1. Jews now forbidden to carry Four Species on Temple Mountby Tzvi Lev Jews ascending the Temple Mount on the upcoming Sukkot holiday will be forbidden from bringing the "Four Species" with them, police have decided, ruling that doing so would violate the status quo that prohibits Jewish prayer. The "Four Species" are the etrog (citrus) hadas (myrtle), the aravah (willow) and the Lulav (palm frond) that are mandated by the Torah to be used in special prayers that are part of the synagogue services on each of the seven days of the holiday of Sukkot, excepting the Sabbath. Police Attorney Michael Frankenburg responded to an appeal arguing that that barring the Four Species violated freedom of worship by ruling that bringing the articles to the Temple Mount goes against the status quo on the site, which forbids Jewish prayer. Frankenburg wrote that " in the framework of the rules governing the Temple Mount, in accordance with the status quo existing in the place, it is prohibited to visibly conduct Jewish ritual activity, including carrying the Four Species. We are forced to deny your request." The current status quo on the Temple Mount explicitly forbids Jewish prayer. In recent years, police have banned Jews from bringing any articles that might cause a Jew to pray, such as banning visitors from carrying drinking water over suspicions that it will lead one to say a blessing. 2. Father-in-law of Mexico's Chief Rabbi killed in earthquakeby Tzvi Lev The bodies of one of the missing Jews in Mexico has been found. ZAKA-Kedana announced that they had found the body of Rabbi Chaim Ashkenazi at a collapsed building in Mexico City during the Rosh Hashanah holiday. Rabbi Chaim Ashkenazi, the father-in-law of Mexico's Chief Rabbi Shlomo Tawil, was apparently trapped under the rubble after Tuesday's 7.1 magnitude earthquake rocked Mexico City. "After Shabbat ended, we received an update from our team in Mexico that the missing Jew was indeed found dead. Our team was in the area from the moment of the earthquake until they received an update that there are no more missing Jews" said ZAKA International Director Mati Goldstein. A Jewish man residing in Mexico City told the Behadrei Haredim internet site that "the body was found an hour after the holiday started. The search was carried out by haredi Jews, some of them rescue workers, who hoped to find him alive, or at least not to be found alive. His son and wife were there when the body was found. " ZAKA-Kedanah had worked frantically throughout the holiday to find the two missing Jews after a series of earthquakes left Mexico reeling. "Since Wednesday night, ZAKA has been working in places where buildings collapsed and local Jews are unaccounted for," said ZAKA Mexico director Marcus Cain. "Finding missing Jews is a mission of utmost importance. We will not cease searching until we succeed in finding them." On Saturday, an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit Mexico City. No damage or injuries were reported. Meanwhile, the number of dead from Mexico's previous earthquake reached 300. At least 157 of those killed were in Mexico City. 20 children and two adults were found dead in a neighborhood school. Another 30 children and 12 adults are still missing. 115 people were rescued from the rubble. The earthquake measured 7.1 on the Richter scale. 3. 'Relationship with Israel is extremely important'by Eliran Aharon, New York [youtube:2033137] Dr. Joseph Frager spoke with New York State assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, who is the Republican nominee in the mayoral election in the city of New York. She described the relationship between the United States and Israel as “extremely important” and added, “Israel is our most dependable ally in the Middle East. We share so many common interests, we share so many concerns, whether it be security, whether it be economic.” “The relationship between New York and Tel Aviv, the relationship between the United States and Israel is so strong and we need to keep it that way,” said Malliotakis, who added that the Iran nuclear deal is “detrimental to both countries.” “As someone who is of Cuban descent, I realized that President Obama was not the best negotiator, and that not only proved true with the Iran deal but it proved true in giving the store away to the Castro regime and not getting anything in return for the Cuban people,” she added. Malliotakis stressed the importance that “elected officials, at all levels of government – city, state and federal – show support for Israel, show support for the relationship between the two, and that can’t be anymore emphasized throughout this process.” Malliotakis, who has never been to Israel, expressed hopes that she could visit the Jewish state after the election. “We need to continue to create partnerships where possible, because it’s important for