1. AFTER NEARLY THREE YEARS, ISRAEL NABS COP-STABBING TERRORIST
by Rachel Kaplan

The Shin Bet (Shabat) internal security agency, together with the IDF, and the Judea-Samaria District Police, have captured the terrorist who stabbed a policeman on December 23, 2013, at Adam Circle, near Jeva. The policeman was moderately wounded.

The terrorist has been identified as Muhamad Yunis Ali Abu-Hanak, 21, a resident of Aviyadia, near Bethlehem.

Shabak interrogators discovered that Abu-Hanak decided to commit a terror attack in order to end his "difficult life."

Abu-Hanak hid a kitchen knife in his jacket, and grabbed a group taxi from Ramallah to Bethlehem. When he saw a policeman standing on the road at Adam Circle, in the Binyamin Region, he left the taxi, and stabbed the policeman once in the back. He then fled the scene.

In an official statement, Shabak proudly announced that "The General Secret Service (Shabak) will continue to act, using everything in its power, to prevent terrror attacks and to find justice for the victims, even long after the attack occured."

2. KING OF JORDAN: JEWS TAKING OVER AL AQSA MOSQUE
by Hillel Fendel

King Abdullah of Jordan has expressed outrage that 400 Jews visited the site of the two Holy Temples on the Temple Mount yesterday. His statement of fury ignored the simultaneous Moslem provocations and violence.

Yesterday, the 9th day of the month of Av – the date on which both Holy Temples were destroyed some 2,500 and 2,000 years ago, respectively – a relatively large number of Jews visited the site: some 400.

"We continuously struggle with repeated strikes carried out by Israel and extremist organizations in Jerusalem," the king stated, "as well as with the attempts to change the status quo in the city. We will stand fast against any attempt to harm our holy places or to divide the Al-Aqsa mosque [in terms of] area or prayer times."

As is widely known and equally widely ignored, the status quo on the Temple Mount has been harmed over the years to the detriment not of the Muslims, but of the Jews. Jews are not permitted to utter words of prayer on the Mount, and their visits are restricted to small groups, at specific hours, on specific days.

Israel Police deployed large forces on the Mount yesterday in preparation for the Jewish visitors. Seven Jews were detained for allegedly violating the rules set for visitors. When the last Jewish group left the Mount, two more Jews were detained for the same reason.

The police later reported that "while the [above-mentioned] Jews were being detained and removed from the Mount, groups of Muslims began crowding around and calling out. The police distanced them and pushed them back, and escorted the final group of Jewish visitors until the end of their visit and their exit from the Mount."

The parallel PA report added that the Muslims were calling out and chanting "Allahu Akbar". In addition, it said, some 18 Arabs sustained various injuries in their violent clashes with the police.

Knesset Members have not been allowed to visit the Mount in recent months, by order of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Some MKs requested to visit on yesterday's day of national mourning, but Netanyahu did not accede. MK Yehuda Glick (Likud), a long-time Temple Mount activist, sat outside the entrance to the Mount and recited Tisha B'Av dirges with several other worshippers.

Even Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) was not permitted to visit the Temple Mount on Tisha B'Av. "The time has come to end this national fawning and weakness on the Temple Mount," he said, "and to raise our heads, both on days of joy and days of mourning over the destruction."

3. WATCH: HAMAS DEBUNKS ITS OWN LIES OF 'GAZA IN RUINS'
by Rachel Kaplan

Gearing up for elections, Hamas has published a video which belies their story of a ruined Gaza, hanging on to its fingernails to to "Israeli oppressors."

Under the campaign banner "Gaza is Beautiful," Hamas shows off a lush and luxurious side of Gaza, complete with palm-lined streets and shopping centers.

Hamas' propaganda machines usually show the hungry side of Gaza: poor people, crowded streets, rubble, while officials throw up their hands and plead for supplies.

Hamas, where are you spending your funds?

