1. 'WE CAN'T LET NETANYAHU DISSOLVE BUILDING'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

MK Betzalel Smotrich (Jewish Home) is bothered by the Security Cabinet’s agreement to restrain building in Judea and Samaria and build only in existing communities.

"The decision of the Cabinet is very worrying," he said. "Although it does leave some maneuvering room during the test of action in the field, experience has shown that Netanyahu is very bad in tests for producing results. There is no reason to think that, this time, it will be any different."

Smotrich pointed as evidence to Netanyahu’s effective admission yesterday that he had instructed a halt in the marketing of 2,000 housing units out of those approved two months ago, after his office had denied that this was the case.

"This admission, along with the fact that since the elections in the US the supreme planning council in Judea and Samaria has not convened - which means that the plans the Prime Minister ‘approved’ were not advanced, shows that the 5,500 housing units presumably approved was nothing more than a bluff - as I asserted then. As I said, there is no foundation to the assumption that it will be different this time."

Smotrich emphasized: "We will have to be monitoring, and we can’t let Netanyahu dissolve building."

The Jewish Home party has demanded to convene the supreme planning council immediately following the Passover holiday in order to put the Security Cabinet decision to immediate test. "We will put on the council’s table all the plans which need to be decided upon and we’ll see whether the PM will approve progress on them or not. If he doesn’t approve them, we will be unable to open the summer session of the Knesset in a normal way," Smotrich threatened.

Smotrich’s statements come as Netanyahu told the ministers at last night’s cabinet meeting that, taking into account Trump's positions, Israel will take significant steps to reduce the expansion of the built-up areas of Judea and Samaria.

He added that Israel would significantly reduce new construction in the region "in order to allow for progress in the peace process."

As part of the new policy, Israel will build within the existing built-up areas, wherever possible, and wherever possible, Israel will build near the existing construction line.

In places where these two criteria cannot be met due to legal, security or topographical constraints, Israel will allow construction in the area closest to the existing construction line.

Netanyahu also clarified to the ministers that Israel would not allow the establishment of new unorganized outposts.

2. UK COLONEL: 'THE PALESTINIANS WANT TO DESTROY ISRAEL'
by Channel 20

Colonel Richard Camp, who commanded the British forces in Afghanistan from 2003 until 2006, spoke with Channel 20 about the Arab-Israeli conflict.

"Israel, for many years now, has been subject to the greatest slur campaign in the history of the human race," Col. Kemp said.

"Many countries are saying, that if Israel, for example, ceased to 'occupy,' so-called, the 'West Bank', or ceased to have 'settlements' there then that will bring peace, it won't bring peace. All that the Palestinians want is the annihilation of Israel. The Palestinian leadership does not want a two state solution."

3. 'POLICE NEED TO ADMIT THAT LOD ATTACK WAS TERROR'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Security forces are investigating the attack this week in the city of Lod in central Israel, during which Revital Kenino was stabbed by an Arab terrorist.

Despite locals in Lod reporting the nationalistic nature of the attack, police have been presenting the attack as criminal in intent.

Last night, Amichai Langfeld, a Lod city councilman, sent to Jewish residents of the city an  announcement in which he declared the stabbing to be a terror attack. "It’s a great miracle for all residents of the neighborhood, and a great miracle for Revital and the dear Kenino family."

"It appears that we’re talking about a terrorist who waited with the goal of murdering someone young in a surprise attack or stab in the back and, in the merit of Revital, who surprised him and confounded his plans, the incident did not end, thank G-d, as planned."

Langfeld noted that security officials are still refusing to say that the attack was a terror attack. "Unfortunately, police and security officials are not ready in the meantime to say it outright, even after the family and other officials honored their request to wait until the stabber was caught. We will act in every possible way so that police announce as soon as possible the truth of this incident."

4. CLOSE TO 40 PALESTINIAN SCHOOLS NAMED FOR TERRORISTS
by Hillel Fendel

Schools in the United States are often named for historical figures, with a large majority of them having the names of Presidents - Lincoln, Jefferson, Kennedy, Roosevelt – and other public and historical figures. The educational message transmitted is one of patriotism, continuity, and honor to those who so notably contributed to their country.

In the Palestinian Authority, however, the situation is somewhat different. There, dozens of schools are named for murderers. A list compiled <https://www.palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=608 by Palestinian Media Watch> (PMW) finds close to 40 schools named for terrorists who succeeded in murdering large numbers of Israelis, "thereby presenting murderers who targeted civilians as role models for Palestinian ‎children."

Names of ‎some schools glorify Martyrdom, and one is even named for a Hitler ‎associate and Nazi war criminal responsible for the deaths of thousands. Children in ‎such schools interviewed on PA TV have explained that studying there turned the terrorists into role models for them, who then want to "reach ‎the level" of the terrorist their school is named after. ‎[Official PA TV, March 27, 2014]‎

Among the highlights of the list:

Three schools – the Dalal Mughrabi High Schools in Gaza and Hevron and a kindergarten in Dura - are named after the female terrorist who led the most lethal terror ‎attack in Israel’s history. She and others hijacked a bus in 1978, and they murdered  37 civilians, including 12 children.

Three schools and a college are also named after Abu Jihad, planner of the above attack. ‎

Another three schools – in Rafah and elsewhere in Gaza - are named for Salah Khalaf, who planned the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics (Sept. 5, 1972), and the murder of two Americans in Sudan (March 1, 1973).

The Amin Al-Husseini Elementary School, in El-Bireh ‎just north of Jerusalem, is named for a notorious Nazi collaborator, the Grand ‎Mufti of Jerusalem during the ‎British Mandate. At one point during World War II, he was responsible for a Muslim SS ‎division that murdered thousands ‎of Serbs and Croats. When the ‎Nazis offered to free some Jewish ‎children, Al-Husseini fought against ‎their release, and 5,000 ‎were sent to the gas chambers.‎

The Martyr Ahmed Yassin School for Boys in Jenin is named after Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin,

responsible for many terror attacks and the deaths of ‎hundreds of civilians in suicide bombings. ‎

A girls' school in Tulkarem, near Kfar Saba, is named after Hamas bomb builder Nash’at Abu Jabara.

Two schools and a high school sports auditorium, all in Gaza, are named after the planner of the Munich Olympics massacre, Ali Hassan Salameh, in which 11 Israeli athletes were murdered.‎

5. TEENAGE TERROR VICTIM: I AM STILL BEAUTIFUL
by Gary Willig

Ayala Shapira, the teenager who delivered a heartfelt speech at the inaugural conference of the European Friends of Judea and Samaria in the European Parliament this week after having been severely injured in a terrorist attack three years ago, does not plan on letting her injuries stop her from fulfilling her dreams.

"The most lucrative profession in the Palestinian Authority is to murder a Jew, as I said in my speech in the parliament," Ayala, who turns 14 in three months, said in an interview with Yediot Aharonot.

When she was 11, Ayala was returning from her weekly lessons with her advanced mathematics course in her father's car when a group of terrorists through a Molotov Cocktail through the car window. Ayala suffered severe burns from the attack and was hospitalized for eight months.

One of the attackers was a 16 year old teenager who carried out the attack so that the PA would provide for his family as it does for all Arabs who serve in Israeli prisons for attacking Jews.

After here speech at the Parliament in Brussels, Ayala traveled with the delegation to a restaurant where she removed the pressure mask that makes it difficult for her to eat. "I have no problem with people seeing me like I am," she said.

"I can't say, 'I want to be beautiful,' because it means that today I'm not beautiful, and that's not true. Of course there are people who are much prettier than me, like my sister Yiska, who is just perfect, but external beauty is not everything in life," she added.

Alaya required four skin transplants and months of rehabilitation following her injuries.

