1. NEW YORK ARAB STUDENT LEADER PRAISES MURDER OF ISRAELIS
by David Rosenberg
A leader of one of the largest anti-Israel activist networks in the United States publicly praised the murder of four Israeli Jews in a terror attack in Jerusalem, hailing the killings as "the biggest 'F you'" to Israel.
Nerdeen Kiswani, president of the New York City chapter of the Students for Justice in Palestine took to Facebook to praise the slaughter of four IDF cadets on Sunday by an Arab terrorist from the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood in Jerusalem.
In her comment, Kiswani took fellow anti-Israel activists and supporters of the Palestinian Authority to task for condemning the murderous attack, saying terrorism was, in these circumstances, justified and indeed worthy of praise. Kiswani even referenced celebrations by Arabs in Jerusalem after the attack as positive examples to emulate.
"While Palestinians and 'allies' in the west [sic] scramble to condemn, apologize, explain, hide, rationalize, etc what happened this morning, Palestinians in Palestine are giving out sweets in celebration," Kiswani wrote.
"I will not hide from this. I will not be ashamed or embarrassed by this. Those celebratory actions are what keep the resistance moving forward, they are what keep it alive. In a world that's trying to quell our liberation and self determination, the biggest 'F you' to that are Palestinians celebrating actions that 1) remind settlers that there will never be peace on stolen land 2) remind the world we are still here 3) galvanize other Palestinians to fight. That's your rationalization no apology needed."
Ms. Kiswani deleted the post after an expose by The Algemeiner, which noted her long history of support for violence against Israel and her opposition to the existence of the Jewish state.
Among slogans Kiswani reportedly endorsed are "There is only one solution/Intifada Revolution" as well as "We don't want no two state/We want 48," and "It is right, to rebel/Israel, Go to hell".
While Kiswani removed the aforementioned Facebook post, her Twitter feed still includes a series of comments legitimizing Sunday's attack and violence against Israeli soldiers in general.
"Newsflash: uniform clad armed combatants are not 'innocent pedestrian children' but the 500 kids murdered in Gaza ARE."
To back up her claims that terrorism is at times sanctioned by law, Kiswani cited herself as a student of international relations and human rights.
"Even under international law it's common knowledge that armed combatants are a legitimate target. I literally studied IR and human rights."

2. WATCH: BRAWL ERUPTS AT THE TURKISH PARLIAMENT
by Arutz Sheva Staff
A brawl erupted at the Turkish parliament on Wednesday as lawmakers debated constitutional amendments that would expand presidential powers, CNN reports, citing the Turkish news agency Anadolu.
[youtube:2023226]
The fight broke out shortly after opposition lawmaker Özgür Özel told ruling party lawmakers "You are trying to destroy yourselves when the TV is off and nobody sees. We won't let it happen."
Lawmakers were debating ending "parliament's authorization to inspect ministers and the Cabinet."
Shortly after Özel comments, fellow members of the main opposition Republican People's Party encircled the speaker's rostrum with arms joined in protest. The fight broke out soon afterward, according to Anadolu.
One senior lawmaker with the ruling Justice and Development (AK) party suffered a broken nose during the brawl, the report said. Nevertheless, the measure was passed Thursday in the 550-member assembly.
Brawls in parliaments of Muslim countries are not at all uncommon. Last year, an Egyptian parliamentarian was attacked by another lawmaker who threw a shoe at him, in anger over the former inviting the Israeli ambassador to dinner at his home.
In 2013, a Jordanian MP opened fire using an AK-47 on one of his colleagues for reasons unknown. No one was hurt.
3. GERMAN COURT JUSTIFIES SYNAGOGUE ATTACK
by Hillel Fendel
A German regional court has ruled that an attempt by three Muslims to burn a synagogue was motivated by 'anti-Israelism', not anti-Semitism. The perpetrators will not be jailed.
The ruling is akin to a "carte blanche for attacks on Jews," and is itself anti-Semitic, according to the European Jewish Congress. The organization reacted with "outrage and disbelief" to the decision.
The German court in the city of Wuppertal, affirming a lower court decision, ruled that a violent attempt to burn the city's synagogue in 2014 was a justified expression of criticism of Israel's policies in Gaza. The attack took place on the anniversary of Kristallnacht, a Nazi pogrom which left almost a hundred Jews dead and where over 1,000 synagogues – including the original synagogue in Wuppertal – were burnt and destroyed.
"It is unbelievable that attempts to burn a synagogue have been equated with displeasure of Israeli government policies," said Dr. Moshe Kantor, President of the EJC. "This court decision equates to open season on Jews."
