A teenage girl was killed Thursday morning in Kiryat Arba when a terrorist broke into her home and stabbed her dozens of times as she lay in bed. A second victim, who responded to the terror attack, has been seriously wounded.

The terrorist has been eliminated.

MDA emergency responders were called to the scene at around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday following reports of a terror attack. Two victims were transferred to Jerusalem hospitals.

A Kiryat Arba spokesperson said the terrorist penetrated the town's security perimeter and entered the Ramat Mamre (Givat Harsina) neighborhood.

Officials reported that the terrorist broke into a home and repeatedly stabbed a 13-year old girl in her bedroom. When the town's security team was called to respond to the attack, the terrorist assaulted a member of the local security squad. The terrorist was then shot and killed by the town security squad.

The female victim, Hallel-Yaffa Ariel, was unconscious and had no pulse when emergency responders arrived to provide first aid, and was evacuated to Shaarei Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem. Doctors attempted to resuscitate Ariel, but were ultimately forced to declare her death.

The second victim, a 31-year old male, has been transferred to Hadassah Ein Karem in Jerusalem, and is in serious condition.

The terrorist has been identified as Muhammad Tararia, a 17-year old resident of the village of Bani Naim.

Yael Kabiliv, the aunt of the young girl murdered in Thursday morning's vicious terror attack, spoke with journalists in the Shaarei Tzedek hospital, following news that Hallel-Yaffa Ariel had succumbed to her injuries.

"A truly wonderful girl was murdered today - Hallel-Yaffa bat Rina Devorah. Hallel, my niece, was most amazing girl in the world."

"She had slept in late after having danced in a performance the night before. [Then], a disgusting terrorist came in and killed her while she slept in her bed."

"We're all in mourning and in terrible pain. It's hard for us to grasp what happened."

"They have the courage to just go into our homes - we have to have the courage to go into the Temple Mount, without fear, and say 'this is our place'. Then no terrorist will dare set foot in our homes."

"She was an incredible girl. There are no others like her. Smart, well behaved, beautiful."

"It's a terrible loss for everyone here."

3. NETANYAHU: ATTACK SHOWS LACK OF HUMANITY
by Uzi Baruch

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman held a security briefing following today's terror attack in Kiryat Arba.

The two approved a series of security measures following the murderous attack, including a lock-down on the village of Bani Na'im, where the terrorist was from. All work permits from members of the murderer's clan have been revoked and security forces are preparing to demolish the terrorist's home.

"This horrific murder of an innocent girl sleeping in her bed illustrates the lust for murder and the inhumanity of terrorists seeped in incitement," said Netanyahu.

"We stand against them. The entire nation sympathizes deeply with the pain of the family and tells the murderers, 'You can not break us. We will continue to act strongly and resolutely against terrorism in every place and at every time'."

"The entire world must condemn this murder, just as it condemned the bombings in Orlando and Brussels. I expect the Palestinian leadership to unequivocally condemn this brutal murder, and to take immediate action to end incitement. It is the responsibility of enlightened nations to join us in this demand. They must exert pressure on the person who stands at the head of this system of incitement, which leads to the murder of children in their beds, and not against a country that works to protect her children and civilians."

5. 'RESPOND TO THE ATTACK – CONSTRUCT THOUSANDS OF APARTMENTS'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) is first cousins with the father of the 13-year-old terror victim, Hallel-Yaffa Ariel, of Kiryat Arba.

MK Ariel spoke with Arutz Sheva and said the response to the attack should be immediate. "Vengeance will be in the hands of God, but for us, revenge is the continuation of building and living," he said.

"Such is always the case, especially when an incident like this happens where they try so hard to uproot us from the land of Israel, that is when we need to connect to Israel. We hope that the government and the prime minister will wise-up and will agree to build what is necessary in Kiryat Arba and Hevron."

Minister Ariel rejects the idea of building more fences to protect the communities, claiming it to be nonsensical as it has no effect in reality: "To my knowledge there already is a fence, but it is so close to the homes because it is forbidden to build on the land might belong to the Arabs. The terrorist was seen but he still managed to reach the house before the security squad".

Ariel suggested aggressive deterrents, rather than fences, were necessary . "It means to expel the families of the terrorists, to destroy the terrorists' houses and build thousands of housing units in Judea and Samaria and to plant thousands of trees."

"Talk of fences, raising the fences, or electronic surveillance deals with the 'what if' and that will not solve the problem. We must drain the entire swamp instead of dealing with each individual mosquito," concluded Ariel.

6. 'MY DAUGHTER WAS JUST SLEEPING - AND HE CAME AND MURDERED HER'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

[youtube:2016683]

The bereaved mother of the 13-year old girl murdered in Thursday's terror attack in Kiryat Arba spoke to Arutz Sheva at the Shaarei Tzedek hospital, where her daughter was evacuated after being stabbed dozens of times by an Arab terrorist.

"My daughter was just sleeping - tranquil, relaxed, happy - when a terrorist came to her bed in Kiryat Arba and murdered her."

"I, the mother, am not saying anything, I just ask that everyone consider [our] pain, I ask everyone to come and console us, strengthen us, and tell us that our [home] Kiryat Arba is still a place to live in - and not die in; that we may continue to love our place and our land. May Hallel-Yaffa Ariel's memory be blessed."

7. BARUCH MARZEL: YOU DON'T NEUTRALIZE TERROR - YOU CRUSH IT
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Hevron activist Baruch Marzel responded Thursday morning to the terror attack in Kiryat Arba that left Hallel-Yaffa Ariel dead and one injured.

Blasting what he called the government's "passive" approach to terrorism, Marzel called for the army to "uproot" terrorism in order to prevent future attacks.

"The state's policies have failed. This is a classic example of [passive] defense: 'smart' fences, guards, security cameras - but in the moment of truth it doesn't stand up to the test. The only way [to prevent these attacks] is to attack, destroy, eliminate, and uproot the terror. Don't neutralize terrorism - crush it. We think the time has come to stop being defensive."

A former member of the Kach party, Marzel is a long-time resident of the Tel Rumeida neighborhood in Hevron.

Another Hevron resident, Bentzi Gopshtain, who heads the 'Lahava' anti-assimilation organization, called for the expulsion of terror supporters – including Arab MK Hanin Zoabi.

"Unfortunately we've gotten used to these terror attacks. I call upon all of those who were angry at [Joint List MK] Hanin Zoabi yesterday for calling IDF soldiers 'terrorists' - Hanin Zoabi isn't alone. I think that the time has come to throw out all those who think like her, who voted for her, and all those here who celebrate when Jews are murdered should be thrown out of the country. That's the only solution. You can't have a situation where a terrorist breaks into [a town], murders a little girl in her bed and is called a 'hero' [by his village]. We need to expel throw him out and all of his family and all of his village out."

8. MEDIC DISCOVERS STABBING VICTIM IS HER HUSBAND
by David Rosenberg

[youtube:2016688]

An MDA volunteer who received an emergency call this morning discovered that one of the two victims was husband, a member of the local security squad who was wounded while responding to the terror attack in the Ramat Mamre (Givat Harsina) neighborhood of Kiryat Arba on Thursday.

The attack, which took place in the Ariel family home, left Hallel-Yaffa Ariel, 13, dead, and a volunteer member of the town security team seriously wounded. Both suffered multiple stab wounds.

The second victim, 31-years old, was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Karem in Jerusalem.

On board the ambulance carrying the stabbing victim were a number of MDA first responders and paramedics – one of them the victim's wife, who calmed her husband and helped in his treatment.

"It is very difficult when you're treating people, and all of the sudden someone from your family is wounded. But she pulled herself together; it was very important for her to see him, to speak with him, and to call him. They spoke [during his treatment], it was very touching," Devorah Aviad, an MDA paramedic said.

1. CABINET APPROVES TURKEY RECONCILIATION AGREEMENT
by Ari Soffer

The Cabinet has voted to approve Israel's reconciliation agreement with Turkey, formalizing the controversial agreement in spite of some staunch opposition.

As expected, three Cabinet members voted against the deal, which has been hailed as a strategic victory by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu: Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked of the Jewish Home party, and Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman of Yisrael Beytenu.

Under the terms of the deal, Israel will pay $20 million in compensation to the families of Turkish jihadists killed during an attack on IDF soldiers who boarded the Mavi Marmara in 2010, having already acceded to Turkey's demand for a formal apology over the incident. In addition, Israel will facilitate the transfer of Turkish aid shipments into Gaza.

In return, Turkey will agree to normalize relations with the Jewish state, after Ankara's Islamist government broke all ties six years ago in the aftermath of the Marmara incident. Negotiations will then begin over a potentially lucrative deal to import Israeli natural gas to Turkey.

Jerusalem and Ankara are set to exchange ambassadors in the coming weeks, for the first time since relations between the two nations collapsed.

Opponents of the deal argue that in paying compensation over the Mavi Marmara incident, the government has dealt a blow to Israeli deterrence and a victory to terrorism. Moreover, many critics have slammed Netanyahu for not including the release of Israelis held by Hamas in Gaza as a condition, given the close ties between Ankara and Hamas. The families of soldiers Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin - whose bodies are being held by Hamas - and civilian Avera Mengistu, who is still believed to be alive in Hamas captivity, have accused the government of abandoning their children.

However, in defending the deal on Monday, Netanyahu said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had written a letter committing to work towards the release of all Israelis held by Hamas. He further claimed that, contrary to critics' assertions, Turkey cannot force Hamas to release them, but added that with Erdogan's support their release is more likely.

He further touted the natural gas deal with Turkey as a major strategic achievement, while saying that enabling Turkey to repair Gaza's crumbling infrastructure would be in Israel's interests as well.

Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) similarly defended the reconciliation deal after voting for it Wednesday.

Erdan repeated Netanyahu's assertion that Turkey cannot force Hamas to hand over Shaul and Goldin's bodies, or to free Mengistu and another, unnamed Israeli Bedouin held by the terrorist group.

However, he acknowledged critics' assertion that Erdogan's letter did not constitute "significant progress", adding that therefore "in light of my request, the Cabinet will (meet to) consider the subject of the conditions of Hamas prisoners" in the coming weeks, and decide what pressure, if any, Israel can enact to secure their release.

According to Erdan, the reconciliation deal provides a number of security and economic benefits to the State of Israel.

