip and get stamped. Fortunately...I left, but many people were wounded in the stampede, mostly girls."
Pontiffsully also reported on Reddit:
"I was there, in the left side of the crowd enjoying the music, then me and my 2 friends went to get more beer (the bars were towards the camera), after 2 minutes people started screaming and I turned around, everybody was running for their life (away from the middle).
"I was stuck between the bar and some people, I didn't even hear the gunshots because the music was so loud. I heard some people scream "ISIS, ISIS!", a lot of girls were crying. I was just expecting an explosion at that point. I thought about crossing the bar and hiding behind it, but then the music stopped and the guy singing (Lyrical Son) said something like 'Everything is okay, nothing happened, please calm down', but people were still running out, and I didn't see anybody leading the crowd outside or anything, everyone was just running for their life.
"I looked for my friends but didn't see them anywhere, I tried to call them but my phone didn't work. Saw some people on the ground, one of them said "It's ISIS, we are f******", then I heard one young guy screaming "Allahu Akbar" (in a joking way), so I was confused as **** at the whole situation.
"I finally got out of the crowd and found my friends, the police was there en masse and the crowd was almost fully dispersed. One waiter from a nearby cafe shop was screaming his lungs out because he was angry people ran out without paying. Chairs, broken glasses were on the ground everywhere, some people fell on them.
"My guess: Either a guy trying to be macho and getting in a fight with someone, or some drunk...shooting in the air, because we still have a culture of shooting in the air to celebrate here. But still, because of recent events in Europe, people are getting more and more scared of public gatherings like this, because they assume that ISIS is going to attack us."
4. 60-YEAR-OLD WOMAN GIVES BIRTH TO FIRST CHILD
by Tal Polon
A 60-year-old woman has given birth at the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot to a healthy baby girl, Channel 10 reported this morning (Tuesday). The girl weighed 2.2 kilograms (4.8 pounds).
Dr. Yael Naaman, one of the doctors who oversaw the birth, noted that "the baby was born healthy and strong, and has been passed to a child specialist for further treatment."
The labor, however, was fraught with challenges. The little girl was born through a Caesarean section operation after doctors identified toxemia of the pregnancy. In addition, a malignant tumor was found in the womb of the mother, which the doctors successfully removed.
"The significance of pregnancy toxemia is that blood pressure goes up, proteins are released, the liver starts to function abnormally and pulse becomes irregular; these are things which can endanger the mother and fetus," Dr. Naaman explained.
"The mother is recovering, is in constant contact with medical staff, and is close to her baby whenever possible," she added.
The mother, who wished to remain anonymous, thanked the medical staff for their support throughout the birth. "They calmed me down. The nurse sat with me through the whole operation, talked with me, wiped my face and encouraged me. Everybody was smiling.
"And the big happiness of my life was when the staff showed me my baby for whom I had waited so many years," she concluded.
5. F-35A COMPLETES FIRST LIVE AIR-TO-AIR 'KILL TEST'
by Arutz Sheva Staff
[youtube:2017691]
According to the staff at Lockheed Martin, the F-35 Lightning II advanced its combat capability by launching an air-to-air missile and directly hitting a drone, over a military test range off the California coast, on July 28.
Israel is the first country to order the Lightning II, and its new "Adir" fleet is expected to be delivered in December 2016.
U.S. Air Force test pilot, Maj. Raven LeClair, employed an AIM-9X missile from an F-35A's external wing against an aerial drone target in restricted military sea test range airspace.
Test data and observers confirmed the F-35 identified and targeted the drone with its mission systems sensors, passed the target 'track' information to the missile, enabled the pilot to verify targeting information using the high off-boresight capability of the helmet mounted display (HMD) and launched the AIM-9X from the aircraft to engage the target drone.
After launch, the missile successfully acquired the target and followed an intercept flight profile before destroying the drone, achieving the first F-35 Air-to-Air kill or "Boola Boola," which is the traditional radio call made when a pilot shoots down a drone.