The local Wuppertal court panel said in its original 2015 decision that the three Muslims wanted to draw "attention to the Gaza conflict" with Israel. The court deemed the attack not to be motivated by anti-Semitism, and handed down suspended sentences for the three.
"This court decision can also lead to anarchy across Germany," said Kantor, "because it provides a legal justification for the targeting of any minority, religion and nationality on the basis of a conflict that they could be in some way connected to because of religious or national ties. Is it possible that when Arabs are targeted by far-right groups, it could be claimed they are reacting to the bloodshed and violence in the Arab world? That of course would be absurd, but like in many other areas, there appears to be a separate rule when it comes to Jews and anti-Semitism."
German politician Volker Beck, a leading Green Party MP, agreed. "This is a mistaken decision as far as the motives of the perpetrators are concerned," he was reported to have said. He noted that the burning of a synagogue in Germany can only be defined as anti-Semitism.
"What do Jews in Germany have to do with the Middle East conflict? Every bit as much as Christians, non-religious people or Muslims in Germany, namely, absolutely nothing. The ignorance of the judiciary toward anti-Semitism is for many Jews in Germany especially alarming," said Beck.
4. YESHA LEADERS INVITED TO TRUMP INAUGURATION
by David Rosenberg
The incoming Trump administration has invited two senior leaders from the Jewish community in Judea and Samaria to attend the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States next Friday.
Maaleh Adumim Mayor Benny Kasriel and Efrat Mayor Oded Revivi were invited to the inauguration and, according to a report Friday morning in Makor Rishon, are planning on attending.
In addition to his position as Mayor of Efrat, Revivi also heads the Yesha Council's foreign affairs department.
There was reportedly some debate within the Yesha Council as to whether the two should attend the inauguration since the Trump administration has yet to delineate its policy vis-à-vis Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, Mekor Rishon's Ariel Kahane wrote, but on Thursday night it was decided the mayors would accept the invite and take part in the event.
Yesha Council spokesperson Yigal Dilmoni thanked the incoming Trump administration for the invitations, and said they presaged a new and more constructive relationship between Israel and the White House.
"This is a harbinger of things to come," said Dilmoni, "that a new wind is blowing from the US that suggests a change in relations with Israel, especially with regard to communities in Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley. This new spirit has been expressed in a number of ways, including the visit by Governor Mike Hucakbee last week to Maaleh Adumim."
5. OPINION: FRANCE AND ANOTHER ROUNDUP OF JEWS
by Jack Engelhard
Honest, I thought they were kidding when I read that leaders from 70 countries were heading for Paris to once and for all solve "The Jewish Question."
The meeting is taking place on Sunday and yes, it wasn't put quite like that; they have it as a Paris Conference to solve the Israeli/Arab issue – as if they really have Israel's best interests at heart. This is baloney. All they care about is some new trick to divide Israel out of existence. The paperwork has already been done.
First of all, 70 countries? How many bigots can you squeeze into one room? Apparently most of the world.
So that's the story. They have nothing better to do than zoom in on six and a half million Jews at home in the Jewish State. That Obama is a part if this makes is doubly obnoxious.
Trump will have to fix this and pronto.
That these Jews live with nearly two million Arabs in the only democracy in the Middle East – never mind.
That the Arab/Israeli conflict is the least important issue facing the world at the moment – forget this too.
It's about nostalgia. The French and the rest of them can't get over the good old days when Jews could be rounded up and TRANSPORTED to Auschwitz.
The Wannsee Conference comes to mind and if you don't know what happened there we'll talk about it some other time.
Except that it was at Wannsee where Hitler's top lieutenants got together to discuss how best to TRANSPORT Europe's entire Jewish Population.
We know the result. No amount of diplomatic double-speak can hide the fact that this is the same Europe all over again.
Why am I bringing up Wannsee when more to the point, for me personally at least, I should be bringing up Vel' d'Hiv. This was a French indoor bicycle stadium that was used by the French as a way station, a first stop toward transport to the death camps.
Jews brought there had no food, no water, no air, no pity, no hope. They had nothing but horror. (Drancy was another and actually the first transport stop.)
The history books have it as the Vel' d'Hiv Roundup, or The Roundup of Paris, but my family needs no history book to know what happened.
Over a period of two days and nights, July 16/17, 1942, more than 13,000 Jews were rounded up for transport – among them 4,000 children and infants.
The Gestapo were delighted. They had asked for only about half that number. The French had never been so efficient.
Our home was Toulouse. This was the Free Zone according to Vichy. Free Zone?