In particular, Turkey's decision to drop its demand that Israel end its blockade of Gaza - aimed at preventing the transfer of sophisticated weapons to terrorists there - and Ankara's agreement to only transfer aid via the permitted routes in Israel, constituted a major strategic victory.

If terrorists in Gaza resumed their attacks, he added, the aid would cease.

2. DEATH TOLL IN TURKEY'S ATATURK AIRPORT RISES TO 41
by Ari Soffer and Ben Ariel

[youtube:2016617]

Turkey's Prime Minister, Binali Yildirim, said Tuesday night that 41 people and three suicide bombers died in the attack at Istanbul's Ataturk airport.

140 people were wounded in the attack at the airport, which is located just outside of Istanbul.

Yildirm said that so far all indications point to the Islamic State (ISIS) group being behind the attack, adding the attackers arrived at the airport in a taxi and blew themselves up after opening fire.

He added the victims include some foreigners and that many of the dozens wounded have minor injuries but others are more badly hurt.

The Foreign Ministry in Israel said there is no indication that any Israelis were injured. Israeli passengers who were stranded at the airport following the attack were taken to nearby hotels until flights are renewed on Wednesday.

The Foreign Ministry has opened an emergency hotline at +972-2-5303155.

Turkish officials have confirmed that two suicide bombers detonated their explosives in the attack.

The attack took place in the international departures area, according to CNN.

Gunfire also heard at the site was from Turkish security forces attempting to stop the bombers, officials added.

In the confusion, some witnesses had told Reuters they saw gunmen open fire from an airport car park.

As with previous attacks, the Turkish government has placed a media blackout on Turkish outlets reporting the attack.

Footage has emerged apparently showing terrified commuters taking cover at the airport in the aftermath of the bombings.
Turkey has in recent months been targeted with deadly attacks by terrorists from the Islamic State (ISIS) jihadist group - including suicide bombings - as well as smaller-scale attacks by left-wing extremists.

On Wednesday morning, Turkish officials said they believe ISIS was behind the attack.

3. TERROR VICTIM FAMILIES TURN TO COURT TO BLOCK TURKEY DEAL
by Ido Ben Porat

Shurat Hadin, an organization that represents terror victims in court in Israel and around the world, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court today (Wednesday) in the name of bereaved families against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Cabinet ministers following the agreement with Turkey that enables Hamas to continue operations from within that country.

According to the petition, the agreement provides for Hamas to continue to maintain an official base of operations in Turkish territory, and prevents expulsion and/or prosecution of Hamas officials.

"The agreement fails to address the matter of the close cooperation between Turkey and the Hamas terror organization, which has made it its business to murder Israeli civilians for decades, and Turkey's support of the organization."

The petition also contains the claim that "the agreement completely squanders the opportunity to limit the murderous terror activities perpetrated and directed from Turkish soil, and to achieve justice for victims of terror.

"The agreement completely ignores the consequences of these matters in the security, deterrence, and human spheres, in a manner that is entirely untenable and unreasonable."

"In order to quiet the uproar from this capitulation to terror, the government points out that Turkey has committed to preventing the Hamas military wing from operating in its territory, while the base that remains in Turkey will be part of the Hamas military leadership only. However, the separation between the activities of the military wing--which will not be permitted to operate on Turkish soil, and the political wing--which will continue its relations with the Turks as usual, is entirely without basis in fact or law, goes against previous conventions, and is entirely unreasonable," the petition states.

The agreement does stipulate that Turkey will not allow Hamas to plan terror attacks against Israel from its territory. However Hamas will be allowed to continue its operation in Istanbul and the Turkish government will continue its diplomatic relationship with the terror group.

What's more, on the same day that Turkey committed to preventing Hamas from planning attacks from its territory, it was reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting with Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal in Istanbul, in which he made clear that the agreement with Israel will have no effect on Turkey's relationship with Hamas, which will continue as before.

The petition continues, "before long we won't be able to turn back; seeing as these are matters that go to the very heart of Israel's security, the subject of this petition is very urgent."

The petition is signed by terror victims and their family members.

Among those who signed is Devorah Gonen, mother of Danny Gonen (25) of Lod, who was murdered a year ago by a terrorist who shot nearly ten bullets at him. The terrorist held out his hand toward the car in which Danny and his friends were sitting, looking as if he needed help. The friends stopped the car in order to help the man who moments later became Danny's murderer.

Another signee is Ruthi Hasno, widow of Avraham Asher Hasno (54) of the town of Kiryat Arbah (near Hevron) who was murdered on the 20th of October, 2015. Avraham Hasno left his car on the side of the road after stones were thrown at it by Arab rioters, and was subsequently run over by a Palestinian truck driver.

Hasno was survived by his wife Ruthi, seven children and seven grandchildren. He had worked as the kitchen manager in the Otniel yeshiva high school.

Attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, head of the 'Shurat Hadin' organization, said that the agreement signed with Turkey is an unacceptable compromise. "The cabinet ministers and the Prime Minister must oppose any rapprochement with Turkey that doesn't include a total termination of Hamas operations on Turkish soil and the expulsion of Hamas leaders from the country

"They must oppose any deal that doesn't include an end to Turkish support--whether monetary of political--of Hamas. Any agreement that doesn't fulfill these conditions will institutionalize the activities of the terror organizations and give them more legitimacy."

According to Darshan-Leitner, without insisting on these conditions Israel will be sending a message to all the nations of the world saying that it is willing to have a full diplomatic relationship with countries that host, support, and fund murderous terror groups within their borders.

"The ratification of this kind of deal damages Israel's security, hurts the terror victims who have paid a heavy price, and walks back the principles of combating terror that have been developed over many bloody years, dictating that there is no distinction to be made between the the political and military wings of any terror organization."

4. ESTI WEINSTEIN SAGA: HAREDI COMMUNITY UNFAIRLY MALIGNED?
by Shai Landesman

Channel 10 news reporter Avishai Ben-Haim, who works very closely with the haredi community (but is not haredi himself), thinks the press has committed a grave injustice in its coverage of the suicide of Esti Weinstein, saying that "basically everything you've heard about haredi wickedness in this matter is untrue."

Weinstein was found dead in her car on Sunday after years of estrangement from her Gerrer hassidic family, and her story continues to make waves in Israeli public discourse. The circumstances surrounding the tragic event have sparked debate about the Gerrer hassidic community, its social norms and practices (especially as pertains to the treatment of women), and attitudes within religious circles to those who leave religious observance.

Weinstein left a will explaining her reasons for taking her own life and a tell-all book about her life story. She accuses the Gerrer community of forbidding her children from having any contact with her once she left religious observance, and cites the disconnect from her family as the main cause of her emotional suffering, leading to her suicide. Many in the press have put the blame for the tragedy squarely on Weinstein's family and the Gerrer hassidic and wider haredi community in general. The veteran channel 10 reporter thinks this is grossly unfair.

In a Facebook post, Ben-Haim spells out the results of his investigations into specific allegations made about the circumstances of Weinstein's estrangement from her family and their conduct surrounding the funeral.

Ben-Haim opens with his impressions from the funeral itself:

"This is what injustice looks like. We came to Esti Weinstein's funeral today expecting to meet her evil and cold-hearted family and instead met a noble and sensitive family, we heard a eulogy from a loving haredi father and an explanation and request for forgiveness from a hurting haredi daughter.

"All of this means that we need to rewrite the entire story of the past 48 hours and tell the truth: everything you heard about the wickedness of the haredi side was a lie."

The Channel 10 reporter then goes into detail, discussing individual claims made in the press, going point by point through the events, in chronological order:

"Something about this seemed fishy to me from the beginning. First it was claimed that the haredi family members were going to snatch the body to bury it on their own terms. I called and spoke with the family. They were shocked by the idea, 'Of course not! Heaven forbid!'. I don't need to tell you that no one actually tried to snatch the body.

"Next they said that Weinstein's daughters broke off contact from their mother because of a cruel order from the Admor [leader of a hassidic community]. I called again, I spoke with the family, and they swore that there was no directive from the Admor and explained that this was not a religious issue at all, merely a human one. The girls were angry at their beloved mother who simply up and left them one day 7 years ago. Hence the estrangement.

"Afterwards they said that the haredim are demanding she be buried outside of the cemetery walls. I called, spoke with the family, and they were shocked by the idea, 'she was a good mother, we love her. We never had any such plans.'

"Then they said that they don't intend to sit Shiva [week-long mourning period in Jewish law] for Esti. I called, spoke with the family, they were shocked by that idea too. No such thing had ever crossed their minds.

"Next, they said that the family is demanding a small and quick haredi funeral that will demean Esti's memory. I called. Spoke with the family. They said this was untrue and that they had every intention of honoring their late mother's wishes, having already made clear that they have no problem with there being flowers and songs at the funeral [as per Weinstein's instructions in her will].

"Then the courts were petitioned to make sure that the funeral will be held with a secular atmosphere (not that songs and flowers really make a funeral 'secular'), and it was reported that the secular side won as the court ruled against the haredi family. But the haredi family never sent anyone to the hearing to contest any of this and wasn't even part of any fight. They didn't want to fight about this and there was no need to 'beat them' in court, for as I've already written, the family wanted to honor Esti's non-haredi wishes.

"After that, it was claimed that the family was boycotting the funeral, which would indeed be the height of cruelty. But then... well, then we saw a large group of haredi Gerrer hassidic women arriving at the funeral, sobbing, and sad Gerrer hassidic men, all standing to the side, quietly and politely, and waiting for the time when they will be able to take part in the proceedings. We heard the father eulogizing his daughter, and the eldest daughter Raheli eulogizing her mother. No haredi told Raheli that she wasn't allowed to speak in this kind of forum because she's a girl.

"It was then that I understood that this week, a grave injustice was committed among the Jewish people."

Some in the haredi blogosphere and beyond have reacted with skepticism to these revelations, claiming that the family was coached for their press exposure by Gerrer leadership desperate to counter all the bad PR they've been getting. However, Ben-Haim has certainly shown that at least some of the allegations made were simply inaccurate.

Ben-Haim's post ends with a quote of the full text of Weinstein's eldest daughter's eulogy, excerpts from which were available before the funeral and were published by Arutz Sheva.