"I can not be exposed to the sun, so I wear a hat over the mask," she said.

She must continue to wear the mask until her scars stop growing.

Alaya is currently focused on her studies, but she still has plans for later in life. "I guess I'll go to National Service. I want to write, to be a writer. I have many sources of inspiration, and of course I dream of a family with as many children as possible."

6. ISRAEL TO 'SIGNIFICANTLY' REDUCE CONSTRUCTION, BUT NOT STOP IT
by Nitsan Keidar

Israel’s new policy on construction in Judea and Samaria will be in line with President Donald Trump’s views on the issue.

At Thursday night’s Cabinet meeting, during which a new community for the residents of Amona was approved, Netanyahu told the ministers that taking into account Trump's positions, Israel will take significant steps to reduce the expansion of the built-up areas of Judea and Samaria.

Meanwhile, a senior White House official told Haaretz on Thursday night that Netanyahu had committed to the creation of a new community for the residents of Amona before Trump directly expressed his concerns regarding further construction.

According to the official, Netanyahu told the American government that he intends to stand by his commitment to build a new community for the residents of Amona. At the same time, the official also said that Netanyahu was also planning to adopt a new policy on Judea and Samaria from here on out that would take Trump's concerns into account.

"President Trump has publicly and privately expressed his concerns regarding settlements," said the official.

"As the Administration has made clear: while the existence of settlements is not in itself an impediment to peace, further unrestrained settlement activity does not help advance peace. The Israeli government has made clear that going forward, its intent is to adopt a policy regarding settlement activity that takes the President's concerns into consideration. The United States welcomes this.

"We will continue to work with Israelis and Palestinians, and other players in the region, to create a climate that is conducive to peace. We hope that the parties will take reasonable actions moving forward that create a climate that is conducive to peace," added the official.

During Thursday’s meeting of the Political-Security Cabinet, the Prime Minister notified the ministers that 2,000 of the 5,700 housing units approved for construction in Judea and Samaria in January were now approved for immediate planning and marketing.

In addition, the Prime Minister informed the cabinet that nearly 1,000 dunams (247 acres) of land in Samaria would be declared state land. The land in question is located near the Jewish towns of Eli, and Adei Ad.

7. 'STOP FUNDING PALESTINIAN TERRORISM'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

The Friends of Judea and Samaria in the European Parliament held an inaugural conference this week. During the conference the pro-Israel group featured an educational video which will be distributed throughout Europe next week.

The video was produced by the Zionist Organization for Israel and by the Settlers of Samaria Committee, and reveals how the money of European taxpayers is used to fund terrorism against Israeli citizens.

The video clip is narrated by Shai Maimon, who was wounded in a shooting attack in which his friend ,Malachi Rosenfeld, was murdered two years ago while they were on their way to a basketball game.

"Your tax money is funding the murderers that killed my friend, Malachi, and who injured me," Maimon says in the video. "It is paying for their salaries and pensions."

"Would you give money to finance the terrorists who carried out the massacre in Bataclan in Paris or in the London Mtero, or maybe the Twin Towers in New York?"

The European Union and many European countries provide the Palestinian Authority with millions of dollars every year.

"I believe that the vast majority of European citizens are unaware that their money is used to finance terror and to destroy families like the Maimon family, the Shapira family and other families," said Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council.

"This campaign will raise awareness among them to exert upwards pressure from European citizens on their elected representatives in the European Parliament and their governments," Dagan said.

Paul stood on his porch in order to escape the flames; fortunately, a fire truck was already nearby and rushed to his aid. The firefighters extricated Paul just moments before the fire consumed his apartment entirely, lowering him on a ladder from the third floor.

He his suffering from severe third-degree burns on a third of his body and his hospitalized in intensive care.

His wife, Lois had been shopping when the fire broke out. The two are pensioners.

1. 'THE ADMINISTRATION PRIORITIZES THE BOND WITH ISRAEL'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

[youtube:2026451]

David Friedman was on Wednesday sworn in as United States Ambassador to Israel by Vice President Mike Pence.

"I’m very proud to say that my nomination represents the first time in American history that the U.S. Ambassador to Israel was nominated by the President as early as the first day of his presidency," Friedman said in remarks after the swearing in ceremony.

"I’m equally proud to say that this is the first time in American history that the U.S. Ambassador to Israel was the first ambassador approved by the Senate and given the Oath of Office."

"Those facts speak volumes about how highly the Trump-Pence administration prioritizes our unbreakable bond with the State of Israel," Friedman added.

He noted that he looks forward to working with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson "to promote peace and stability within the Middle East."

"My children and most of my grandchildren are here. They are everything to me. Seeing the pride in their eyes inspires me to take on this new task with great energy and enthusiasm."

Pence, who spoke before the swearing in ceremony, said that President Donald Trump "is a lifelong friend of Israel and the Jewish people, and under his leadership, if the world knows nothing else, the world will know this: America stands with Israel."

"One of the clearest signs of the President’s commitment to the State of Israel and to its people is in his choice of David Friedman as America’s Ambassador to Israel," continued Pence, who told Friedman, "You were literally born for this job. It’s because of families like yours that the Jewish people are such a beautiful thread and fabric of this nation."

"In over 35 years as a successful lawyer, you’ve always made it a priority to support Israel’s peace, security and prosperity, and you’ve worked tirelessly to deepen the friendship between our two nations."

"You’ve always been quick to rise to Israel’s defense from those who would condemn her, because in your heart you know that those who hate Israel hate Israel not for what she does wrong, but for what she does right," said Pence, who also said that Friedman’s care of compassion for Israel "is an inspiration to the President and an inspiration to us all."

2. THIS IS NOT HOW TO BUILD THE BULWARK OF THE WAR AGAINST TERROR
by Rabbi Dr. Chaim Shein

Arab terror, which has accompanied the Return to Zion and the establishment of the State of Israel for more than 120 years, is incomparably cruel. Rioters, terrorists, and inhuman murderers carry out attacks that do not distinguish between women, children, and the elderly, and whose entire aim is to bring death and destruction.

But there is no doubt that the incident in which the two reserve soldiers were murdered, Yossi Avrahami and Vadim Nurzhitz, was one of the most painful and horrific. The two mistakenly entered Ramallah and Palestinian policemen led them to the lynch and took an active part in it.

The act of lynching and murder and maiming the bodies took place the day after Yom Kippur in 2000, immediately after the beginning of the second Intifada.

Despite the years that have passed, many of us remember the blood-stained pictures of the murderers and the crowd gathered around the bodies in Al-Manar Square. The Palestinian Authority made every effort to conceal the documentation of the event, without success - Italian television filmed the event and it was broadcast. Undoubtedly, contempt of the soldiers' bodies encouraged more acts of terror and significantly impaired the army's ability to deter terrorism. The Israeli government, in the wake of the incident, toughened its position and actions against terrorist operatives.

Khatam Maghari, one of the lynch perpetrators, was convicted of murder and has since been serving his prison sentence. Last night it became clear that the same Maghari was about to be released due to the shortening of his sentence and his sentence being readjusted to 11 years only.

The circumstances of the release are puzzling and raise serious questions regarding the discretion behind the decision to release him. If Maghari was a party to the murder and took part in the lynching, why was he released? The message that is conveyed to potential terrorists is that a lenient punishment will be imposed by Israel for heinous acts. If it turned out that there was a visual or other difficulty casting a shadow on his conviction, why did it take so many years to identify the difficulty? The late identification sheds a grim light on the judicial system insofar as it relates to terrorist attacks.