"Not at all," says Sarah. "The Gestapo were all over the place. They were directing traffic on my way to school – in German."
Jews were being picked off along the streets. Everybody waited for the knock on the door. We were next…and all of it happened awfully fast.
One day you're a proper citizen of France surrounded by hospitable Christian neighbors. Next day you're a criminal.
Altogether more than 70,000 Jews living in France were handed over to the Gestapo throughout the war.
My sister covers it in her memoir "Sarah and Abraham." I tell it in my memoir "Escape From Mount Moriah."
The film "The Sorrow and the Pity" documents France's shame. Alain Delon tells it well in the movie drama "Mr. Klein."
So this is a big story and it is nothing new. It is simply happening again. Once again the nations are disturbed.
They are disturbed by the fact that the Jewish people can't be rounded up for transport. It used to be so simple.
Now the Jews have a home – Israel. This is what irks them and here they come again to fix their "Jewish Problem."
So I have a personal say in this and I say France's shame will endure longer than a meeting on Sunday. This is a shame unforgivable and everlasting.
Ditto the rest of this heartless world.

6. GEORGE SOROS LOSES $1 BILLION BETTING TRUMP WOULD TANK MARKETS
by Gary Willig
Billionaire George Soros lost approximately $1 billion in investments after betting that the US economy would tank following Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 US Presidential election, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
Soros, a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton and left-wing causes, believed that the stock market would see a collapse after Trump's upset win. The Dow Jones has instead risen 9.3% since the election.
In contrast, Stanley Druckenmiller, a former deputy of Soros, correctly foresaw that the market would see brief losses due to the shock over the Trump victory, but would quickly rebound. His fund registered a ten percent gain over the year, compared to only five percent for Soros' fund.
Soros manages the $30 million Soros Fund Management LLC. He is currently valued by Forbes at $24.9 billion.
7. 'UN MAY PASS NEW ANTI-ISRAEL RESOLUTION BEFORE INAUGURATION'
by David Rosenberg
The United Nations Security Council may push for an additional resolution targeting Israel before President Obama leaves office next Friday, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said on Thursday.
Noting that the UN Security Council, which in December passed a resolution lambasting Israel for Jewish communities in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, was scheduled to meet on January 17th, just three days ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration and two days after a conference in Paris intended to pressure Israel and the Palestinian Authority to reach a final status agreement.
Danon slammed the conference, calling it a "reward" for the Palestinian Authority's refusal to engage in direct negotiations with Israel
"This conference constitutes a reward to the Palestinians for continuing to avoid negotiations while promoting terrorism," said Danon.
"The hypocrisy and the obsessive focus on Israel has reached new heights," Danon added. "These one-sided initiatives not only fail in bringing us closer to peace, but they actually encourage terrorism like we saw in last week's horrific attack in Jerusalem."
Nor was the timing of the conference and the UN Security Council meeting coincidental, said Danon, saying there is an effort presently underway to push through an additional resolution against Israel.
"[W]e are witnessing an attempt to promote a last minute initiative before the new US administration takes office. Supporters of the Palestinians are looking for further anti-Israel measures at the Security Council."
8. 6 CHILDREN DEAD, 4 INJURED AS FIRE TEARS THROUGH BALTIMORE HOME
by David Rosenberg
Six children were killed early Thursday morning as a fire ripped through their home in Baltimore, Maryland.
Authorities say the fire began just after midnight while all 10 family members were at home.
Four of the 10 – including the mother and three of her children – managed to escape, thanks to the help of the woman's 8-year old daughter.
But six other children never made it out of the blaze, including a 9-month old baby boy. Firefighters recovered their bodies from the smoldering ruins on Thursday.
The four survivors all suffered injuries in the fire. And while the 8-year old hero who is credited with helping to save her mother and two younger brothers is in good condition, the other three survivors are in critical condition.
The six victims killed in the fire included an 11-year old girl, a 10-year old girl, twin 3-year old girls, a 2-year old boy, and a 9-month old baby boy.
US Congressional Rep. Elijah Cummings (Dem.), at whose office the children's mother worked, issued the following statement:
I am asking that our entire community pray for my staff member, Katie Malone, and her young family.
Katie has worked as a Special Assistant in my Catonsville office for nearly 11 years where she dutifully serves my constituents in the areas of immigration, postal services, and the military, including Service Academy nominations.
I am grateful to the Baltimore City Fire Department and all those who responded quickly to the devastating fire.
My staff is a family and this unimaginable tragedy is shocking and heartbreaking to us all. I again ask for your prayers.