5. AL QAEDA TELLS TERRORISTS TO TARGET WHITES, 'AVOID MINORITIES'
by Shai Landesman

In the most recent issue of a magazine published by Al Qaeda, the worldwide terror group called for terrorists perpetrating 'lone wolf' attacks to "avoid targeting places where minorities are found".

Recent events have shown that terrorists do not need to be in contact with, or commanded by, organized and established terror groups to do a lot of damage.

'Lone wolf' attacks, as they're often termed, are carried out by people inspired by the ideas espoused by terrorist groups, while not being operationally associated with them.

In this magazine issue, instructions, suggestions and criticisms are offered to the potential lone wolf terrorist. There is a special focus on the US, where Omar Mateen carried out his lone wolf shooting attack. Among the instructions is a directive about precisely which segment of the US population to attack.

The terrorist writer appropriates some left-wing ideas about minority groups being especially oppressed in America.

"We call upon all those oppressed by America, be it a Muslim or not, to retaliate and take back their rights by any possible means from this oppressive state," the magazine trumpets.

The writer then offers some criticism of Mateen's choice of venue. While nauseatingly lauding the attack for its success in murdering a high number of people, he nevertheless criticizes the fact that "most of the individuals present at pulse nightclub were Latino."

"We recommend that it is better to avoid targeting places and crowds where minorities are generally found in America," the writer asserts. "Therefore we advise targeting areas where the Anglo-Saxon community is generally concentrated. This class of the American community is the majority and it is the one that is in the American leadership."

Part of the reason given for this is to avoid the situation created by the Orlando attack, where there was a debate over whether it was motivated by primarily by Islam or by hatred of gays. Al Qaeda would like to make it clear to all that these attacks are motivated by global Jihadist ideas.

One only wonders how long it will take.

6. BENGHAZI REPORT REVEALED: SURPRISE ALLIES, SECURITY SNAFUS
by Rachel Kaplan

The Select Committee on Benghazi released a shocking report yesterday, detailing the bumbled efforts to save the American diplomatic team while politicians worked to protect their own backyards. The report, whose full contents can be found here, was written to be "worthy of the American people's respect, and worthy of the memory of those who died," according to Beghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy (SC).

"Nobody has ever reported that nothing was headed to Benghazi. Nobody has ever reported that not a single wheel was turning to Libya. God knows no one ever reported who actually evacuated our folks," he mused, adding, "I'm proud of what we've found and I think it's new."

Although it may be worthy, the politicians named in the epic report seem decidedly not.

"We expect our government to make every effort to save the lives of Americans who serve in harm's way. That did not happen in Benghazi." Rep. Mike Pompeo scathed, "Politics were put ahead of the lives of Americans, and while the administration had made excuses and blamed the challenges posed by time and distance, the truth is that they did not try."

Indeed they did not. When the news first broke, the White House convened an emergency meeting at 7:30 PM, that lasted a laconic 2 hours. The Vice President and Chiefs of Staff normally would have been there, but they went home to host a dinner party for foreign dignitaries. At the meeting itself, the main focus was on how Libya would react if they sent in uniformed military personnel to rescue the trapped diplomatic team. Many of the action items listed involve a Youtube video that was supposed to have sparked the tensions, and many statements include the phrases "[i]f any deployment is made," and "Libya must agree to any deployment," and "[w]ill not deploy until order comes to go to either Tripoli or Benghazi." The tragic scene ended with not a single military team sent in time to rescue the Benghazi diplomats.

In fact, there had been sub-standard security in Benghazi long before the attacks. Ambassador Stevens had planned to travel to Benghazi in August, but cancelled his trip "primarily for Ramadan/security reasons." The State Department, in a misplaced effort to not offend the Libyans, had enacted policies that included reduced security staff, and plainclothes dress.

Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (GA) issued a fuming statement: "One of the most concerning parts of the State Department's policy in Libya was its reliance upon the militias of an unstable nation to protect our men and women in Benghazi. These were by no means forces that could adequately protect Americans on the ground, and the State Department knew it. But the appearance of no boots on the ground was more important to the administration."

By the time a Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST,) stationed in Rota, Spain, was sent in to Tripoli, a full twenty four hours had elapsed since the beginning of the Benghazi attack. The commander of the team found out about the situation via the news. "I was actually talking to my dad on Skype, watching the Armed Forces Network new channel...and all of a sudden we see a consulate building on fire." he recalls. "I got on the phone with my commanding officer, and we had a short talk .… And he said something more or less in the lines of, 'Make sure you do your laundry and you got enough soap.'...Around midnight is when my platoon sergeant and I initiated the recall [to assemble the Marines]." Even assembled, the team waited for three hours, changing in and out of their uniforms four times, for orders to move.

Similarly, the deployment of the Commander's In-extremis Force (CIF), a top-secret team used in crisis situations, was horribly bungled. Sent to a intermediate staging base in Sigonella, Italy, twenty two hours after the Benghazi attacks began, they had to wait there for a forklift to be brought from Zadar, Croatia before they could load themselves and their gear onto a plane to Zagreb International Airport, there to await further transportation. While waiting, the CIF Commander was not updated on what was happening on the ground until Ambassador Stevens was killed, nor was he told that the remaining personnel had been evacuated to the Annex, and that two more Americans died when the Annex was mortared.

Tied up in orders and failed paperwork, the American rescue teams failed to arrive in Benghazi in time to save U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, nor CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty. In the end, the real heroes of the day were supporters of Omar Qhaddafi, who had been ousted by American forces not long before. Known as the Libyan Military Intelligence, they were not part of the Libyan government, nor any of the militias with whom the CIA or State Department had been cultivating a relationship. The organization was "comprised of former military officers under the Qadhafi regime who had gone into hiding in fear of being assassinated, and wanted to keep their presence in Benghazi as quiet as possible so as to not attract attention from the militias in control of Benghazi," stated the report. They broke their silence to rescue the terrified American mission, sending 50 heavily armed security vehicles to extract the personnel there, and to transport them to the airport in Tripoli, where they set up a barricade and waited for American backup. Until that evening, the CIA had not even known that Libyan Military Intelligence existed. Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta bluntly told the committee that "an intelligence failure" occurred with respect to Benghazi.

In the aftermath of the 800-page Benghazi report, the politicians involved rushed to defend themselves. Although Hillary Clinton has been cleared of any wrong-doing, her campaign published a sour response: "The Republicans on the House Benghazi Committee are finishing their work in the same, partisan way that we've seen from them since the beginning. In refusing to issue its report on a bipartisan basis, the Committee is breaking from the precedent set by other Congressional inquiries into the Benghazi attacks." Committee members deny any political agenda.

Rep. Martha Roby (AL), regrets: "Our committee's insistence on additional information about the military's response to the Benghazi attacks was met with strong opposition from the Defense Department, and now we know why. Instead of attempting to hide deficiencies in our posture and performance, it's my hope our report will help ensure we fix what went wrong so that a tragedy like this never happens again."

7. X-RAY TECHNOLOGY DISCOVERS HOLOCAUST ESCAPE TUNNEL
by Ido Ben-Porat

In the Ponary woods, near Vilna, scientists have made an emotional and exciting discovery. Using x-ray technology a team of researchers has found a tunnel dug by concentration camp prisoners to escape the Nazis. For decades this tunnel remained hidden, but advances in technology have revealed its exact location.

During the holocaust, over 100,000 residents of Vilna, including 70,000 Jews were murdered at Ponar (officially known today as Paneriai) by the Nazis and their corpses thrown into pits.

In 1943, as the German forces withdrew from the eastern front, a special unit was established tasked with hiding any traces of this massacre. 80 inmates from the nearby Stutthof concentration camp were formed into Leichenkommando ("corpse units"). During the day, while chained to one another, they were forced to dig up the corpses and burn them. At night they were kept in a giant pit.

These inmates realized that as soon as their awful task was completed they would also be murdered. To escape from the Nazis they dug a 35-meter tunnel leading from their pit to the other side of the fence.

The tunnel was painstakingly dug by hand over the course of 3 months. On the last night of Passover, April 15, 1944, they made their escape. Using a file they removed the chains from their legs and 40 of them escaped through the tunnel.

However, their escape was soon discovered by the guards. Only 15 prisoners managed to escape and only 11 of them managed to reach the partisans and survive the war. The remainder were caught and shot.

The Ponary massacre and the escape of the prisoners are ingrained in the collective Israeli psyche through the song with lyrics by the Warsaw Ghetto composer Szmerke Kaczerginski, sung by Chava Alberstein.

Despite many attempts to discover it, the location of this escape tunnel has been hidden since the end of World War II. Now, a team led by Dr. Jon Seligman of the Israel Antiquities Authority and Prof. Richard Freund a Judaic studies professor at the University of Hartford with support from the Vilna Gaon Jewish State Museum, EDVision Corporation and the PBS science series NOVA has discovered the tunnel. Using ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) they have found the tunnel leading from the pit where the prisoners were held.

According to Dr. Seligman, "As an Israel whose parents came from Lithuania, the moment when we discovered the tunnel was so emotional it brought me to tears. This touching evidence shows the triumph of hope over despair. Discovering the tunnel makes it possible for us to show not only the horrors of the holocaust but also the hope for life."

Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev said, "I bless the Antiquities Authority for this unique international partnership, which allows us to turn rumor into fact. The exciting discovery of the prisoners' tunnel is another proof against the holocaust deniers. The technological advances which make it possible for the Jewish people to uncover more and more stories of heroism that the Nazis tried to cover up are a great achievement and of benefit to all humanity."

The partnership intends to return to the site in the future to unearth the tunnel so that it can be presented to the public as part of the Paneriai Memorial Museum commemorating the murder of the Jews of Vilna.

A NOVA documentary on the discovery will air in 2017 on PBS.

1. STONE-THROWERS ON TEMPLE MOUNT WOUND WORSHIPPER AT KOTEL
by Uzi Baruch

A 73-year old Jewish woman who came to pray at the Western Wall was wounded Tuesday morning by Arab stone-throwers on the Temple Mount above the Western Wall Plaza.

The woman, who was lightly wounded, was treated on the scene before being evacuated to the Hadassah Ein Karem hospital.

Police are still searching for the attackers.