The families of the soldiers who were murdered in cold blood, like all citizens of the state, are entitled to a detailed explanation of the reason for the immediate release in a retrial after an indictment had been amended, even though petitions regarding the conviction were filed and rejected. The convicted murderer will quickly become the hero of the Palestinian street, in the Palestinian kindergartens boys and girls will appear waving hands dipped in red as they were immediately after the murder. Abbas will receive him in his office and his family will continue to receive the support given to all the terrorists who are sitting in Israeli jails.

It would be proper that an objective legal opinion should examine all the circumstances of the case, and especially the legal proceedings that led to the conviction and the arrangement that led to the release. That is not how to build a bulwark in the war against terror, and certainly not how to build the trial.

3. IDF THREATENS TO PUNISH SOLDIERS WHO PROTEST CO-ED COMBAT UNITS
by Hillel Fendel

The IDF is taking a surprisingly strident, and even threatening, tone against soldiers who, on their off-time, protest the army's increasing integration of women in combat units.

Hesder yeshiva soldiers have begun distributing literature explaining the dangers of mixed-gender combat units, and of women in combat roles altogether.

The Hesder soldiers are generally considered the army's best, and their campaign has taken off over just the past few days.

"In the face of all logic," the distributed pamphlets state, "and "ignoring expert opinions and research, the IDF is undergoing a transformation that harms its female soldiers, impairs its combat abilities, and detracts from the safety of all of us. It is not logical, it is not moral, it is not humane."

The name of the new campaign: "Saving the IDF."

The IDF, which has now set as one of its primary objectives the full integration of women throughout the military, responded harshly. The IDF Spokesman's Office even compared the new campaign with that of the extremist haredi group that says one must be killed rather than register for the draft: "The call to 'Save the IDF' is similar to the calls coming from the extremists in the haredi community that oppose enlistment in the IDF and the fulfillment of the laws of the country."

That is, the IDF Spokesman's Office compares the mass protests and campaign to oppose at all costs even registering with the IDF, on the one hand, to those who seek to warn, from within, against dangers in the IDF, and advocate a short delay, at most, in enlisting in the IDF.

The Spokesman's statement continues: "The IDF views with gravity, and condemns any attempt at any form of refusal. Calls for division with the IDF and insults to the honor of people must be opposed and uprooted. Everything must be done to continue to defend the State of Israel by all those who serve, from all sectors of Israeli society. Participation in this act is forbidden to IDF soldiers, and the subject will be intensively investigated and treated with severity."

The campaign against mixed combat units also cites the physiological differences between men and women, and the consequent differences in the way in which they are trained. While men must run with two canteens and five bullet cartridges in order to qualify as a combat soldier, females need run with only one canteen and two bullet cartridges to qualify for the same.

In addition, men must jump and climb over a wall, while women are permitted to stand on a bench in order to qualify for the wall-climbing test.

Former IDF Generals Yiftach Ron-Tal and Avigdor Kahalani are quoted in opposing the IDF's new gender-integration policies.

The soldiers participating in the campaign are currently in the "Yeshiva studies" part of their IDF service, and are to return to active combat service only several months from now. "It is important for us to go out to the streets and distribute the literature," one of them was quoted as saying, "in order to show how harmful this approach is for the army service of many soldiers and for the entire IDF."

4. TRUMP'S MESSAGE
by Gary Willig

US President Donald Trump conveyed a message to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu through world-renowned Attorney Alan Dershowitz, Haaretz reported Wednesday evening.

An Israeli source told Haaretz that Dershowitz delivered the message to the Prime Minister in a phone call last week, after meeting the President by chance at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in southern Florida.

Trump and Dershowitz spoke for over 20 minutes.

Dershowitz told Haaretz that one of the subjects they discussed was the Arab-Israeli peace process. Trump said that he knew of Dershowitz's friendship with Netanyahu and how highly the Prime Minister values his advice. He therefore asked Dershowitz to convey his message to Netanyahu.

"The president told me he loves Israel and likes Netanyahu and said a few times he wants to get a deal between Israel and the Palestinians," Dershowitz said.

According to Dershowitz, Trump showed impressive knowledge of the core issues in the conflict including borders, security, the status of Jerusalem, Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria, and the status of Arab refugees and their descendants.

"He knows very well the possible elements of the deal," Dershowitz said. "The president told me he thinks Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas wants to get a deal with Israel and that he [Trump] thinks that the time is ripe for a deal and that it is possible."

Dershowitz did not confirm or deny that he delivered the President's message that peace is possible now to Netanyahu,

In the coming weeks, President Trump will meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Reports suggest that Trump is interested in pursuing a regional peace initiative in the Middle East, of which Egypt would be one of the main delegates.

5. WHO WILL LIGHT 'THE TORCH OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE'?
by "Hat'futsot Ve'anachnu"

For the first time, the "torch of the Jewish people" at the upcoming Yom Haatzmaut (Israel Independence Day) ceremony will be lit by a Jew who is not an Israeli.

The Diaspora Ministry, together with Minister Miri Regev, Chairman of the committee for symbols and ceremonies, has established an international campaign calling on Jews in the diaspora to submit candidacy or recommend a fitting candidate to light the torch at the annual Yom Haatzmaut ceremony at the Har Herzl military cemetery in Jerusalem, with this year’s theme being "50 years since the liberation and unification of the capital of Israel - Jerusalem."

The campaign for locating candidates among the Jews of the diaspora will begin this week, and in the Diaspora Ministry, there are hopes that the campaign will lead to the strengthening of the connection between diaspora Jewry and the State of Israel. After suggestions are accepted, a special committee will convene to decide the winning candidate.

"The State of Israel is the nation of the Jewish people," the Diaspora Ministry said. "Building it and maintaining it is the responsibility of every Jew in the world."

Recommendations will be received until April 3 at 10 am, to the email address Masuot@most.gov.il

6. A MILITARY STRATEGY OF EQUALITY
by Menachem Rahat

1) Since the beginning of the IDF gender revolution, in which all positions have been opened to female soldiers even at the cost of a severe blow to national security, all in the name of a Golden Calf called Equality, many people, not only rabbis but also senior IDF officers in actice service and the reserves have tried to understand what is behind this madness.

Does the army not know that a woman's body mass fat percentage is 60% higher than that of a man's? That men's cardiovascular capacity is 30% higher? Whose aerobic capacity is 25% higher?

2) But the IDF casts aside all the physiological distinctions for the sake of imagined egalitarianism. The main thing is that we should appear avant-garde. Egalitarianism is stretched to the point of absurdity: Shared bathrooms - a twisted idea that, had it been proposed in the IDF five years ago, the one suggesting it would have been confined to a closed institution. Mixed-gender service in the suffocating, intimate space of a tank; the long sprawl of a male and a female soldier, bodies close, while trying to lay ambushes; joint naval courses that require total bodily exposure in a rubber dinghy at sea for long hours; night guard together in the pillbox, and the list goes on.

The absurdities sometimes come to crime: Female soldiers have contracted cervical infections, which doctors believe will remain permanently. The air force, which refrained from employing air crew members when they were pregnant, annihilated logic in the name of egalitarianism and are now allowing female air crew members to fly in a state of advanced pregnancy (week 25). But they confined them to the transport system, four hours a day, and only up to 8,000 feet, and they attached an air crewman to the pregnant pilot. Who cares that equality costs us resources? Who cares that equality does not contribute anything to the operational capabilities of the air force?

3) Standing behind this madness is no fleeting whim of Chief of Staff Eizenkot and/or our public relations Chief of Staff and IDF Spokesperson Motti Almoz, who are trying to market equality as an international success story. After all, Golani Corps Eizenkot understands what every basic trainee understands, that a female soldier can not be expected to be as violent as a vicious Rottweiler, with a knife between her teeth and murder in her eyes, even if they paint camouflage on her face and equip her with a new Commando Tavor or Micro-Tavor X-95.