the economic vitality of both of our cities and nations.” “I want to wish my Jewish friends a happy new year, a healthy and prosperous year to come.” 4. Haredi Minister heckled by Satmar Jews in Monseyby Tzvi Lev Deputy Education Minister Meir Porush (UTJ) was involved in an unpleasant situation in Monsey when members of the Satmar hassidic sect burst into the Synagogue during prayers and hurled insults. Porush had spent the Rosh Hashanah holiday in New York's Vitznitz-Monsey community. On Shabbat, he was in the middle of Shabbat prayers when a band of Hassidic Jews identified with Satmar started to yell at him for "destroying the Jewish people through the forced IDF draft." Police were summoned to the scene and hauled off the hecklers. Earlier, large notices were plastered across Monsey ahead of Porush's visit. "Once more, one of the greatest collaborators with the destroyers of God in our holy land came to our town in Monsey, to bring yeshiva students to the destruction camps of the IDF, and to instill heresy in our educational institutions. With every step he takes, he destroys the wall separating Torah and the Zionist poison" read the missives. The notices also discussed the fact the Porush brought along his son to America, Elad mayor Yisrael Porush, calling him "one of the most evil and impure people alive." The virulently anti-Zionist Satmar sect is often at loggerheads with haredi politicians in Israel, who they deem "collaborators with the Zionist regime." In June, one of the Satmar Grand Rabbi's told 20,000 Jews at an anti-Israel rally that "haredi politicians were taking coalition bribes." "Five years ago, when the evil decree drafting yeshiva boys was made, the entire haredi world made noise and fought against it," the Satmar Rebbe said. "Now, when they're part of the government and they receive enormous budgets, they can't see the truth anymore." "Bribery blinds the eyes of the wise, and they no longer see the evilness of the decree." 5. Over 1,000 treated in Uman by United Hatzalahby Arutz Sheva Staff United Hatzalah volunteers in Uman, Ukraine have treated more than 1,000 people since Tuesday and over the course of Rosh Hashanah and Shabbat. Many of the people treated were sent for continued care in the medical clinic established by the Breslov community of Uman. Cases included dehydration, light injuries, fainting, falling from high places, burns, cuts, respiratory problems, and injuries sustained by people hiking or walking the roads and pathways in and around the city. Avi Tennenbaum, an EMT first responder who was at Uman for the holiday said, "Some 50,000 Jews gathered this year in the city which resembles one in a third world country to celebrate the holiday near the grave of Rebbe Nachman. Our volunteers responded to more than 1,000 calls in just a few days and worked around the clock to provide medical first aid services to those in need. I myself responded to more than 25 calls over the holiday, more than a few of which were literally life-threatening." Tennenbaum, who on top of volunteering as an EMT was also appointed the organization's Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit head for the Uman mission, explained that many of the injuries were related to the Uman experience. "It was remarkable to see the nature of injuries which came in and be able to trace a good many of them back to the Uman experience. Asthma attacks skyrocketed because of the polluted air in Uman, those with food allergies came in droves because they were eating food which they were not used to, adults and children fell off two meter high bunk beds they were renting during their stay. There were those with breaks, sprains, gashes, and lacerations from metal objects lying around or on the building rooftops as they climbed up to the roofs to watch the action. "There were also overdoses by people who tried a little too hard to have a good time, terrible stomach pains for those who drank the local water or had food poisoning. Add diabetics who weren't eating right and whose sugar was too high or too low because of the different mealtime schedule, several searches for missing people in the small hours of the night - and then the regular calls for chest pains, strokes, and more. “The volunteers overcame incredible obstacles to save lives time and again over the course of the holiday. I am so proud to be part of United Hatzalah, whose only goal is to save lives, working with people who demonstrate over and over their genius, ingenuity, flexibility, and ability to overcome all odds and save lives." 