On Tuesday, Israeli authorities closed the Temple Mount to Jews and other non-Muslim visitors, noting that Arab rioters had clashed with police the past two days.

MK Yehuda Glick (Likud) criticized the decision to shut down the holy site to Jews and tourists.

"We cannot allow a situation where dozens of tourists and Jews wanting to visit the Temple Mount, from which the call of 'Nation shall not lift up sword against nation' is supposed to emanate, are repeatedly held hostage by a violent rabble roused by radical Islamic clerics."

Glick called on the police to "fight unflinchingly" against Muslim rioters on the Temple Mount.

2. JEWS BARRED FROM TEMPLE MOUNT
by David Rosenberg

The Temple Mount will be closed to Jewish visitors and tourists for the next three days, Jerusalem police said Tuesday morning.

The closure, which takes place during the Islamic month of Ramadan, comes following rioting by Arabs on the Mount Sunday and Monday in protest of visits by non-Muslims.

No restrictions on Muslims ascending the holy site have been announced.

Following the initial wave of rioting on Sunday, police barred Jews from the Mount in an effort to restore calm. When non-Muslims were again allowed onto the site on Monday, Arab rioters again clashed with police, hurling stones and barricading themselves in the Al Aqsa Mosque.

On Tuesday Arab youths again congregated in and around the mosque, preparing for a third round of violence with stones and firecrackers.

Jerusalem police said in light of ongoing tensions on the Mount, non-Muslim visitors would be barred in the coming days from ascending the holy site, adding that additional security forces would be placed on the Temple Mount to help keep the peace.

3. JEWISH HOME MINISTERS SLAM TURKEY RECONCILIATION DEAL
by Ido Ben Porat

Senior ministers from the Jewish Home party have indicated that they will vote against ratification of a deal to normalize relations with Turkey following six years of diplomatic tensions.

Jewish Home chief Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked raised objections to the deal on Tuesday, citing the agreement's provision for a compensation package to Turkey and the lack of any binding requirement for Turkey to pressure the Hamas terror organization to return two Israeli captives and two fallen IDF soldiers killed in 2014.

The pair signaled their opposition to the deal after details of the agreement were disclosed to the cabinet.

The ministers decried the planned $20 million compensation fund Israel would be required to establish for Turkish citizens killed in 2010, after they attacked Israeli soldiers boarding a Turkish vessel attempting to break the Gaza blockade.

"Reconciliation with Turkey is important now, and an interest of the State of Israel," said Education Minister Bennett. "But at the same time," continued Bennett, "paying compensation to the perpetrators of a terrorist act sets a dangerous precedent that the State of Israel will regret in the future. Israel must not pay [the families] of terrorists who tried to harm the IDF."

"So long as Turkey holds influence over Hamas, they should do their utmost to ensure that [the fallen IDF soldiers] Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin are returned to Israel."

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman (Yisrael Beytenu), who has in the past slammed attempts to win Turkish support for normalized relations with a compensation fund, emphasized on Monday that his position had not changed.

"I don't see any reason to go back on my opposition to the agreement," Liberman told Yisrael Beytenu members during a faction meeting. "The compensation [package] has serious implications."

Despite the opposition of the Defense Minister and both ranking Jewish Home Ministers, observers predict the agreement will pass ratification in the cabinet on Wednesday.

4. CONTROVERSIAL 'HANNIBAL DIRECTIVE' MAY BE ABOLISHED
by Arutz Sheva Staff

State Comptroller Yosef Shapira has expressed opposition to the 'Hannibal Directive', a policy dictating IDF soldiers should take all necessary measures to stop a kidnapping of a soldier in progress or immediately afterwards, even if it means endangering the lives of the kidnapped soldiers themselves. This according to a report in Haaretz Tuesday.

According to Haaretz, the first draft of the Comptroller's report dealing with lessons to be learned from operation Protective Edge contains a recommendation to abolish the directive, which, in the Comptroller's view, is not clear to or understood by the IDF chain of command.

In this draft, distributed over the past few days to the relevant levels of the IDF command hierarchy, the directive is interpreted by many as a green light to kill kidnapped soldiers during pursuit, while the directive only really permits the use of force to rescue kidnapped soldiers even if this endangers their lives.

The Comptroller writes in the draft that this directive is more suited to kidnappings in circumstances of regular security operations, and not to states of war where there is more room to take into account International Law considerations, such as the principle of differentiation between combatants and civilians, and the principle of proportionality which dictates that the scope of a military operation needs to be kept in proportion to its objectives. These principles militate against the use of excessive force during a state of war.

Also recommended in the drafted report is raising the clearance requirement for authorizing broad use of force in an attempt to stop a kidnapping. The authority to order this is currently held at the level of Brigade Commander. The Comptroller recommends that deliberations regarding such an order take into account the severity of the event, the environment in which it occurs, and the potential for subsequent escalation. The decisions should be made at the highest level, by the Chief of Staff with the help of the Military Advocate General. He would also need to make sure that the ethical issues inherent in the operation are clear to all participating units.

'Haaretz' quotes the response of the IDF spokesperson, who said that "the draft of the report was received by the IDF yesterday, and will be studied in the coming days. The IDF will deal with the draft directly, and not through the press.

The paper adds that a senior military official has recently said that Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot had already decided to abolish the Hannibal Directive several weeks ago and a new standing order is currently being drafted in the Operations Directorate.

5. 'IF I SEE AN ISRAELI I'LL SLIT HIS THROAT'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

A senior Palestinian Authority official said yesterday (Monday), that if he saw an Israeli he'd 'slit his throat'.

The official is Fatah Central Committee member and adviser to PA President Mahmoud Abbas, Sultan Abu al-Einein.

In an interview with the Donia Al Watan site discussing the matter of normalization of relations with Israel and the talks currently ongoing between Israeli and Palestinian Authority representatives, the Fatah member said: "I am against discussions, talks, meetings, and any kind of normalization with the Israeli occupiers."

He also commented on meetings with Israelis being attended by other members of Fatah, such as Ahmad al-Majdalani, another Fatah Central committee member, and Muhammad al-Madani, head of the committee for interaction with the Israelis.

"If Abu Mazen [Abbas], tries to make me participate in meetings that include Jews I will forcefully refuse. I will not have any interaction with Israeli society unless I get kidnapped by extremist settlers," said Abu al-Einein. He added that he doesn't have anything against his colleagues who do attend such meeting, and commented on the requirement for Palestinian officials to obtain special transit visas. "The fact that we are in need of special documentation to allow us to pass through the checkpoints shows that we live in dark times."

Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Major-General Poli Mordechai, commented on al-Einiein's words on his Facebook page, writing: "How short is the distance between wild incitement and acts of terror, and how is it that the lives of Judea and Samaria residents hang in the balance of one irresponsible tongue."

Mordechai reached out to Palestinian Authority hrresidents, saying that "in the Middle East of the summer of 2016, this kind of talk doesn't stay in the realm of the symbolic or rhetorical. In our area there is a short distance between these kind of irresponsible remark and terrorist in the field who understand that there is legitimization from the leadership for an act of terror they're about to carry out. The distance between that and a deep destabilization of your way of life is shorter still."

The Major-General called upon Palestinian society, and especially its leadership, to denounce such remarks that" bring Ramallah closer to Raqqa and Mosul", referring to cities controlled by ISIS, and instead to call for dialogue and tolerance.

These comments from a senior Palestinian Authority official come on the heels of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' wild accusation that Israeli Rabbis had demanded that the Israeli government poison wells to kill Palestinians. This accusation has been dubbed "a blood-libel" by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

6. STEINITZ IN AMONA: 'I'LL WORK TO AVERT TRAGEDY'
by Eliran Aharon

Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources Yuval Steinitz expressed staunch opposition to the evacuation of the Samarian community of Amona in a visit there today (Tuesday). Steinitz spoke to local leaders about the fight against the planned evacuation and possible legal solutions.

Accompanying the Minister on the visit were Likud National Camp co-Chair Shevach Stern and Natan Englesman, Yesha Council Chairman Avi Roeh, Amona leaders, and Infrastructure Ministry representatives.

"It's unthinkable to evacuate whole towns because of judicial considerations which would never, under any circumstance, apply to Tel Aviv or Haifa," said Steinitz, "You can't evacuate or destroy and area just because someone says it belongs to him. Only in a case where ownership is proven conclusively should anything be done, and even then it should only be in the form of monetary compensation"

Steinitz promised, "I will act in every legal and logical way to prevent the unnecessary tragedy of the evacuation of Amona in the coming months or years."

Shevach Stern, Chairman of the Likud National Camp said that Minister Steinitz's visit in the area accomplishes two goals. "The first goal is to promote the saving of Amona in the government. As the man who chaired the Knesset's committee investigating the [previous] Amona incidents [referring to the 2006 evacuation] and knows the subject well, Minister Steinitz has exactly the right talents and capabilities to bring about a good solution."

"The second goal is returning the water infrastructure in Judea and Samaria to a fully operational state long-term. As Infrastructure Minister, Steinitz must use all of his abilities and influence to bring this about."

Amona, which is slated for evacuation by year's end, was the site of a violent confrontation between security forces and demonstrators in February 2006, after a Supreme Court order for the demolition of nine homes. Over 300 people were wounded in the evacuation, most of them peaceful protestors.

7. FALLEN SOLDIER'S COMRADE: 'DON'T ABANDON HIM'
by Benny Toker

Tzlil Turgeman, a reservist medic from the Givati reconnaissance battalion which fought back Hamas terrorists who killed Hadar Goldin and took his body into captivity, blasted Israel's reconciliation deal with Turkey, saying that the agreement abandoned those being held by Hamas and wasted a "golden opportunity" for their return.

"About two year ago we took part in a difficult war, [as part of] Operation Protective Edge. All of us left behind families to go out and defend our people and our country, and all of us went in there with the understanding that we might not come back alive," Turgeman told Arutz Sheva.

"We went out [to fight] based on a faith in the system, and if called upon we would do it again."

Israel, which has concluded months of negotiations to restore relations with Turkey after six years of diplomatic tensions, has agreed to provide $20 million in compensation for the families of Turkish terrorists killed after they attacked IDF soldiers in 2010.