4. PALESTINIAN ARAB NABBED IN NETANYA FORGING ISRAELI ID
by Uzi Baruch

Police arrested a 19-year old Palestinian Authority resident in the coastal city of Netanya Monday morning, following his attempt to pass off a stolen Israeli identity card as his own.

The man, who showed up at an Interior Ministry office in Netanya, claimed to be an Israeli citizen, and that his old ID card had been damaged.

The suspect requested the ministry issue him a replacement ID card. However, an alert clerk noticed that the man who presented the ID card was not who he claimed to be. Rather than provide the man with a new ID card – which would have included a new picture of him, rather than the owner of the original card – the clerk quietly notified police, who later took the man into custody.

During their investigation, police discovered that the man was residing in Israel illegally, and had apparently stolen the ID card in question.

5. MAYOR JUSTIFIES SHOOTING: EVERY THIEF SHOULD KNOW HE MIGHT DIE
by Hillel Fendel

A Jewish farmer, 64, from Moshav Beit Elazri, killed one of three Arabs trying to steal his truck early Sunday morning. He was questioned for several hours by police and then released to house arrest. He said he awoke to a noise in his yard, and saw three men trying to break into his truck. He went out with his gun and fired in the air after they approached him and threatened him with a metal bar. He added that he was not aware of having hit any of them with his shots. The body was in fact found in a field nearby, and not on his property.

Moshav Beit Elazri, near Gedera and Rehovot, is one of the largest moshavim in Israel. It numbers 120 agricultural families and 280 other families.

"The wantonness of the thieves, most of whom are from the Arab sector, must end," writes Avi Naim, Mayor of Beit Aryeh and Security Committee Chairman of the Local Authorities. "The way to do this is by preventative and deterrent measures such as granting authority to shoot."

"Hundreds of these criminal acts, some of which have a nationalistic motive, are done with brazenness, sometimes during daylight hours, without fear. We must declare war against them, using practical measures including shooting by the farm-owners."

Naim says that farmers in Israel have it hard from many standpoints, "and especially economically." The farmers "have a major role in redeeming the Land, and we have an obligation to help them subsist with dignity."

"We all remember the sad incident in Moshav Avichayil in which Itzik Algabi of blessed memory was murdered in his home by Palestinian robbers," Naim adds. "And we all remember other incidents that started out as criminal cases but ended as nationalist-terrorist murders."

"Sunday's shooting in Beit Elazri was justified," Naim concludes. "It was an act of self-defense, and prevented innocent people from getting hurt. Every thief must know that he might die. It must be anchored in law, just as in the cradle of democracy, the United States, where every citizen has the right to self-defense of his body and his property, including the shooting of trespassers."

6. TRUMP CAMPAIGN LOOKS TO VOTERS IN ISRAEL FOR SWING-STATE BOOST
by David Rosenberg

Looking for an absentee-voter boost in swing-states like Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, Donald Trump is actively courting American Jews living in Israel in what the campaign hints could be an insurance policy against a repeat of the 2000 Bush-Gore deadlock in Florida.

Managed by the Republicans Abroad Israel branch of the GOP, the new campaign targeting dual-citizens says American Jews residing in Israel are one of the largest overseas American populations, and unlike most expatriates, they lean Republican.

"[M]ost of the voters in Israel are Republicans," a statement released by the GOP's Israel branch read, adding that "the party is investing in a campaign in Israel"

"Israel is home to approximately 300,000 US citizens, making Israel one of the largest populations of non-resident US citizens," says the Republicans Abroad Israel website.

While 300,000 potential voters may seem like a trivial number in an election that will likely see some 120 to 130 million votes cast, the Trump campaign said the concentration of voters in key battleground states could be crucial in a close election.

"In 2000 Bush won the election by 500 votes in Florida. If 600 Israelis from Florida had gone out to vote, they could have decided the election. That kind of situation could happen again."

The Trump campaign in Israel has launched a get out the vote operation micro-targeting eligible American voters, particularly those registered in the 10 to 12 battleground states that will decide the election.

Campaign activists are hitting Israeli malls in areas with high concentrations of American citizens to make their pitch to voters on the fence, and have begun distributing Trump hats, stickers, and buttons.