So what motivates them? Beyond the line of logic and reason, there stand seven words that purport to change the act of Creation: "From women to gender - the conceptual basis". The document bearing this title, which was placed on the Chief of Staff's desk and turned into a systematic teaching and an ideological and strategic basis for the revolution, contains a lot of bla bla, but also contains hidden an international discovery worthy of the Nobel Prize for Foolery: "Viewing humanity as divided into two groups is not accurate, fixing human beings into unsuitable patterns constitutes an incorrect and inefficient basis for extracting human resources ... The biological gender of humans does not necessarily determine their competence and ability to perform any function, but rather their talents, skills, and characteristics." Brave new world.

Thus, in pseudo-academic formulations, which express a contemporary, seemingly postmodern approach, as if there really are no differences between a man and a woman (except for certain very negligible organs, what else?), the document that was born in sin in the school of the Women's Affairs advisor to the Chief of Staff contains inanities, blatherings, and musings - all in the spirit of absolute equality. The day will soon come when all this garbage will be thrown, like many other ideologies-in-exile, into the dustbin of attempts to change nature.

4) In order to remove any doubt, it is emphasized that there are special functions that female soldiers carry out at a quality level, which are superb: The use of radar (Keshet), sensitive intelligence functions in the 8200 Intel Unit, sitting in front of screens intended to expose hostile incidents in advance, and more.

And so it is outside of the IDF. This is not a case of imprisonment of women in ghettos. Many women are now studying Torah and the sciences. In synagogues women are invited to deliver a Torah lesson on Shabbat. In a well-known synagogue in Jerusalem, completely Orthodox, a woman says a fascinating Torah sermon before the Mussaf prayer. Not everyone will like it, but that is the trend. That's how they serve G-d.

No one denies woman's high mental abilities. But this has nothing to do with the IDF's futile effort to equalize the physiological characteristics of the two sexes. The last one who tried to build a wo/man without a sexual identity was the Maharal of Prague. But what came out for him? - Golem.

5) Behind the fear of many good people - from nationalist and haredi rabbis to purely secular parents - from the move to turn the best units into a women's corps, stands authentic civic responsibility: First for the security of the State, but also for the sons and daughters who sacrifice their lives for the protection of the people and the State. The new recruits bring with them the excellent education they received at home and in the education system, but hormones also break loose.

The army, at some stage, will have to decide whether it provides security or equality; Whether it prefers religious recruits who don't touch girls, or female soldiers whose contribution is inferior in the battlefield. There is no "both." There is only either/or.

7. UNESCO WON'T ERASE JEWISH CONNECTION TO TEMPLE MOUNT, AFTER ALL?
by Nitsan Keidar

Arab countries are softening their attempts to hurt Israel in UNESCO, it seems. A resolution which is supposed to go up for vote in the organization at the beginning of May and which has been unofficially distributed reveals a significant diplomatic breakthrough on the part of the Israeli Foreign Ministry at one of the toughest fronts Israel faces in the UN.

After a series of resolutions which attempted to erase the connection of the Jewish people to the holy places in Jerusalem and to present those places as holy to Muslims only, Arab countries have decided to take a step back on the sensitive issue affecting Jews worldwide.

The new resolution, which will go up for a vote in the course of a meeting on "Jerusalem, Gaza and Judea and Samaria," has cut out significant portions of anti-Israel content existing in previous resolutions.

In the past two weeks, a concerted effort by the Foreign Ministry and the delegation in Paris has taken place to soften the resolution, while, during the moments leading up to the vote, the Prime Minister himself is expected to lead the diplomatic struggle.

Israel’s Ambassador to UNESCO, Carmel Shama Hacohen, said that "when we’re talking about anti-Israel resolutions spearheaded by Arab countries, you only count your accomplishments when you’re leaving the building after the vote. It’s better to get a draft of the resolution which doesn’t directly harm [our claims to] the Temple Mount and the Western Wall, which are the heart of the Jewish people, but [neither] do we intend to sit quietly when they stab us in other places, even if they are less sensitive."

He added that "the State of Israel has decided to put an end to the obsession and incitement within international organizations, even if it takes years - and until then, to raise the price that initiators and participants [in anti-Israel activity] pay. There is no doubt that, with the new administration in Washington headed by President Trump and Ambassador Haley, the goal which, until recently, appeared to be a fantasy has become an achievable goal."

"In any event," he concluded, "we will work in the coming month around the world and around the clock to continue and explain the truth, of today and of history, and we will expect - but won’t build upon - the reasonableness of our neighbors."

8. WATCH: HAMAS PUTS ISRAELI OFFICIALS IN THE CROSSHAIRS
by Tal Polon

[youtube:2026440]

A new poster released by supporters of the Hamas terror organization threatens the lives of Israeli ambassadors abroad, picturing them inside the crosshairs of a weapon.

The poster shows four Israeli ambassadors - Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer, Ambassador to China Zvi Heifetz, Ambassador to New Zealand Itzhak Gerberg, and Ambassador to Singapore Yael Rubinstein - each surrounded by the crosshairs of a rifle. The poster announces, "We are ready for the challenge. We will live and see who is stronger."

The poster is strongly evocative of a video released last night by Hamas. In that video, various Israeli defense officials and top military brass are shown within the crosshairs of a sniper rifle, after which the video threatens: "the type of payback will be in accordance with the deed."

Hamas has been strengthening its propaganda efforts after top Hamas terrorist Mazen Faqha was shot dead last week.

Hamas blamed Israel for the killing, also saying that it believed the killers to have received help from inside Gaza.

Following the shooting, Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said that "the military and political leadership of Hamas is ready to meet the occupier's challenge."

8. RABBI STAV: PRIVATIZE 'KASHRUT MONOPOLY'

1. 'WE WANT TO MAKE KASHRUT MORE EFFICIENT: IS THAT SO BAD?'
by Hezki Baruch

Rabbi David Stav, the head of the Tzohar Rabbinic Organization, explained to Arutz Sheva  finds it difficult to understand why the organization's desire to privatize the kashrut market under the Chief Rabbinate is problematic.

He wondered why Tzohar receives criticism. "I respect every rabbi in Israel and every talmid hacham (Torah scholar), but I would like to [see] matters put in order. Where were all of these rabbis, when we know that for decades there were hundreds of places which were under the supervision of the rabbinate where people ate nonkosher food?"

"But when someone wants to streamline and improve the system, under the supervision of the Chief Rabbinate, it's a disaster. When we have dozens of [rabbis] operating in places who do not need the supervision of the Chief Rabbinate it isn't a disaster. But when Tzohar wants to be a partner [with the Chief Rabbinate] in the kashrut issue, it's a disaster," Rabbi Stav said.

Rabbi Stav said Wednesday at a conference of the Israel Hotel Association that there was a need to change the "monopoly of the rabbinate."

"Monopoly is a bad thing, the franchise can do whatever he wants. We are coming to the rabbinate and the legislator, and we want to change the arrangements by opening up kashrut in order to create competition between the rabbinates. In parallel, we are striving to open kashrut companies in order to produce other alternatives," he said at the conference.

Rabbi Yaakov Ariel, the Chief Rabbi of the city of Ramat Gan, told Arutz Sheva: "I hope that everyone will come to their senses and understand that this is a disaster for kashrut, a disaster for the rabbinate, a disaster for Judaism, a disaster for the Torah and a disaster for the Jewish people."

Despite his opposition to the move, Rabbi Ariel stressed that he does not believe Tzohar has any malicious intent.

"I don’t believe they intend to do this. I’m not a member of Tzohar, but if the organization does really go ahead and offer private kashrut [certification], I’d see that as the destruction of Judaism."