Yet the reconciliation deal includes no binding requirement for Turkey to pressure the Hamas terror group to free two Israeli captives held in the Gaza Strip, or return the bodies of IDF soldiers Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, killed in 2014. Turkey, which has formal ties with the Hamas terror organization, is estimated to exert strong influence over the group.

Turgeman criticized the decision, calling on the Israeli government to insist Turkey force Hamas to return all Israelis held in captivity, including the two fallen soldiers.

"We understand that there is a golden opportunity here to make Hamas pay a price and demand the return of the bodies."

"They fought hard, because [they knew] that if God forbid something happened to them, they would be brought back and buried in Israel. All this time they [the government] assured the families that any negotiations on the Gaza blockade would include a provision requiring the return of their sons."

"But suddenly last Thursday this provision disappeared from the agreement. We need to demand this condition from Hamas: if you want humanitarian aid, give back the bodies of Hadar and Oron. There is a golden opportunity here to put a price on Turkey's assistance, which helps Hamas – and they need to take steps to bring back the two soldiers. This is a one-time opportunity for the State of Israel."

8. 'AN ANGEL COMMANDED ME TO KILL'
by Ido Ben Porat

The Supreme Court rejected on Tuesday an appeal filed by Jack Teitel, who was convicted in 2013 for the murder of two Palestinian Arabs, dismissing claims the killer suffered from temporary insanity and was thus not responsible for his actions.

Teitel, a 43-year old American-born immigrant, confessed to murdering an Arab taxi driver and a shepherd, along with a host of other attacks, though police determined that Teitel was not responsible for all of the acts to which he confessed, including the 2009 shooting of a Tel Aviv LGBT center.

While Teitel's lawyers had claimed that he was mentally unfit to stand trial, the court found him sane and therefore fully responsible for his actions. His attorneys later agreed to a plea bargain. A 2010 report by a district psychiatrist found him unfit for trial, though the court later rejected this opinion.

Teitel appealed the decision ruling him responsible for his actions, requesting the Supreme Court consider his claim of temporary insanity.

According to the claim, Teitel was under the influence of delusional thoughts during the killings. Teitel has claimed that prior to the murders an angel "revealed itself to me", commanding him to carry out the killings.

The court responded to Teitel's appeal, saying that the claims of delusional visions of angels this late in the process raised doubts about the credulity of his appeal.

1. NETANYAHU: DEAL WITH TURKEY 'A STRATEGIC INTEREST FOR ISRAEL'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu officially announced Israel's reconciliation deal with Turkey, at a press conference in Rome on Monday afternoon.

The deal has faced fierce opposition within Israel, where many critics have blasted it as a reward to terrorism.

Under the deal, Israel will provide $20 million in compensation to the families of jihadists killed aboard the Mavi Marmara ship, which in 2010 attempted to violently break Israel's blockade on Hamas-ruled Gaza. That is in addition to an official Israeli apology - which has already been issued - and a deal to allow Turkish humanitarian aid into Gaza via Israel.

In exchange, relations between the two one-time allies will return to normal, and talks will commence on a potentially lucrative natural gas deal.

Speaking in Hebrew from Rome, Netanyahu repeatedly emphasized that - while he did not view the situation through "rose-tinted glasses" - such a deal was of critical "strategic importance to the State of Israel."

In particular, Netanyahu noted, paving the way to exporting natural gas to Turkey would provide an enormous boon to the Israeli economy - to an extent which shouldn't be understated, he insisted.

But he also highlighted several other concessions which Israel had garnered from Turkey.

Under the agreement, Ankara had pledged to "prevent any terrorist or military activity from Turkey soil against Israel" - including fundraising for anti-Israel terrorism. Such a pledge is particularly significant given the use of Turkey by Hamas's leadership as a hub for planning and coordinating terrorist attacks.

Netanyahu also addressed the parents of missing Israelis, both dead and alive, who are still held by Hamas.

Israel had received a letter from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which the Turkish leader pledged to work for the release of the Israeli captives and bodies as a humanitarian service.

Turning to the families, Netanyahu assured them that Israel hadn't abandoned their loved ones. "We won't stop until we return them home."

On the contrary, he insisted, while the agreement hadn't secured their release - something he told reporters was impossible given that Turkey held only "influence" over Hamas, not "control" over its decisions - "without this letter there's no chance. With this letter there is a chance."

In addition, he said, Turkey has committed to supporting Israel's admission into international agencies which it is a member of - including, crucially, by supporting the opening of an Israeli mission in NATO's Brussels headquarters. Israel had long worked to open a mission at NATO, but Turkish opposition had blocked it from doing so. Jerusalem's recent breakthrough in Brussels was long speculated to have been the result of talks with Turkey.

The Israeli PM brushed aside charges by the deal's opponents that it was essentially a surrender to terror. In particular, he mocked left-wing politicians from the opposition, who he noted had for years loudly called on Israel to make even greater concession's with "the most powerful Muslim country," only to suddenly change their minds to score political points against him.

"I work in accordance with the interests of the State of Israel," Netanyahu continued.

He also referred to the fact that Turkey had in fact dropped its major demand: that Israel end the blockade of Gaza, telling reporters that the reason the deal took so long to strike was due to the fact that Turkey had initially refused to "drop certain demands we weren't prepared to meet."

"The second thing the agreement gives is continuation of the maritime security blockade off the Gaza Strip coast," he said.

Instead, Israel will facilitate the transfer of humanitarian aid via Ashdod - a purely symbolic concession given that huge volumes of such aid already pass via Israel into Gaza.

2. MUSLIM VIOLENCE ERUPTS AGAIN ON TEMPLE MOUNT
by Ari Soffer

[youtube:2016539]

Clashes erupted on the Temple Mount Monday morning, after Islamists attempted to violently prevent Jews from visiting.

Dozens of Muslim extremists - many of them masked - had barricaded themselves in the Al Aqsa Mosque since last night, and had actively stockpiled rocks and other projectiles for use against security forces and Jewish visitors. They also set up numerous obstacles to prevent police from closing the mosque's doors - a tactic often used by Israeli police to kettle in Muslim rioters.

As Jewish visiting hours to the holy site began, the Islamists began hurling rocks and other objects at security forces stationed on the Mount.

Police, Border Police and Yasam riot police forces succeeded in driving the rioters into the mosque, enabling both Jewish and other non-Muslim visitors to continue at the site for a short period.

With the end of visiting time for non-Muslims - which had been considerably shortened due to Ramadan - security forces reopened the mosque's doors, and were immediately attacked once again by the rioters. Officers responded using non-lethal riot control methods, and eventually succeeded in quelling the violence.

It marks the second day of Muslim violence on the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism.

On Sunday as well, Muslim rioters attempted to prevent Jews - who are already massively restricted on the site due to Muslim pressure - from visiting. Several Muslim rioters were arrested.

In response, the Israel Police force released a statement saying it would not tolerate any attempts to foment violence at the site.

"Any attempt to disturb the peace in Jerusalem - including the Old City and Temple Mount - will be dealt with resolutely and firmly in order to maintain the status-quo on the Temple Mount and freedom of worship for all religions."

Despite the statement, only Muslims are actually permitted to worship on the Temple Mount, for fear of "provoking" Muslim violence.

3. 'IT'S TOO EARLY TO PREDICT THE IMPLICATIONS OF BREXIT'
by Eliran Aharon

[youtube:2016531]

Professor Dror Wahrman, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in an interview with Arutz Sheva on Sunday, discussed the vote by British citizens to leave the European Union (EU) and what implications, if any, it would have on Israel.

"I think a lot of the voters who voted in favor of Brexit voted from the gut. They were not clear on what they expected to get out of this, and now that they're there, they're suddenly uneasy," he said.

"I think it's very significant that Boris Johnson, who led the 'leave' campaign, was the first to say, 'Let's not hurry, let's not be hasty here.' In other words, 'We wanted the symbolic victory. We don't want implementation, we don't know what it would lead to,'" added Wahrman.

"What will happen next? It's very hard to say at this point. The EU is worried that someone will follow Britain. If someone else exits – that will be the end of the European Union. They can contain the damage of one major player leaving. Two major players – that would make it look like the rats are abandoning the ship."

The EU, added Wahrman, is pressuring Britain to start the process of leaving right away so that it doesn't appear as though Britain came out on top with the move.

"That's why it's hard to know what this two-year process will look like. It's probably going to take longer than two years," he predicted.

It's premature to predict what the global economic implications of the move will be, said Wahrman, "because much depends on how these negotiations will go."

"What we see now in the world markets I think is just hysteria. It will stabilize in the next few weeks. Anybody who's trying to predict now what will happen in six months or a year is trying to sell you something. I don't think there's enough information on the ground to be able to say."

4. TURKISH PM: ISRAEL, TURKEY TO EXCHANGE AMBASSADORS WITHIN WEEKS
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim hailed his country's reconciliation deal with the State of Israel, framing it as a victory for Turkey.

Speaking at a conference in Turkey's capital Ankara shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's own announcement, Yildirim also claimed the agreement had granted Turkey all of its demands.

Israel and Turkey would be exchanging ambassadors "as soon as possible," he said, as part of a re-normalization of ties between the two states. Ankara would appoint it ambassador within weeks, he added.

Under the deal, Israeli would be paying $20 million to the families of 10 Turkish jihadists killed aboard the Mavi Marmara ship, which in 2010 attempted to violently break Israel's blockade of Gaza.

The agreement also agrees to allow Turkey to deliver aid to Gaza, though crucially Turkey dropped its long-held demand for Israel to end its blockade of the Hamas-ruled enclave entirely. Humanitarian channels have always been open, but the Turkish PM cast that particular concession by Israel in particularly glowing terms, and said aid shipments would begin immediately.

"To this end, our first ship loaded with over 10,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid will leave for Israel's Ashdod port on Friday," he said.

Yildirim declared Turkey's intention to build a new 200-bed hospital in Gaza, among other construction projects.

Asked about a reported Turkish commitment to help prevent Hamas attacks against Israel, Yildirim said: "This is not a ceasefire deal. We reached an agreement with Israel to normalize relations."

AFP contributed to this report.

5. 'WHY DIDN'T ISRAEL DEMAND COMPENSATION FROM TURKEY?'
by Shimon Cohen

A former senior member of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's Likud party has blasted Israel's upcoming reconciliation deal with Turkey, and questioned why the Israeli government didn't attempt to extract concessions of its own.