6. Watch: Radical leftist sabotages UC Berkeley press conferenceby Gil Ronen Most of the events planned this week at UC Berkeley by conservative students for “Free Speech Week” have been cancelled at the last minute. The conservative student group Berkeley Patriot, which organized the event, which was to take place for four days starting today, Sunday, backed out Saturday, and said that they would make do with a protest march to be held today. According to the group, the university intentionally created bureaucratic obstacles for the event, did not respond to emails, set impossible deadlines, allowed radical leftist groups to incite against the organizers in classrooms, and even condoned physical attacks against right-wing students. In addition, the university threatened legal action against the organizers over certain chalk writings on the outskirts of the campus and flyers distributed ahead of the event. According to the student group, the university had claimed the writings were “hate speech.” The group filed a complaint with the US Justice Department against the university, asserting that the university had violated its legal right to freedom of expression and equality under the law. University spokesman Dan Mogulof claimed at a press conference that the university had received payment for use of one of its lecture halls, and that the event organizers had returned the money after announcing the cancellation of the event. He claimed that the university had no clue as to why the decision was made to cancel, and said that he was surprised to hear of the cancellation. Berkeley Patriot, on the other hand, is now threatening to sue the university for damage caused to it as a result of the university’s conduct. A glimpse of what is happening behind the scenes at Berkeley can be discerned from the way in which a Maoist-communist named Sunsara Taylor commandeers Mogulof’s press conference. Mogulof - and campus police sitting next to him - did not even try to silence Taylor, and certainly did not distance or arrest her. At a certain point, they simply fled the room. Aside from communism, Taylor is associated with radical feminism. She is active in the organization Stop Patriarchy, and has organized efforts for freedom to have an abortion. Documentation of the press conference illustrates the extent to which campuses in the United States are in the hands of communists and other neo-Marxists - at the forefront of which are radical feminists, which the public can not usually identify as a leftist movement. Taylor accused Trump of using Hitlerian tactics, and expressed rage that he had threatened to destroy North Korea. The first video shows Taylor sabotaging the press conference, while the second video shows her saying that Trump is “more dangerous than Hitler ever could have been.” [youtube:2033160] [youtube:2033161] 7. Czech Army wants to buy Israeli APCby Tzvi Lev The Czech army was highly impressed by the Israeli-made Namer APC, and requested the right to purchase it, the Below The Turret defense magazine reported. According to the report, the Czech army asked Israel to buy the Namer, (Hebrew for "leopard") to replace its aging Soviet-made BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle. The report said further that the Namer was among nine finalists, but Israel didn't respond with a price quote in time for the deadline. The report noted that "at the time of the tender request, the latest version of the Namer fitted with an unmanned turret had not been presented. At that time the only available infantry fighting vehicle configuration of the Namer was limited to a few prototype vehicles fitted with the Samson Mk 1 remote weapon station." "Using this remote weapons station instead of a proper unmanned turret has one major drawback: it is essentially unarmored and can in the worst case be disabled by machine gun fire because the ammunition feed system and parts of the electronics are not covered by any sort of armor." In August, Israel rolled out a new model of the Namer that is outfitted with a 30 mm cannon as part of the IDF's effort to upgrade its urban warfare capabilities. Unlike the Merkava Tank, the cannon in the Namer will not require a soldier to be vulnerable while operating it standing in the turret, also freeing up space and enabling the APC to transport more soldiers. The gun is remotely controlled by soldiers riding inside the belly of the Namer, with the aid of video cameras. The cannon was added to improve the Namer's urban warfare capabilities, something to which the IDF attached top priority after 2014's Operation Protective Edge. Another APC, the 'Eitan', was introduced in July 2016, and is considered more maneuverable in urban warfare settings due to its having tires, as opposed to the more common tank treads. Used by the Golani Brigade, the Namer is the IDF's most fortified APC, significantly more protected then the 'Achzarit' used by the Paratroopers and Givati Brigades, and light years ahead of the Vietnam war-era M113. The Namer uses the same armor as the Merkava Tank, and is outfitted with the same Trophy anti-tank missile protection system. [youtube:2033168] 8.