Immediately prior to launching the AIM-9X, LeClair employed an internally carried AIM-120C missile against another target drone. This target was beyond visual range and the AIM-120C was given a successful self-destruct signal right before target impact.
The AIM-9X is a short-range heat-seeking missile with an off-boresight capability for accuracy and features thrust-vectoring controls for increased turn capability. The F-35 can carry two AIM-9X missiles on its wings. During previous test shots a self-destruct signal had been sent to the missile prior to it hitting the target.
"It's been said you don't really have a fighter until you can actually hit a target and we crossed that threshold with the first air-to-air weapon delivery of an AIM-9X. This successful test demonstrates the combat capability the F-35 will bring to the U.S. Military and our allies," said LeClair.
"This test represents the culmination of many years of careful planning by combined government and contractor teams. We want to ensure operators will receive the combat capability they need to execute their mission and return home safely – we cannot compromise or falter in delivering this capability."
The missile test is part of a weapons delivery accuracy surge being conducted by the F-35 Joint Program Office Test Teams at Edwards Air Force Base, Point Mugu Sea Test Range, White Sands Missile Range and Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake.
The focus of the increased weapons testing is to advance 3F software testing, which will provide full warfighting capabilities to the F-35. Other ordnance being released during surge testing include: Small Diameter Bombs, Joint Direct Attack Munitions and AIM-120s.
The F-35 is a multi-role, next-generation fighter that combines advanced stealth with speed, agility and a 360-degree view of the battlespace. The F-35 will form the backbone of air combat superiority for decades to come and replace legacy tactical fighter fleets with dominant air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities to deter and defeat potential adversaries.
6. CLOAK-AND-DAGGER: HEZBOLLAH 'HOODWINKS' IDF
by Rachel Kaplan
In a chain of cloak-and-dagger moves, terror organization Hezbollah managed to "interview" ex-Defense Minister Amir Peretz, MK Tzipi Livni, Major General (Reserves) Eyal Ben-Reuven, and Tomer Weinberg, who was wounded while patrolling with captured soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser. The interviews were aired Saturday night on Hezbollah's news channel, Al-Mayadeen.
[youtube:2017745]
In 2006, two IDF Humvees were patrolling the Lebanon border when Hezbollah launched a barrage of Katuhusha rockets at nearby Israeli towns. Terrorists then raided the Humvees, killing three soldiers and capturing Goldwasser and Regev, who later died in captivity. The attack sparked the Second Lebanon War.
Weinberg, who was wounded in the attack, told Yediot Aharonot that "in February, I was approached by an Italian journalist, Mikla Moni, who explained that he is gathering materials for a broad-based article on the event of the capture."
In the first chapter of three, which was aired Saturday night, Weinberg revealed the terror of the moments of the attack: "As soon as the shooting started, I understood that it was coming from the direction of Hezbollah, I opened the door of the Hummer, I didn't look at my friends who sat on the back bench, and I fled."
A Hezbollah terrorist explains in the documentary that "We saw the soldier who was wounded and managed to escape, but capturing him was not planned in the operation directives, so we didn't take him."
General (Reserves) Amos Yadlin claims that he was not interviewed by Al-Mayadeen; rather, he says, they took clips from an interview of his on Israeli television.
Weinberg explained yesterday how he thinks the journalists "cooked up" the interviews with the Israelis: "In February, Mikla Moni emailed me, and presented himself as a journalist for the Italian news agency Ansa, in Rome. He asked to interview me about the capture.
"I pushed him off several times, and I explained that going over the event is likely to worsen my mental and physical state. The Italian journalist persisted, and in the end, I agreed to be interviewed. When he came to my house, he explained that he was staying in Jerusalem, and came specially 'because the Italian people are very interested to hear this story, and it is important that the Italians learn the details of the capture.'
"The Italian journalist explained that his producer is insistent that I be recorded [for] the video, and promised me $2,000 in his name. I immediately refused him, and I said there was no chance," Weinberg recalls.