Rabbi Stav responded to Rabbi Ariel's criticism by saying: "Because I respect each rabbi, I do not personally respond or attribute any intent or interest [to my accusers], and I will continue to respect every rabbi in Israel, certainly the elderly Rabbis...The love of the Torah and the concern for the kashrut of the state and Israeli society is more important to us than concern for the honor of one organization or another, or of one rabbi or another."

2. WATCH: THOUSANDS OF HAREDIM PROTEST IN JERUSALEM
by Hezki Baruch

[youtube:2026394]

Thousands of haredim are gathered this evening, Tuesday, on Jerusalem’s Malchei Yisrael Street, the main street connecting the haredi neighborhoods in central Jerusalem, for a protest defined as "the protest of thousands" against "the decree of the draft."

The background for the protest is a number of arrests of haredi youth who did not show up to the draft office and were defined, as a result, as "deserters" by the IDF.

In addition to the central group of protesters on Malchei Yisrael Street, which has been closed to traffic, additional protesters are engaged in confrontations with police on Sarei Yisrael Street at the edges of the haredi neighborhoods, where they are intermittently blocking the Street.

The demonstration this evening is the first significant joint effort between members of the "Edah Haharedit," an extremist haredi group cut off from the State and its institutions since the State’s founding, and the "Jerusalem Faction," a haredi group which, after the death of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, broke off from the central stream of the Lithuanian haredi sector and functions under the leadership of Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach.

One of the speakers at the demonstration compared the State of Israel to the host of enemies of the Jewish people throughout the generations. "The first Prime Minister of Israel, whose name it is forbidden to mention, may his name and memory be erased, said that within 20 years there wouldn’t be a shtreimel [fur hat worn by some haredi men] here, and we are here today and this is our revenge. We will fill the jails. They won’t scare us," he said. "We got past Pharaoh, we got passed the Spanish Inquisition, we got past Hitler, we’ll get past you, too."

3. 'I DID NOT GIVE UP - THE STABBER HESITATED'
by Mordechai Sones

In a conversation with Arutz Sheva, Revital Kenino, the school principal who was stabbed yesterday in the back of her neck by an Arab in the city of Lod, describes her condition and the incident itself.

"I thank the Creator that I returned home to my family and to my children, and we were released last night after a follow-up at the hospital," she said.

On her medical condition, she says: "I have a stab wound in the back and shoulder area, and thank G-d it was a great miracle."

She described the attacker, saying, "I did not give up, I did not fight with him - I just ran and he chased me; I didn't stand there and do nothing. This chase apparently caused him to hesitate and not continue to stab. We are at home thanking the Creator and the people of Israel for worrying and caring," she said.

Kanino was evacuated to Assaf Harofeh Hospital, suffering from stab wounds to the upper body.

MDA emergency medic Mendy Amitai said, "When we arrived on the scene, we saw a 44-year-old woman in an apartment fully conscious, who had been stabbed in the upper part of her body. They told us that she was stabbed in the street and went up to her apartment.

"We gave her initial medical care, which included dressing and stopping the bleeding, and we evacuated her in a moderate and stable condition to the hospital," Amitai added.

4. SILICON VALLEY FUND GIVES $330 THOUSAND TO CAIR, ISLAMIC RELIEF
by Hillel Fendel

The Middle East Forum research center has revealed that the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) has donated a total of over $330,000 to two extremist organizations: the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and Islamic Relief.

The Philadelphia-based Forum contacted SVCF with evidence of the extremist links of CAIR and Islamic Relief, but received no response. The Middle East Forum is now publicly calling for an immediate and permanent termination of SCVF's funding of these organizations, and has started a nationwide campaign to this end.

The SVCF is the country's wealthiest community foundation, with more than $8 billion in assets. It has enjoyed positive press coverage during its 10-year history, but has also come under some criticism. Worst of all, the MEF states, is its flowing generosity to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and Islamic Relief.

MEF says it privately contacted SVCF last month with evidence of the extremism of CAIR and Islamic Relief, including the bigotries and prejudices of its officials and speakers. SVCF officials essentially "refused to discuss the matter," MEF reports, but rather "engaged in a flurry of ad hominem attacks on the Forum."

It is "unconscionable that such a leading institution as SVCF, which claims to support 'understanding and tolerance,'" should help organizations that rely on ignorance and hatred," the Forum declares. "To be precise, CAIR and Islamic Relief have a long history of providing platforms to speakers who denigrate and threaten women, Jews, Christians, the LGBTQ community, and Muslims belonging to minority sects."

As examples, the Forum cites regular speakers at the two organizations' events who have rationalized honor killings or said that men may beat or rape their wives. "It should not be politically divisive," the Forum states, "to state that these ideas are incompatible with SVCF's self-proclaimed commitment to diversity and tolerance."

SVCF did say that CAIR is in "good standing with [U.S.] federal agencies," but the MEF counters that the FBI and the Justice Department have blacklisted CAIR since it was named an unindicted co-conspirator during a terrorism financing case in 2008. Both CAIR and Islamic Relief are designated as terrorist groups in the United Arab Emirates, while the Anti-Defamation League has said that CAIR promotes anti-Jewish sentiment.

By funding them, MEF charges, SVCF is "legitimizing Islamists as leaders of American Islam," enabling them "to speak on behalf of ordinary Muslims."

"If the foundation really wants to put its money where its mouth is," the MEF concludes, it should fund moderate Muslim-American groups working to fight Islamic extremism, and spread the message that intolerance need not be tolerated when doing charitable work with Muslims.

5. 230 NEW UKRANIAN IMMIGRANTS LAND IN ISRAEL
by Yedidya Ben-Or

230 Ukranian immigrants landed in Israel's Ben Gurion Airport on Tuesday, after arriving via a flight arranged by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and headed by Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein.

The immigrants received a warm greeting from Immigration and Absorption Minister Sofa Landver (Yisrael Beytenu).

Of the 78 families, most will settle in the north and center of Israel. Four of the immigrants are Holocaust survivors, and over 40 more are children.

Some of these immigrants come from war-torn areas of the Ukraine, after having lived several years as a refugee.

Alexei and Irena L. arrived in Israel with their daughter from Dnepropetrovsk.

"Life in the Ukraine became no life, constantly," they said, "especially for a family with children. After such extensive fighting, the economic situation is also awful. It was clear to us that if we want a future for our children, we need to build it in Israel."

Holocaust survivor Yitzhak B. said, "The Second World War started when I was twelve. The Jews needed to gather to sign up. My family heard a German soldier call, 'Death to the Jews!' and understood immediately what the signup was about.

"In one second, she made her decision. My family picked up and left, and asked Polish neighbors to hide us. They agreed and we hid there for the entire war. Now that I'm coming to Israel, I feel a real sense of purpose and commitment to the land. I am very happy and excited to meet all of my family members who live in Israel"

When the immigrants got off the plane, Landver immediately began the procedures to register as citizens.

"I'm so happy the wave of immigration continued, because together, we'll know how to give new immigrants who just arrived the best treatment and reception, in every area of their lives," Landver said."

Rabbi Eckstein said, "These new immigrants who are joining us, are coming with complex baggage from living in a war zone suffering from difficult economic times. The fact that these people have the ability to come here and start a new life, in a strong and independent country, is a great salvation for them.

"This holiday of freedom which we will soon sell is the closest expression of freedom that you will learn, as you walk in Israel for the first time. I call on all of the State of Israel to remember these people and invite them to your homes for the Seder night - and tell them that you are with them, that you feel them, when you speak about freedom.