Emphasizing his support for Israel and playing up frustration among American-Israelis over the Obama administration's handling of America's relationship with Israel and the Iran nuclear deal, the Trump operation in Israel has rolled out a new logo with the slogan "Trump – the Israeli Interest" – in Hebrew.

"The Hebrew logo was designed in the same spirit as the American logo," said a Trump campaign press release. "The message is clear: he is appealing to the American-Israeli community, which leans to the right politically and is more associated with the Republican Party."

Many American-Israelis "worry that Clinton would continue Obama's policies, and because of that are coming out to support Trump."

7. 'BLACK POWER' RIOTS CONTINUE IN MILWAUKEE
by David Rosenberg

#BlackLivesMatter rioters target whites: "They beating up all the white people." #Milwaukee pic.twitter.com/G85jnYtd3k— Paul Joseph Watson (@PrisonPlanet) August 14, 2016

Tensions flared in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, after Sylville Smith, a 23-year old career criminal with a long list of prior arrests, was shot and killed by police. Milwaukee police say Smith was carrying a stolen pistol at the time of the shooting.

The violence continued a second day, with hundreds of rioters facing off against police Sunday night.

Rioters hurled stones and bottles at the officers, and at least one person was shot during Sunday's unrest. Police were forced to use an armored vehicle to retrieve the wounded man, Fox News, reports.

While the details of the shooting are as of yet unknown, members of the Black Lives Matter movement quickly organized protests in northern Milwaukee, which quickly devolved into race riots explicitly targeting whites.

Four police officers were wounded in the course of Saturday's riots, CNN reports, and a number of businesses and private vehicles torched by rioters. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says 17 people were arrested during Saturday night's rioting.

Videos of the rioting reveal something closer to a lynch mob than a political protest, with explicit calls to kill whites and chants of "black power".

Participants in the riot blocked traffic to inspect passing cars, and can be heard asking "is they white?", prompting another rioter to answer "Yeah they white, get their ass!".

"They beating up every white person," another rioter can be hard saying. "He white, beat his head".

In addition to a number of private vehicles and other businesses set on fire, a local BP gas station was also torched. A number of police cars were also destroyed. One police officer inside a squad car suffered a head injury when rioters smashed the windshield.

Mayor Barrett told reporters that rioters had lit fires in a number of locations around northern Milwaukee, destroying, among other things, an auto parts store and a BMO Harris bank.

Family members of the man whose death sparked the rioting appealed to rioters to end the violence.

"Don't bring that violence here," said one of Smith's sisters.

One City Alderman, Khalif Rainey, suggested the rioting raised legitimate issues, though he refused to condone the violence.

"The black people of Milwaukee are tired," he said, "they are tired of living under this oppression, this is their life."

8. UKRAINE BATTLES REBELS, RUSSIAN FORCES JOIN INSURGENTS
by Rachel Kaplan

Ukraine has reported raids by Russian-backed rebel forces, amid fears that Russia is gathering more troops along their de facto border.

Ukrainian forces in the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk announced on Facebook that rebels opened fire 64 times on Sunday. The rebels also attempted to take over a military checkpoint in Luhansk.

"Around 10:10 a.m., from the side of the populated settlement of Kalynove, an enemy reconnaissance, saboteur group of three to six people neared within 100 meters and opened fire from large caliber guns and small arms," the military statement read.

"Combat lasted 20 minutes. The enemy sustained casualties and retreated."

28 of the 64 incidents occurred in the port city of Mariupol, in Donetsk. Pro-Russian rebels have been fighting for Mariupol since 2014.

Russian-backed separatists have held chunks of eastern Ukraine since 2014; they have neither significantly advanced nor receded over the course of 2016.

Although Russian troops have been sighted among the rebels, Russia claims that members of its military fighting for the rebels are there independently, and not under official orders. However, evidence, such as an August 7th video of a Russian military convoy moving northwest from Kerch, in the rebel-held Crimean Peninsula, suggests otherwise.