Weinberg hasn't seen Hezbollah's video, "My friends are 'shaming' me because after everything I told the Italian journalist, they aired only a paragraph which makes it sound like I ran from the car and abandoned my friends. All of a sudden, my memories from the incident flooded me, and I went into a panic. Since the documentary was aired, I haven't gone to work," he explained.
Tzipi Livni (Zionist Union) and Amir Peretz also admitted that they had been scammed. They had each been told that they were being interviewed for the British BBC and Italian TV, and they weren't informed that the film would be passed on to Hezbollah.
The Italian journalist, Mikla Moni, defended himself, saying "I also didn't know that the interviews, for which I was sent to Israel, would end up with Hezbollah."
"Ahmed Barghouti, the producer who paid me in Jerusalem, told me that he is preparing interviews for the BBC and for Al-Jazeera. I work a lot with this producer, and I took on the project.
Moni rejected the claims that he had presented himself as an Italian journalist, "When I discovered the Hezbollah channel aired the interviews, and not the BBC or Al-Jazeera, I understood that they had set me up, and I seemed like a liar to the interviewees. I am afraid of losing my work," explained Moni.
"I am a professional journalist. I have no connection with Al-Mayadeen channel, nor Hezbollah, and I don't want to be in touch with them. Tomer Weinberg is a wonderful guy, and I feel like I have sorely mistreated him. I went in a high temper to the producer Barghouti, and he said that he has no idea how the interviews got on the Al-Mayadeen channel. "
Italian news agency Ansa says that, although Moni works with them, "we did not send Moni to conduct interviews on the incident of the capture of IDF soldiers, and the interviews were not aired by us."
General (Reserves) Eyal Ben-Reuven told Yediot Aharonot that "this is a severe act, and I am considering taking legal action against the Italian journalist. Obviously, if I had known that the interview would by aired on Hezbollah's channel, I would not have interviewed. Someone has hoodwinked us."
7. 'RETHINK PRISONER SWAP POLICY', URGES TERROR VICTIMS' GROUP
by Hezki Baruch
[youtube:2017742]
The Almagor terror victims' association on Monday sent a letter to the government urging it to reconsider the policy of releasing terrorists from Israeli prisons.
"I call on the ministers to go to the cemetery here in Jerusalem and visit the grave of Colonel Baruch Mizrahi, who was murdered by a terrorist who was released in that exchange deal for [Gilad] Shalit and ask for forgiveness," said Almagor head Meir Indor in an interview with Arutz Sheva.
"The three boys who were kidnapped and murdered in Gush Etzion – the commander of that project was a terrorist who had been released in the Shalit deal. The same story with Malachi Rosenfeld and Danny Gonen," continued Indor.
"What will happen in the future? They will, God forbid, kidnap a soldier again, and then we'll have to release the same terrorists?" he said.
He urged the Cabinet to deport released terrorists to Gaza, or at least force them to report to the police station once a week
In addition, said Indor, checkpoints that were closed must be reopened, and police officers from the Palestinian Authority should not be allowed to freely roam the region as many of them are involved in terrorist attacks.
"I think it's time that the government decide on punishment to rioters who throw rocks and firebombs at soldiers conducting an arrest operation. This is a war. Sometimes in war you need to take steps so that the population will know that it doesn't pay to harm Israelis," he added.
8. FAMILY FORCED TO LIVE IN SUKKAH
by Arutz Sheva Staff
The intense heat of the Jerusalem summer has arrived.
For many families it is a time for relaxation and fun.
But for an impoverished family with two children and an infant, it is a time of shame.
Unable to pay their rent, they now live in a sukkah (temporary booth) on the street.
The mother of the family is a convert. The father became religious before they married and moved to Jerusalem.

The public is encouraged to donate here to help the family get back on their feet.
The names of those who donate will be given to Rav Chaim Kanievsky shlit"a.