6. THINK-TANK OFFERS TRUMP POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS ON ISRAEL
by Mordechai Sones

Weeks after President Ronald Reagan's first election victory, the U.S. was engulfed in problems and the new President was confronting challenges unparalleled in nearly a half-century. At that time, the prominent conservative Heritage Foundation produced a detailed road map designed to help the fledgling administration steer the nation into a sound future, guided by conservative principles, called Mandate for Leadership. By the end of President Reagan's first year in office, nearly two-thirds of Mandate's more than 2,000 specific recommendations had been or were being transformed into policy.

Since then, Heritage has produced the Mandate series for incoming administrations, marshaling the talents of scores of experts.

Heritage recently released a report authored by James Phillips, Heritage's Senior Research Fellow for Middle Eastern Affairs, and a latest volume of Mandate, outlining specific policy recommendations for the Trump Administration. Four topics treated are Iran, the defeat of Islamist terrorist groups, the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, and President Trump’s promise to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.

Regarding Iran, the report finds Iran to be "the chief long-term regional threat to the U.S. and Israel. While the Obama Administration turned a blind eye to many of Iran’s malign activities to avoid jeopardizing its flawed nuclear agreement with Tehran, the Trump Administration is committed to confronting and pushing back against Iran."

Findings regarding Iran state that "Cooperation on missile defense should be an especially important agenda item. Iran’s medium-range missiles already can reach Israel with a 1,000-pound payload. On February 4, Mojtaba Zonour, a member of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, helpfully reminded the world that 'only seven minutes are needed for an Iranian missile to hit Tel Aviv' and that 36 U.S. military bases in the Middle East are within range of Iranian missiles. Israel is now deploying the Arrow-3 interceptor, developed jointly with the United States, and the two leaders should agree to support cooperation in further enhancing missile defenses."

Heritage recommends: "President Trump should discuss plans to hold Iran accountable for its hostile regional policies and roll back its influence, outlining the Administration’s strategy for ratcheting up sanctions on Iran and particularly on the IRGC, which controls Iran’s ballistic missile program and efforts to export terrorism. President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu should also coordinate on interdicting the flow of Iranian arms to Hezbollah, Hamas, and other terrorist groups."

On the Islamic State (ISIS) and the war in Syria, Heritage concludes, "Both the U.S. and Israel seek the rapid destruction of ISIS in Syria, but Israel is concerned that President Trump’s intention to cooperate with Russia in Syria could strengthen the influence of Iran and Hezbollah there." Explaining Israel's needs, Heritage councils the Trump Administration that "Netanyahu will want to gain an understanding of U.S. plans for Syria, efforts to split Russia from Iran, and the implications for Israeli security. At a minimum, Jerusalem wants to prevent Iran and Hezbollah from establishing a military presence near the Israeli–Syrian border."

Recommendations: "Israel has legitimate concerns about the increasing role that Iran and Hezbollah are playing in Syria. Trump needs to ensure that U.S. policies in regard to Syria will not inadvertently harm Israel’s security.

"Islamist terrorist groups pose a significant threat to the U.S. and Israel. Both countries can benefit from better coordination. Trump and Netanyahu should coordinate policies on fighting ISIS in Syria and explore ways to reduce the ISIS threat to Jordan and Egypt. Jordan needs intelligence and counterterrorism help in uncovering terrorist plots and economic support to lighten the burden of more than 600,000 Syrian refugees. Egypt has sustained heavy losses fighting ISIS in the Sinai Peninsula, and the group claimed responsibility on February 9 for a cross-border rocket attack on the Israeli city of Eilat. Cairo needs quiet help in defeating the ISIS insurgency, which has received extensive aid from Hamas and other Islamist extremist groups in Gaza."

The Israel-Palestinian conflict is summed up thus: "In contrast to the Obama Administration—which allowed the passage of U.N. Security Council Resolution 2234 condemning Israel and added insult to injury with a blistering anti-Israel speech from Secretary of State John Kerry—the Trump Administration will be much more supportive of Israel at the U.N. and elsewhere. Trump should publicly underscore that the U.S. will veto any one-sided U.N. Security Council resolutions and assert that only direct bilateral negotiations, not the U.N., can produce a peace agreement.

"President Trump should also stress that Palestinian terrorist attacks, not Israeli settlements, are the chief obstacles to peace. Although the Administration has not taken an official position on settlements, it did release a statement saying that new settlements "may not be helpful" in achieving a peace agreement. A senior Administration official later told The Jerusalem Post that new settlements could undermine Trump’s plans to engineer a final status agreement.

"Trump has described an Israeli–Palestinian peace agreement as 'the ultimate deal,' but the situation is not ripe for such a deal. The Palestinian Authority is unwilling to make the necessary concessions and too weak to enforce any agreement in the face of Hamas’s implacable opposition to Israel."

Recommendations include: "The Administration should focus on managing rather than resolving the conflict, which is impossible for the immediate future. Trump should consult with Netanyahu about how to restore calm, undermine Hamas and other Islamist extremist groups, and create a more stable environment for future step-by-step negotiations."  However, Phillips adds, "Refraining from establishing new settlements would be helpful in this context."

Regarding the embassy move, Heritage says, "President Trump’s commitment to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem would correct a historic anomaly: The United States has never recognized any part of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. However, moving the embassy could ignite protests, riots, and anti-American backlashes among Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims."

Therefore, Heritage recommends to "Ensure that certain standards are met before moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem. To mitigate the risks of the move, Trump should consult with Netanyahu on the timing; pick a site in West Jerusalem, which has been controlled by Israel since 1948; and explain that the move does not change other aspects of U.S. policy. The U.S. should make it clear that the borders and final status of Jerusalem should be determined through negotiations; that the embassy move would not preclude a Palestinian state; that the U.S. consulate-general in Jerusalem would continue to function as the U.S. representative to the Palestinian Authority; and that no changes would be made in the status of Muslim holy sites, which would continue to be administered by Jordan."

In conclusion, the Heritage report says that "Israel is America’s foremost ally in the Middle East. Both countries are democracies, value free-market economies, and uphold human rights at a time when many other countries in the Middle East reject those values." It says recent developments represent "a promising opportunity to reassert American leadership in the Middle East and strengthen U.S.–Israel strategic cooperation on foreign policy, defense, and counterterrorism issues."

7. SECRET WEAPONS FACTORIES UNCOVERED ACROSS JUDEA AND SAMARIA
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Security forces uncovered three secret weapons factories across Judea and Samaria overnight, as part of an ongoing effort to crack down on the production and distribution of weapons used in terror attacks against Israelis.

During raids on the illegal weapons factories early Wednesday morning, Israeli security forces seized equipment used in the production of makeshift firearms, including five lathes, as well as a number of guns and gun parts.

One building which housed an illegal weapons factory was sealed by the IDF following the raids.

The overnight operations were a joint effort of the IDF and Shin Bet internal security agency, who together have shut down 12 such gun factories since the beginning of 2017 and confiscated more than 110 illegal firearms. In 2016, Israeli security forces closed 43 illegal weapons factories and confiscated more than 450 firearms.

In a separate series of operations overnight, the IDF, Border Police, Judea and Samaria District Police, and Shin Bet internal security agency, nabbed six wanted terrorists in Judea and Samaria.

Five of the suspects are wanted for their alleged involvement in terror attacks on Israeli civilians and security forces.

8. RABBI STAV: PRIVATIZE 'KASHRUT MONOPOLY'
by Mordechai Sones

The chairman of the liberal Tzohar rabbis' organization, Rabbi David Stav, said Wednesday at a conference of the Israel Hotel Association that there is a need to change the "monopoly of the rabbinate," as he puts it.

"Monopoly is a bad thing, the franchisee can do whatever he wants. We are coming to the rabbinate and the legislator, and we want to change the arrangements by opening up kashrut in order to create competition between the rabbinates. In parallel, we are striving to open kashrut companies in order to produce other alternatives," explains Rabbi Stav.