Former Education Minister Gideon Saar said Israel should have demanded compensation for the Mavi Marmara incident, in which a Turkish Islamist flotilla attempted to violently break Israel's blockade of Gaza.

In an interview with Israel's Channel 2, Saar expressed his shock at the $20 million compensation package Israel will be granting to the families of the Al Qaeda-linked IHH terrorists killed aboard the ship - without demanding any compensation in return either for the injuries inflicted on IDF soldiers or the harm to Israel's security.

According to Saar, Netanyahu had in the past vowed not to offer compensation to the Turks over the incident - yet now the generous compensation package comprises a central aspect of the reconciliation deal.

"This is a bad deal," Saar stated, while noting that the conflicting national interests of Turkey - a key Hamas supporter - and Israel would continue regardless of the agreement.

The rapprochement deal will be formally announced today (Monday) at two separate press conferences.

In Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to declare a diplomatic victory, while at around the same time Netanyahu is scheduled to announce the deal at a separate event in Rome.

Apart from $21 million in compensation to the families of the slain jihadists from the Mavi Marmara incident - along with an official apology which Israel has already offered - the deal also calls for arrangements for extra humanitarian and other aid into Gaza, and the start of talks over a potentially lucrative deal for Turkey to purchase Israeli natural gas.

Despite Turkey's close ties to Hamas, however, the deal does not include the return by Hamas of either captive Israel civilian Avera Mengistu, or the bodies of Israeli soldiers Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, which have been held by the Islamist terror group in Gaza since 2014's Operation Protective Edge.

6. UK UNIVERSITY COMPENSATES STUDENT FOR ANTI-SEMITIC ABUSE
by Rachel Kaplan

In a startling form of recompense, University of York presented Zachary Confino with £1000, and an apology note from the student union, after turning a deaf ear to his complaints of anti-Semitic abuse for two years. Confino, 21, a law student and former treasurer of the student union, suffered bullying for being Jewish.

Confino reports that the anti-Semitic incidents spiked from 0 to 20 in his second and third years. "The far-left say racism is a black/white issue. They seem to think Jews are fair game," he added bitterly.

The university finally responded to Confino's repeated complaints, claiming "The University is committed to preserving the right to freedom of expression while also combating anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and any other form of race hate."

"We welcome students from all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities in our diverse community."

It confirmed that Confino accepted the apology from the student union, as well as the four-figure "token payment." Although he is still suffering from the trauma of his experience, Confino is willing to put it in the past.

But Jonathan Sacerdoti, Director of Communications at the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism, criticized the school's response.

"There must also be a commitment to fighting anti-Semitism properly, something they failed to do in Zachary's case," he insists.

"It should not be necessary for individual Jewish students to fight lengthy battles with their university unions over the course of many months or years in order to have Jew-hatred dealt with properly."

A spokesman for the chief rabbi, Ephraim Mirvis, agreed. In a formal statement, he said he hoped the apology would send a strong message to other universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, that "there must be absolutely no place for antisemitism [sic] on our campuses."

7. MORNING JOGGER DISCOVERS 900 YEAR-OLD LAMP
by Rachel Kaplan

Tuesday morning started normally for Meir Amshik, a ranger (rescue personnel) for the Nature and Parks Authority.

As he jogged along the coast, however, "I saw a few pottery shards had been washed up by the waves, and I stopped to pick them up. To my surprise, I saw that a new part of the cliff had crumbled. I went to check it out, and I saw a strange lamp resting there, whole."

Guy Pitosi, inspector for the Israel Antiquities Authority, rushed to the scene. "NPA rangers, and rangers in general, are our eyes on the coast. They don't just save people, they save artifacts...Finds like this can be incredibly important for research, and for our understanding of history. Happily, more and more people are reporting ancient finds."

According to Saar Ganor, archeologist for the Ashkelon Center for the Israel Antiquities Authority, "This ancient oil lamp, which was used a light source, dates back to the 12th century. The signs of wear, and soot on its mouth, are well worth studying...The lamp demonstrates a part of the cultural wealth of the ancient city Ashkelon, which once was a merchant city. Ashkelon was a center of import from overseas, and from there products from the whole southern Israel were exported."

Meir Amshik relates: "To find an artifact like this, it's really exciting. You just feel a part of history. You can touch what was here long ago. I feel like I'm a part of the chain."

8. WATCH: ISLAMISTS HURL ROCKS AT POLICE ON TEMPLE MOUNT
by Arutz Sheva Staff

The Israel Police force has published footage from clashes on the Temple Mount Monday morning, after Muslim youths barricaded themselves in the Al Aqsa Mosque and hurled rocks at police and visitors.

In the footage, the Islamist rioters can also be seen erecting makeshift barricades to block the path of approaching Israeli riot police, who eventually succeeded in first kettling the rioters inside the mosque, and eventually ending the violence altogether.

1. DENTIST ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH HIZMA BOMBING
by Uzi Baruch

The Shabak internal security agency arrested a man suspected in a May 10th bombing attack north of Jerusalem that left one IDF officer badly injured.

The attack, which took place on the eve of Israel's Memorial Day (Yom HaZikaron), targeted Israeli soldiers near the village of Hizma, just north of the Pisgat Ze'ev neighborhood in Jerusalem.

During interrogation, the man admitted that he had prepared additional explosive devices and was planning to strike Israeli targets in the Maaleh Adumim area.

The terrorist has been identified as Dr. Samer Mahmoud Daoud Halabiyeh, a 35-year old dentist from the town of Abu Dis, just east of Jerusalem.

Halabiyeh reportedly placed the explosive device, then activated it with his cell phone when he say Israeli soldiers approaching it.

A number of other medical practitioners with ties to the terrorist were also taken into custody by security forces.

2. NEW DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM PUSHES 'PALESTINIAN RIGHTS'
by Ron Kampeas

JTA – Following efforts by representatives of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, the Democratic National Committee has altered the party's platform to reflect "Palestinian aspirations", but rejected language demanding Israel end its "occupation" of Judea and Samaria and halt construction in Jewish communities over the Green Line.

According to an Associated Press report emailed to reporters late Saturday by the Sanders campaign, the platform calls for a two-state solution, but does not frame it purely as an outcome that benefits Israel, as previous platforms have.

It declares that achieving Palestinian statehood would provide "the Palestinians with independence, sovereignty, and dignity."

The platform drafting committee of the Democratic National Committee met in cities across the country. The meeting this weekend, which wrapped up the draft and where the Israel-related language was approved, was held in St. Louis. The full platform committee will vote on the draft on July 8-9 in Orlando.

The committee rejected language proposed by James Zogby – a Sanders appointee to the committee and the president of the Arab American Institute – that called for "an end to occupation and illegal settlements".

Zogby said Sanders, the first Jewish candidate to win major nominating contests, helped draft the rejected language.

According to tweets by Josh Ruebner, the policy director of the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, who was monitoring in real time the St. Louis meeting of the platform drafting committee, Zogby's language was defeated around midnight Friday 8-5.

Speaking against Zogby's language were Wendy Sherman, a former deputy secretary of state and an appointee named by Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, and Howard Berman, a former California congressman who was named to the committee by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., the DNC chairwoman. Advocating for the language was Cornel West, a Sanders appointee and a philosopher who backs the boycott Israel movement.

Keeping out language that could potentially alienate the pro-Israel community was a priority to the Clinton campaign. Earlier this week, Jake Sullivan, her senior foreign policy advisor emailed JTA to say that "Hillary Clinton's steadfast support for Israel, and the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship, are well known. As we have said previously, she remains confident that the party platform will reflect her views."

Clinton has secured enough delegates to win the first round of voting at the convention in Philadelphia next week. Sanders, unusually for a candidate who is set to lose, was given five spots on the platform drafting committee, a reflection of the strength of his campaign. Clinton named six and Wasserman Schultz the remaining four.

Zogby and another Sanders appointee to the committee who advocates for Palestinian statehood, Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., seemed happy with the overall platform, saying Sanders scored wins on his proposal to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, break up big banks, and expand social security.

"We got some great stuff in the platform that has never been in there before," Zogby told AP.

J Street, a left-wing NGO, praised the Israel-related language.

"The new language breaks with the party's practice of framing its aim of establishing a Palestinian state solely in terms of Israel's interests," it said in a statement. "By including parallel acknowledgement of Israeli and Palestinian rights, the party underscores its belief that the only viable resolution to the conflict–a two-state solution–requires recognizing the fates of the two-peoples are intertwined."

3. CABINET RESOLVES TO GET TO BOTTOM OF YEMENITE CHILDREN AFFAIR
by Shai Landesman

The long saga of the Yemenite children may be coming to a close.

At the cabinet meeting today (Sunday), the government adopted a resolution to appoint Minister without portfolio Tzachi Hanegbi to act in the name of the government in resolving the Yemenite children affair.

Allegations have been circling for many decades that in the early stage of the State of Israel many children of Yemenite families were taken from them and given to be raised by Ashkenazi families, with the parent then being told that their child had died. It is further alleged that this was done either for racist reasons--a belief that Yemenite parents are not fit to raise children--or anti-religious reasons--a desire by the state to make the children secular.

In 1995 a commission was appointed to investigate the matter, headed by then Supreme Court Justice Yehuda Cohen. After 7 years of work, it was concluded that there was not enough evidence to support the conclusion that these kidnappings did indeed occur. However, many documents were then classified and hidden from the public.

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked led a push to bring these documents to light, so that the matter can finally be put to rest, and today the matter was brought up for discussion at the Cabinet meeting, where action was finally resolved upon.

Prime Minister Netanyahu called the matter "historic", further saying that "I am committed to finding the truth about this, and Minister Hanegbi will present his findings to the government."

The Prime Minister further noted during the deliberations that there were other children from non-Yemenite backgrounds whose fate remained mysterious, and would be investigated.

Minister Shaked was pleased with the result. "I'm happy my proposal bore fruit. I will give Minister Hanegbi all the help he needs. The truth must come to light."

4. LIFE SENTENCE PLUS 31 YEARS FOR PRIDE PARADE MURDERER
by Shai Landesman

Yishai Schlissel, the man recently convicted of the murder of 16-year-old Shira Banki and six more counts of attempted murder, all perpetrated at the Pride Parade in Jerusalem on August 2015, has been sentenced to life in prison and 31 more years.