He noted that "in the last few months we have been talking to the hotel association to grant kosher certification on behalf of Tzohar, and we are talking about kashrut, and only about kashrut and not other things.

"We believe that we will be able to lower the cost of kashrut while maintaining a level of kashrut even higher than what currently exists, with full transparency," adds Rabbi Stav.

"If you want the public to come to the hotel, 90 percent of the religious, traditional, and secular Jews trust Tzohar's kashrut, and those 10 percent who do not trust Tzohar do not use rabbanut kashrut," Stav claims, without providing a source for the statistic.

"Most of the country wants kashrut, but not the taking advantage of jobs," he said. "The kashrut we offer is good for the State of Israel and we believe it will lower the costs of kashrut to hotel," concluded Stav.

Rabbi Yaakov Ariel, one of the leading Religious Zionist rabbis, has called Tzohar's proposal a disaster for Israel and Judaism if it is implemented. Ariel and other opponents have argued that the lack of a universal minimum standard or oversight would lead to a deterioration of kashrut observance, the spread of fictitious certifiers, confusion amongst religious diners over which certifications adhere to traditional standards, and ultimately leave the country even more religiously polarized.

1. WILL SHAKED CHALLENGE BENNETT?
by David Rosenberg

A new poll commissioned by Jewish Home party activists is fueling speculation that Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked may be considering a primary challenge against her long-time political ally and incumbent party chief, Naftali Bennett.

Earlier this month, Shaked hinted she may be considering a bid for the premiership in the future, sparking rumors regarding more immediate aspirations, including leadership of the Jewish Home party or a possible departure from the party in favor of a senior position within the Likud.

On Monday Shaked again hinted she may pursue the premiership, telling participants of a conference organized by the Or Yarok traffic safety organization that she wasn’t ruling anything out.

"After the age of Netanyahu," said Shaked, "Naftali Bennett needs to be Prime Minister – but I wouldn’t rule out myself in the future [for Prime Minister]."

A poll published Tuesday morning only added more grist for the rumor mill. The poll, commissioned by Jewish Home activists, showed the party would perform better with Shaked at the helm, as opposed to Naftali Bennett. According to the survey, conducted by veteran pollster Rafi Smith, the Jewish Home would win three more seats under Shaked than it would under Bennett’s leadership.

"Shaked brings different voters to the party," said Rafi Smith. "While Bennett brings his base – traditional or religious voters – she brings a different base."

Agriculture Minister and leader of the National Union faction within the Jewish Home brushed off suggestions Shaked would challenge Bennett.

"There’s no way; Shaked won’t run. Let them convince her to run in the primaries, then we’ll see."

Nevertheless, some Jewish Home activists are hoping Shaked will run for leadership of the party.

One activist and former primary candidate, Yossi Fuchs, acknowledged to Army Radio that he is among those who ordered the poll and favors a leadership challenge against Bennett.

"Bennett is always saying that the only way to break the Jewish Home’s ‘glass ceiling’ is to get rid of the Uri Yogevim and the Smotrichim," said Fuchs, referring to criticism by Bennett of Minister Uri Ariel and MKs Motti Yogev and Bezalel Smotrich.

"We think that the public has no problem with them; we just need to change the [party] chairman."

"The religious public believes that it would be easier for Ayelet Shaked to unify the Religious Zionist community than it would be for Bennett."

2. GALANT TO HEZBOLLAH: 'WE WILL PUSH LEBANON BACK 100 YEARS'
by Ido Ben Porat

Housing and Construction Minister Yoav Galant (Kulanu), participating in the AIPAC conference in Washington, is convinced that elections in Israel are not imminent. He also sent an explicit threat to Hezbollah in Lebanon, and expects Israel and the Trump administration to cooperate in curbing the Iranian threat from reaching the Mediterranean.

In an Arutz Sheva interview, Galant was asked about the future of construction in Judea and Samaria and about the efforts to achieve an agreed-upon formula for construction. "I think that there are things which should be left for negotiations," he said. "Obviously things are different than with the previous administration. We also have other fronts, we need American support for what is happening on our northern border. The Iranians are gaining strength and trying to take control of Syria and this has its own repercussions."

Galant stressed that "there is no change in Israel's policies. We will defend ourselves and not allow Hezbollah to gain strength. We will not allow Syrian soil to become a fertile ground for smuggling game-changing weapons to be used against Israel."

"This must be done in a clear, careful and balanced way in order not to be dragged into a situation we do not want. If Nasrallah and the Hezbollah make a serious mistake and try to drag Israel into the war, we will push Lebanon backwards a hundred years."

Galant says that "nobody in our region wants Iranian involvement in Syria, neither the Sunni states nor Turkey and certainly not the Europeans who are concerned about the flood of refugees to Europe. I believe that after the battle in Syria is concluded the Russians will not want Iranian involvement. They are using them in the battle because there are no Russian soldiers."

"In this situation," he said, "a coordinated action by Israel and the US could push the Shiites back into their territories - Hezbollah to Lebanon and Iranians to Iran, and could also give de facto recognition to Israel's sovereignty on the Golan Heights."

Galant referred to the coalition crisis regarding the broadcasting corporation and expressed hope that there would not be elections.

"Whoever perceives the dangers facing Israel on its northern border, the possibilities of confrontation and terror from Gaza and the economic and housing requirements, anyone like this, whether it is the prime minister or the finance minister, realizes the burden of responsibility on them. I presume they will find a way to reach an agreement. The prime minister and finance minister are intelligent seasoned politicians, they will find a way to preserve the coalition in a way that can help the people of Israel," concluded Galant.

3. WATCH: PM NETANYAHU ADDRESSES AIPAC CONFERENCE
by Arutz Sheva Staff

[youtube:2026336]

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed the annual AIPAC Policy Conference via satellite Monday afternoon.

"Israel is fast becoming a global technological power and we're very proud of this. All of this is due to Israeli ingenuity and determination, the same ingenuity and determination which enabled us to build a a strong army, a robust economy and a resilient society. We did not accomplish this alone, we relied on the steadfast support of the US." Netanyahu said.

The Prime Minister praised the strong US-Israel relationship. "Israel has no greater friend than America, and America ha no greater friend than Israel."

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm confident our lives will grow even stronger in the years ahead. I had an exceptionally warm meeting with President Trump last month and I want to thank the president for his support for Israel. I want to thank Vice-President Pence for his warm words last night. The administration is turning its words into policies. You see this reflected in Ambassador Haley's standing up for Israel and the truth at the United Nations. You see it in the budgetary requests of President Trump which leave military aid to Israel untouched. We appreciate this and are deeply grateful for the support of the President and congress.

"Israel's hand is extended to all our neighbors in peace. We teach peace to our children and its time the Palestinian Authority did the same. It must stop teaching hatred to children, It must stop paying terrorists, it must stop denying our legitimacy and history."

4. 2 ISRAELIS KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT IN ROMANIA
by David Rosenberg

Two Israeli Arabs in their 20s were killed killed in a car accident in Romania Tuesday morning, the Israeli Foreign Ministry reported.

Among the dead were Muhammad Aljabrin, a 23-year old medical student from Lod, and Ahmed Dahamsha from Kfar Kana.

The 23-year old student was driving with four friends, also Israeli Arabs, when their car collided with a second vehicle near Bucharest. The car carrying the five Israelis then skidded off the road and into the Dambovita river.

Medical teams in Romania evacuated the injured to a Bucharest hospital.

The Ministry has contacted the families of those killed and injured in the accident. Several families of those involved in the accident have already scheduled flights to Romania to visit the injured students now being treated in Bucharest.

5. 'THE ATTITUDE TOWARDS ISRAEL IS STEADILY IMPROVING'
by Uzi Baruch

At the central Yesha (Judea and Samaria) event which took place in conjunction with the AIPAC conference in Washington, Arutz Sheva spoke with Israel's consul in New York, former Yesha Council head Danny Dayan, about the change in international approach to Judea and Samaria.

Dayan agrees that there hasn't been such a major and significant event in support of Judea and Samaria in the past. He maintains that this is a result of promotional activities in the international arena which he himself initiated a few years ago and which are being continued by "my students who have eclipsed their teacher and are doing wonderful work."

Dayan suggests caution regarding the new administration's goals. "We are in the midst of a process. I don't want to prophecy the end of the process before it has begun. However there is no doubt that the mood has markedly improved. The attitude towards Israel is far more positive than in the past and I hope that this will translate into tangible results."Dayan would not however commit to a time frame when this will happen and says that this depends on both sides.

Dayan says it is a "big merit to represent the most important city in the world, Jerusalem, in what is probably the second most important city, New York. For me this is a dream come true. All my life until now was a preparation for this role of representing the Jewish state in the greatest center of Western society. This is a great merit which every day I am grateful for," said Dayan.

Nevertheless, Dayan describes himself as a temporary resident in the US and says he is still a resident of the Samaria.

6. TRUMP CAMPAIGN ADVISOR: MODERATE ARABS WILL HELP US
by Arutz Sheva Staff

A terrorism expert and Fox News analyst who served as Donald Trump's Middle East adviser during the election campaign told the London-based Saudi daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat about the way in which President Donald Trump envisages a successful resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, according to a report by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

In an interview with the news outlet last week, Walid Phares, an American scholar born in Lebanon, said that Trump "told [him] personally, when [they] met in late 2015…, ‘I want the moderate Arabs to help us, meaning that they talk to the moderate Palestinians while I talk to Israel.’ That is why I believe it is his personal and strategic goal to solve this matter in a just way."

Phares also referred to America’s concern about Iran’s deployment of missile systems across the Middle East, saying, "This problem does not only concern Israel, but rather the entire region. Iran is trying to become the regional Soviet Union, and to spread its radical ideology under the pretext of fighting Israel. The Iranian regime is fighting the people in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, and is oppressing Lebanese, and all this under the banner of ‘liberating Jerusalem’…"

Phares maintained that if the Iranian people were to rebel against the ayatollahs who lead the country as they attempted to do in 2009, the Trump administration would back the effort.

Phares also alluded to threats issued by Iranian proxy group Hezbollah to attack Israeli facilities – including the ammonia plant in Haifa. Phares warned that "any terrorist actions by anyone anywhere in the world against any nuclear reactor, or any action that causes a radiation leak that damages the region and the world, will be considered international terrorist acts requiring an appropriate response.

"If Hezbollah wishes to anger the international community, including Arab and Muslim countries, and other countries, chiefly the US, this would be unprecedentedly reckless. Hezbollah knows this, and [nevertheless] threatens such attacks. The results [of these attacks] would be devastating, mostly for Hezbollah itself. I am not saying they would be devastating for Lebanon. Perhaps the Lebanese are worried and fear the response of Israel and the international community, or of [Arab] countries in the Middle East. No. There is a clear understanding, at least here in Washington, that if this happens, the response will specifically target Hezbollah and its institutions if it threatens international security."

7. BEDOUIN SOLDIER: YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ISRAEL
by David Rosenberg

As anti-Israel – and increasingly, anti-Semitic – elements on college campuses have become more vocal, more active, and more provocative on college campuses around the US, pro-Israel activists are working to combat the hatred and misinformation found at so many institutions across the country.

One recently demobilized IDF soldier decided to join the fight on behalf of Israel abroad after hearing how hostile many college campuses have become towards supporters of the Jewish state.

Muhammad Kabiya, an Israeli Bedouin who recently completed his service in the IDF on a search and rescue team in the Israeli Air Force, says critics of the Jewish state abroad display a remarkable ignorance of Israel – particularly the anti-Israel Jews he encountered on US college campuses.

Raised in the village of Kabiya, which was named after his family, Muhammad Kabiya comes from a long line of Bedouin who supported Israel and the Zionist enterprise. His village was one of Arab communities in Israel which backed the newly-formed Jewish state in 1948 and fought on its behalf.

Many villagers and relatives have served in the IDF, said Kabiya, who told United With Israel that his family fully supported his decision to enlist.

"My family sacrificed three soldiers in Israel’s battles," Kabiya said.

After finishing his service in the IDF, Kabiya continued his work on behalf of Israel, becoming an IDF consultant and pro-Israel activist.

Earlier this year, Kabiya had a speaking tour of college campuses in the US, defending Israel, in Arabic, from Arab detractors, and teaching anti-Israel Jews just how little they know about the Jewish state.

"People don’t know anything about what goes on here [in Israel]," Kabiya told Channel 10. "I’m defending the image of the state that they are trying to destroy."

"When I arrived for an address, ‘Israel Apartheid Week’ had just started. I confronted Jewish students who claimed that Zionism is racism. I told them that they should be embarrassed. I, Muhammad, an Israeli-Arab, was the one who needed to go out and confront anti-Israel Jews. It drove them nuts."

"On the first day [of the speaking tour] a Jewish student gave me a flyer for an address which claimed ‘Zionism is racism’," said Kabiya. "I told him ‘you should be ashamed of yourself’, you don’t need to be working with groups whose goal is to spread hatred and lies against the State of Israel, against your state, the state of the Jews – and I’m telling you that as an Israeli Arab."

Kabiya isn’t the only Arab working to combat anti-Israel bias in the US; earlier this week Sandra Solomon, joined other pro-Israel activists in a counter-demonstration outside of the AIPAC conference in Washington, challenging an anti-Israel protest organized by IfNotNow, an anti-Zionist Jewish group organized by former Sanders campaign staffer Simone Zimmerman.

A Canadian human rights activist born in Samaria and raised in Saudi Arabia, Solomon has received death threats for her work against the spread of radical Islam in Canada and her pro-Israel message.

"I am Palestinian, but I stand with Israel", Solomon said at the counter-demonstration. "We are the Arabs. We occupy the land of the Jews. This Jewish land. It’s going to be there for ever and ever. I used to be a Muslim. They taught me to hate Israel and the Jewish people. There is no Palestine. It’s a lie. They are using Palestine just to kill the Jewish people. Just to hate the Jews. They teach me to ‘purify al-Aqsa mosque from the filthy Jews’. Palestinians are liars."

8. 'THE US IS CLOSER THAN EVER TO MOVING EMBASSY TO JERUSALEM'
by Ido Ben Porat

The United States is closer than ever to moving its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, says Likud MK Amir Ohana, who travelled to Washington DC this week to take part in the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference.

Speaking with Arutz Sheva in Washington, Ohana said the Trump administration is genuinely interested in relocating the embassy to Israel’s capital, adding that if the move does take place, it will likely prompt other countries to move theirs as well.

"I can safely say this: we are closer than ever. I know that this matter [the embassy move] is being checked out very seriously. I’m telling the Americans as well as our viewers that after the US Embassy is moved to Jerusalem, others will move as well."

Ohana also discussed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s pledge to Amona evictees to build a replacement town in Samaria, saying the Prime Minister would stand by his promise.

"I heard the Prime Minister’s own words a week and a half ago at the well-publicized evening coalition event we had reaffirm his promise, saying ‘I promised and I will deliver’."

"He made a promise, and I recommend we don’t time him with a stopwatch," added Ohana, saying it would take time for the new town to be built. "No government would have done so much for the residents of Amona as this present one, or would have done so much to try to stop the evacuation itself."