In addition to the prison sentence, he has been ordered to pay monetary compensation to the tune of NIS 258,000, the maximum amount, to the Banki family and each of the other victims, for a total of NIS 2,064,000.

In the sentence, the judges wrote the following: "We have before us, then, a man who does not see those around him as people. A cruel man. A dangerous and heartless man. A man for whom the Judaism of pleasant ways, the Judaism of peace, the Judaism that teaches that people--all people--are created in the image of God, is completely foreign. A man who sees himself as giver and taker of life according to principles he has appointed himself to enforce. This dangerous man can no longer be allowed to roam the streets of Jerusalem or anywhere else."

It should be noted that the prosecution had requested a sentence of life in prison plus 60 years for the Schlissel's crimes.

Schlissel will almost certainly not appeal his sentence as he has made very clear throughout the process that he doesn't recognize the court's right to judge him, and even refused to cooperate with his attorneys.

5. RABBI MAZUZ AND ELI YISHAI VISIT BEREAVED RABBI COHEN
by Arutz Sheva Staff

The Shiva house Rabbi Shalom Cohen, head of Shas' Council of Torah Sages, received a visit from former Shas head Eli Yishai, and his supporter Rabbi Meir Mazuz.

Despite the tension between the two sides, due to last year's contentious election, Rabbis Cohen and Mazuz discussed only Torah matters, the memory of R' Cohen's late wife, and her family's roots.

Following the death of the Rabbanit Cohen Yishai published some words of eulogy and comfort. "We are shocked and broken at the news of the passing away of the great woman Rabbanit Cohen, who shared Rabbi Cohen's life for many decades and accepted great suffering upon herself at the end of her life with love.

"I merited seeing some of the Rabbanit's great deeds, her dedication to Torah study, and her pleasant ways, all quietly and modestly, without any pretensions. She merited raising a generation of children, all of whom are busy with Torah and Mitzvot."

On Friday the Prime Minister paid a visit to Rabbi Cohen's house and offered his condolences. This morning (Sunday), Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and former Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon visited.

6. WILL US GOVERNMENT HELP DETAINED TEENAGER?
by Yedidya Ben-Or

The family of a 15-year-old boy from the town of Yitzhar who was barred from staying in his parents house by police and subsequently arrested because he was found there, has contacted the United States embassy and requested their help in protecting the teenager's rights.

The boy's mother is a US citizen, and emphasized in her request that she isn't asking for any political meddling, only the protection of her child's rights.

"Our son is young and he has nowhere to stay but his parents' house," the mother wrote to the embassy, "he is in administrative detention so we can't fight it through any of the regular legal channels.

"As the body responsible for protecting the rights of your citizens, even if they live in Israel, we request that you inquire and find out how the basic rights of a minor can be so easily violated, and help us secure his basic right to live in his home".

A hearing is scheduled today (Sunday) in the Petah Tikva Magistrates Court, in the matter of the ongoing investigation against the boy for suspected anti-Arab activity, and the issue of the maintenance of his rights and due process. He will be represented by Attorney Hai Haber of the 'Honenu' organization. This organization is dedicated to ensuring that due process is respected in investigations such as these. All details of the allegations against the teen are classified, and held by the Shin-Bet security agency.

The boy spent the past Shabbat in custody following Lod District Court judge Varda Maroz's decision to accept the police's appeal to keep him under house arrest outside of Judea and Samaria. Judge Maroz thus essentially overturned the previous decision by Petah Tikva Magistrates Court judge Yael Belcher, which had stipulated the boy could remain under house arrest in his parents' home. Belcher had also strongly criticized the police's conduct in relation to this matter.

In the course of deliberations it became clear that the police's plan to have the boy stay on a farm in the south isn't viable as the farm owner has refused to consent to the arrangement under these conditions. An additional farm owner contacted by the police likewise refused to host the teen without his parents' consent.

The organization dealing with the case has commented in response to events: "This is a of human rights violation scandal. We've already seen several times what kind of "secret information" is used to justify holding citizens in administrative detention. People have been released because it turned out that the information was mistaken. We hope this situation will be resolved with the returning of the boy to his parents' home."

7. BRAVERY & PERSEVERANCE: WOMAN WOUNDED BY TERRORIST GIVES BIRTH
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Five months ago, a knife-wielding terrorist entered a clothing store in the town of Tekoa in Gush Etzion, and stabbed the pregnant Michal Froman in her upper body. She was evacuated to Jerusalem's Sha'arei Tzedek hospital in moderate condition. Yesterday (Saturday), she gave birth to a healthy baby daughter.

Froman is the daughter-in-law of the late R' Menachem Froman, the Rabbi of Tekoa, who was famous for the unique combination of being both a settler and a champion of negotiations and interfaith dialogue with the Palestinians.

In an interview with 'Galei Tzahal' Froman said that every crisis brings with it the opportunity to find the positive and embark on a new journey. "I often think about what God was trying to tell me with this attack", she said.

Froman's husband wrote a facebook post detailing his thoughts and feelings about the birth of his daughter. "For 4 months already since the stabbing I've been wondering if we'll have a 'hilltop youth' girl or an extreme Leftist. Turns out she's just a bundle of sweetness. Of sweetness and serenity.

"It seems it'll take us a while to convince her that there are conflicts in the world. In the meantime she and I are both filled with admiration for her mother, who once again surprised us with a show of strength from suffering, and finding the good in a crisis. I thank God for everything."

8. CAR RAMMING ATTACK NEAR KIRYAT ARBA
by Arutz Sheva Staff

A Jewish Israeli couple in their 50s were lightly injured in a car ramming attack at the entrance to the town of Kiryat Arba, next to Hevron.

The victims were treated at the scene by paramedics before being transferred to hospital for further treatment.

The terrorist - a Palestinian woman - was shot dead at the scene by alert soldiers.

Her attack was recorded by nearby CCTV cameras:

The Hevron/Kiryat Arba region in Judea south of Jerusalem had been a hotbed of stabbing and car ramming attacks over the past several months, but terrorist incidents had significantly decreased in the past few weeks.

The recent "wave of terror" has calmed down considerably overall throughout Israel, but Arab terrorists have still conducted periodic attacks, including the recent murder of four people at Tel Aviv's Sarona Market.

More recently, three people were injured last week in a rock-throwing attack which targeted a bus traveling through Jerusalem.

1. UK PRIME MINISTER TO STEP DOWN FOLLOWING BREXIT
by Arutz Sheva Staff

[youtube:2016496]

Prime Minister David Cameron announced his plan to resign following yesterday's "Brexit" referendum, in which the UK public declared its desire to leave the European Union.

"The will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered. It is not a decision that was taken lightly," he said. "There can be no doubt about the result."

He then assured markets and investors around the world that Great Britain's economy will remain strong, and promised UK citizens abroad, as well as EU nationals in Britain, that they will not face any immediate change.

Cameron continued by speaking about his accomplishments and plans for the future.

"I was absolutely clear about my belief that Britain is stronger, safer and better off inside the European Union. And I made clear the referendum was about this and this alone, not the future of any single politician, including myself.

"But the British people have made a very clear decision to take a different path and as such I think the country requires fresh leadership to take it in this direction.

"I will do everything I can as prime minister to steady the ship over the coming weeks and months. But I do not think it would be right for me to try to be the captain that steers our country to its next destination.

"This is not a decision I have taken lightly. But I do believe it's in the national interest to have a period of stability and then the new leadership required.

"There is no need for a precise timetable today. But in my view we should aim to have a new prime minister in place by the start of the Conservative party conference in October."

2. BRITAIN VOTES IN FAVOR OF 'BREXIT'
by Ben Ariel

[youtube:2016493]

Results continue to pour in in the referendum on whether Britain will leave the EU or remain in it, and the 'Leave' camp continues to gain on the 'Remain' camp.

As of 6:30 a.m. Israel time, with 200 of 382 results declared, the 'Leave' camp had a lead of 51.7% over 'Remain'.

At 3:45 a.m. BST Leave were ahead by over 500,000 votes, with the English shires and Wales voting strongly for Leave.

Scotland and Northern Ireland appear to have opted for Remain and London has voted emphatically to stay in the EU, noted the BBC.

'Leave' actually looked like it was headed for a loss, when shortly after polls closed, Nigel Farage, head of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), said it "looks like Remain will edge it".

But as his own side gained more and more votes, Farage tweeted, "I now dare to dream that the dawn is coming up on an independent United Kingdom."
Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted a note of thanks to British residents who voted.

"Thank you everyone who voted to keep Britain stronger, safer & better off in Europe - and thousands of @StrongerIn campaigners around the UK," he wrote.
The question of the exit from the EU has divided Britain's two largest parties, with Cameron (Conservative) staunchly opposing exiting the EU, dubbed the "Brexit", while, a number of high-profile members, including former London Mayor Boris Johnson, have campaigned in favor of "Leave".

Labour Party chairman Jeremy Corbyn recently astonished long-time allies, abandoning four decades of opposition to the UK's membership in the EU and coming out in favor of 'remain'. Many trade unionists oppose Britain's membership in the union, arguing that open-border policy within the EU and lack of trade restrictions harm British workers.

3. JOURNALIST DENOUNCES JEWS WANTING TO LIVE IN HISTORIC JERUSALEM
by Ido Ben-Porat

Yediyot Aharonot journalist Ben-Dror Yemini has criticized the decision to allow a home for Jews to be built in Kfar Shiloah, on land that was purchased by Ateret Cohanim in 2005.

In his weekly column, Yemini wrote: "We are shocked by the regular attacks. And rightly so. Let me cry out over the crawling attack. Only two days ago, almost in secret, the Jerusalem local council approved a Jewish building in the Silwan neighborhood, in accordance with Ateret Cohanim's request."

He described the ruling as a new milestone in the State of Israel's march of folly. "Why do you need to live in the middle of a populated Arab neighborhood? What's the rationale? It costs the country a fortune. They'll need millions of shekels each month in order to protect them. It's a proven formula for friction, humiliation and violence.

"No Jew wants devout Muslims with political motivations to settle down in the middle of a Jewish neighborhood just because the law allows them to. So why? What more do they need to happen in order to understand that mixing hostile populations is a certain recipe for spilling blood?"

4. SAMARIA: FATHER DEFIES 'UNDEMOCRATIC' ORDER TO SEND SON AWAY
by Hillel Fendel

A 15-year-old boy from the Jewish town of Yitzhar in Shomron (Samaria) has been ordered to leave his parents' home and live in an isolated farm in southern Israel. His family says he's not going anywhere.

The saga began early this month when the minor received two administrative orders: one banning him from entering anywhere in Judea and Samaria for six months, and one ordering him to remain under overnight house arrest at his grandparents' home in central Israel for three months. The orders originated in the IDF Central Command, as Yesha (Judea and Samaria) is under IDF military rule.

No explanation was provided for the orders, other than a general "suspicion of violence against" local Arabs.

Following an appeal by the Honenu legal defense organization and a letter to Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, the minor was allowed to remain at home pending a court hearing. Last week, however, the order was reissued and the boy was ordered to leave his home. He did not do so, for his father explained that the grandparents' home was not a relevant option and that he simply had no place to go.

On Thursday, the Central Command informed the minor that he must relocate to the south, where he will receive a "bed, food, and sanitary conditions as required." Again, the father responded by saying that his son is going nowhere.

The family says it does not know the people in the farm, and that no one has contacted them about the farm or the conditions there. It is not even clear whether the people at the farm have agreed to take him in, or whether they may do so against the wishes of his parents.

"The nerve and patronizing arrogance of the Jewish Section of the Shabak has broken new records," the father said. "To take a 15-year-old boy who has done nothing, and to throw him to an unknown address without coordination with the family – this is what is done in a democratic country? In the 50's they kidnapped Yemenite children in secret, and now they try to take children from their parents for re-education in broad daylight. The natural place for my son is at home, and it is unacceptable that because of some secret material that we have no idea what it contains, the boy is forced to leave his home."

Attorney Chai Haber of Honenu, who is representing the minor, has already informed the Central Command that the order is unacceptable.

Earlier this week, the Council for Children's Welfare directed a request to the head of the Central Command to reassess the situation In light of the "possible ramifications on the minor's long-term and short-term welfare."

5. REGAVIM PRAISES UK FOR CHOOSING BREXIT
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Regavim has offered its congratulations to the UK for voting in favor of leaving the European Union.

Regavim is an NGO focused on "ensuring responsible, legal, accountable and environmentally friendly use of Israel's national lands and the return of the rule of law to all areas and aspects of the land and its preservation." It has strongly criticized the EU for funding illegal Palestinian construction.

An official statement reads: "Regavim would like to thank all of our supporters who took a stand for the independence of Britain and Israel. Our "Support Israel-Leave Europe" campaign generated a tremendous response and undoubtedly contributed to the Brexit result. Now that Britain has voted to leave the EU, we pray the EU will leave Israel.

"The European Union should immediately stop its illegal building on Israeli land, stop funding anti-Israel NGOs and allowing European taxpayers' money to bankroll Palestinian terrorists. Above all, it is time that the EU focus on its own problems and cease its unhealthy anti-Semitic obsession with Israel.

"Regavim is a legal advocacy organization, dedicated to ensuring responsible, legal and accountable use of Israel's national land. By investigating claims on the ground level, Regavim protects national land interests, presenting its findings in the form of white papers and legal action, in addition to briefing the press and diplomatic corps. Regavim has launched the "Support Israel-Leave Europe" campaign following years of legal battles against the European Union and their well-funded NGO proxies to encourage Israel supporters to take a stand against the EU."

6. TRUMP COULD SUPPORT ANNEXING JUDEA AND SAMARIA, SAYS ADVISER
by Ido Ben Porat

David Friedman, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's co-adviser on Israeli affairs, believes that Trump would support Israel annexing parts of Judea and Samaria, should he be elected.

In an interview with Haaretz, Friedman said that Trump would not adopt the stance that a Palestinian state is in the United States' national interest, which was adopted by both Barack Obama and George W. Bush.

Trump is also not concerned about the possibility of a bi-national state. "Nobody really knows how many Palestinians live there," said Friedman, a 57-year-old Jewish man, has worked with Trump for the past 15 years.

As for the Republican candidate's drop in polls, he was not concerned and claimed, "Things are not going downhill. Everything is fine."

"The polls are extremely fluid. They don't mean much at this point. People who study the polls tell us it is pretty even right now. There is a lot of work to do but nobody is discouraged by the polling," he added.

Asked whether Trump supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, Friedman replied, "The answer is – not without the approval of the Israelis."

"This is an issue that Israel has to deal with on its own because it will have to deal with the consequences," he continued. "[Trump's] feeling about Israel is that it is a robust democracy. The Israelis have to make the decision on whether or not to give up land to create a Palestinian state. If the Israelis don't want to do it, so he doesn't think they should do it. It is their choice. ... He does not think it is an American imperative for it to be an independent Palestinian state. "

Friedman said that Trump's support for Israeli construction in Judea and Samaria stemmed from his understanding that the Israeli government "has a commitment to its citizens in Judea and Samaria" who moved out there with its agreement. Trump, according to Friedman, said Israel has to continue to build in Judea and Samaria because there is no reason not to do so.

Israelis "don't have to wait another generation for the Palestinians to hold more realistic expectations and show less hostile motivation," Friedman told Haaretz. "Trump's position is that we have to deal with reality and not hopes and wishes."

Asked whether he thinks Trump would object to Israel annexing parts of Judea and Samaria, Friedman replied, "I think there are parts of the West Bank that will stay part of Israel in any peace deal. I am sure he wouldn't have any problem with that at all. Regarding the entire West Bank I think that's a legal issue. I don't think he will have a problem with that but he would expect Israel to continue seeking peace. He has no doubt that Israel wants peace."

7. HELEN MIRREN SUPPORTS ISRAEL, BLASTS BDS
by Ben Ariel

Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren, who is visiting Israel where she hosted the Genesis Prize award ceremony on Thursday, has expressed support for Israel and rejected efforts to boycott it, The Associated Press reported.

Mirren on Wednesday showered Israeli artists with praise and said she opposed both the efforts by pro-Palestinian groups to boycott them and the decision of some international artists to shun Israel.

"I think that art is an incredibly important way of communication," she was quoted by AP as having said at a press event in Jerusalem. "The artists of the country are the people you need to communicate with and make a relationship with and learn from and build upon. So I absolutely don't believe in the boycott, and here I am."

Mirren, who is not Jewish, has visited Israel several times, and has been a vocal critic of pro-Palestinian activists who have called for a cultural boycott of Israel. The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has enlisted the support of such artists as Roger Waters and has persuaded Elvis Costello, Lauren Hill and other performers to call off concerts in Israel.

At the same time, many artists and actors have rejected calls to boycott Israel, including Dionne Warwick, Alan Parsons and Kevin Costner, among others.

Last October Mirren was honored at the 29th Israel Film Festival at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, where she revealed how her first visit to the Jewish state shaped her career.

Hearkening back to her stay in Israel, the British actress said at the time, "I was thinking about the building blocks that lead you to becoming the person you will become. I was thinking that my visit to Israel in those days was a part, not a direct connection, but it's absolutely a part of the building blocks that have made me the actress I am and doing the kind of work that I do."

On Wednesday, noted AP, she stressed that she is "a believer in Israel ... I think this is an extraordinary country filled with very, very extraordinary people. It's just a lucky, for me, accident in my life that I have had this privilege."

8. 'PALESTINIANS WERE CREATED TO CAUSE TROUBLE FOR JEWS'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

=
A man calling himself WIld Bill described his support for Israel in a video that is going viral.

"We all know that Islam is giving the world a lot of things that will be long remembered. They invented the fine art of skyjacking, suicide bombers and taqiya - the art of lying to infidels," he began.

"They are the only religion to develop a preschool program where the children sing about exterminating Jews and I do believe they are the only ones to demolish two skyscrapers while 3,000 people were still inside. Yes, Islam has a long and proud history of doing things that nobody else does.

"But by far the most creative invention of Islam is the Palestinian: a person who has never been seen before in the modern world who supposedly lived in a nation that never existed. The Palestinian was invented shortly after the nation of Israel sprang into existence as the new name for the traditional home of the Jewish people.

"Now, prior to the invention of the Palestinian, the Arab nations had been lusting for the land of the Jews because the hardworking Jewish people had transformed the desert land into a well-irrigated and beautiful oasis and the Arabs decided they wanted it.

"So in the traditional Muslim style, they sent in massive armies to massacre the Jews and steal their land. But the Israelis stomped the living doogy-doo out of them and sent the Arabs fleeing back across the border like a bunch of whipped puppy dogs. And they've been afraid of the Israelis ever since.

"But prior to the invasion, the Arabs warned all the Jordanians, Syrians and Lebanese living in Israel to get out. They constantly told them that within a few days they could waltz right back in and take over the homes of the exterminated Jews. But when the Arab armies failed to capture even one Jewish home, the Arabs who left had no place to go. And that's when the Muslims invented 'the Palestinian'. They told the Jordanians, Syrians and Lebanese that they are now Palestinians and that they were to spread the story that the Jews had stolen their homeland from them, leaving them as poor refugees. Now the idiots at the United Nations bought that line hook line and sinker and American liberals, also being idiots, joined right in. And the Palestinian came into existence with the express purpose of causing trouble for Israel.

"So today when we hear of liberals whining that the Jews are illegally occupying the land of poor Palestinians, that is nothing but a big pile of horse puckey, and I can prove it. The next time you talk to one of these supporters of these poor Palestinians, ask them a few questions. Like, what year did the nation of Palestine come into existence? What were its national borders and what year did it cease to exist? Since it never existed in the first place, they won't be able to answer you.

"But don't stop there. Ask them what currency did the nation of Palestine use and why is there no history of it? And ask them if they can name one leader of the nation of Palestinian prior to Yassir Arafat. Of course, these questions tend to force liberals to face the truth.

"Now, normal people, when confronted with truth, tend to change their opinion if necessary. But don't expect this from American liberals. Truth just makes them angry. Now it is crystal clear who the good guys are in this conflict and, as an American, i am proud to stand with Israel against the liars and murderers of the Middle East. as an American i am ashamed that our liberals tend to take the side of the liars and the murderers of the Middle East."
