1. 'MOMENTS YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND AT ALL'
by Eliran Aharon

[youtube:2021424]Arutz Sheva spoke with residents of Beit Meir about the terrifying and chaotic moments during which the community was engulfed in flames.

One couple related their escape from the burning community: "We got into the car and started to flee the scene. There was a huge fire at the entrance to the community, and we couldn't get out.

"Hundreds of cars there, and we can't get out. We saw the fire right in front of us. Terrifying...

"We saw the giant flames right in front of us. After that more firefighting teams started to arrive...

"They cleared the way for us... and we just traveled, without even seeing where we were going.

Another couple noted: "The uncertainty was very frightening...we heard the police yelling outside...in a couple of minutes we managed to be driving out in our car, but the entrance of the community was blocked."

"That sudden fear that you're lost....

"There's a big traffic jam, everything gets filled with smoke...everybody's choking inside their cars...moments you can't understand at all.

"Everyone is under pressure the police the army...there's no water to put out the fires…there were thirty people trapped in a building."

Residents of Beit Meir, which is just off the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway, were evacuated from their homes, including 300 people at the guest house, most of them to the nearby town of Shoresh, others to their families in other places.

25 firefighting crews worked at the scene to extinguish the flames, and succeeded in doing so shortly before 5:30 a.m.

Police have so far arrested two suspects linked to the arson.

2. US SENDS SUPERTANKER TO HELP ISRAEL FIGHT FIRES
by Gary Willig

The US is sending the largest firefighting aircraft in the world to help Israel fight the wildfires raging around the country.

The Boeing 747-400 Supertanker is considered the most advanced firefighting aircraft in the world. It became operational last spring, replacing the 747-100 Supertanker which the US sent to help Israel fight the 2010 Carmel wildfires.

The Boeing 747-400 is capable of carrying up to 19,600 gallons of water or fire retardant. Unlike other firefighting aircraft, the Supertanker disperses water in a manner similar to falling rain over a wider area, rather than dumping the water over smaller areas. This approach is also safer for firefighters on the ground.

Israel contacted the company Global Super Tanker, which owns and operates the plane, to examine the possibility of it being flown to Israel.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu explained why Israel asked for the Supertanker. "It needs to be understood that the firefighting planes currently being used are not able to operate overnight. There is only one plane that has this ability, and that is the Supertanker. I instructed that it be brought here. It will take 24 hours to come from the US. We only use it in extreme situations. We don't use it for everything but I prefer that we have too much rather than too little."

Israel has turned to other countries for help in dealing with the wildfires, including Russia, Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, and Italy. Israel also turned to France and Portugal for help Friday morning.

About 200 wildfires have been reported across Israel over the past few days. Wildfires in and around the port city of Haifa have forced at least 85,000 residents to evacuate their homes. The damage and destruction to nature - woods, flora and forest creatures - is immeasurable at this point.

3. 'HE WHO BURNS THE STATE OF ISRAEL WILL BE SEVERELY PUNISHED'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

PM Netanyahu addressed today the wave of arson besieging the country during a tour of the Hatzor Airbase near Ashdod.

"We are calling the shots in the battle and deriving lessons concerning how to proceed. When the Supertanker arrives, we will discuss preventative measures with the American pilots," Netanyahu said.

"Police are working overtime and are instructed to bring to justice anyone who sets out to commit arson, 'so that [others] will see and be afraid.'

"Anyone who tries to burn the State of Israel will be severely punished."

It will be remembered that the PM has requested the assistance of a US Supertanker plane to help fight the arson.

4. IDF VETERANS ORGANIZATION TARGETS FOREIGN FUNDED ISRAELI NGO'S
by Gary Willig

Amit Deri, founder and chairman of Reservists on Duty, an advocacy group of IDF veterans, says that his organization's mission is to expose Israeli NGOs which "fuel the system of hate" against Israel "acting under the guise of human rights," according to a report by the Algemeiner.

Reservists on Duty released a report this week detailing the workings of Adalah — The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel. Deri told the Algemeiner that Adalah is an example of an organization which carries out "domestic activities that undermine and delegitimize" the State of Israel.

He said that his organization is working to "bring down" organizations which promote BDS from within Israel.

"We are putting them on notice — that we will be there to expose them."

According to Deri, the primary purpose of Reservists on Duty is to provide Israeli officials and legislators with information to persuade foreign governments and organizations to stop funding Israeli organizations like Adalah which work to undermine Israel from within.

"Policy-makers must understand that Adalah is not about so-called human rights for Arabs and Palestinians, but rather about attacking Israel and the IDF from within, mainly through the country's legal system," he said. "If they are concerned about Palestinian society's human rights, why are they not attacking Hamas and the Palestinian media for glorifying terror? Where is their outcry against the oppression of women, the LGBTQ community and overall religious intolerance? Why do they not take issue with how Palestinian children are being taught to hate Israel?"

Adalah has published a list of 100 Israeli laws it claims are 'discriminatory.' The Institute for Zionist Strategies (IZS) published a detailed, 62 page report refuting Adalah's list in July. Adalah also provided testimony for the UN's Goldstone Report on Operation Cast Lead, which accused Israel of violating international law and violating human rights during the operation. Goldstone himself retracted the report.

5. FIRES GAIN RENEWED STRENGTH IN HAIFA
by Tal Polon

Police have reported that, with the advent of strong winds, fires in Haifa that had been subdued have again started to burn.

"Due to strong winds, a number of sites have started to burn again.

"All the sites are being dealt with by firefighters - on the ground and in the air.

"In the coming hours, police and soldiers will pass again with fire extinguishers over areas in evacuated neighborhoods where fire was previously extinguished but is in danger of returning.

"Police, including covert officers, are working to locate arsonists, and will continue to do so.

"We are asking in the strongest terms that residents not return to their homes until the time there is official permission, be attentive to instructions and prevent extraneous confrontations."

"We are doing everything in our power to return residents to their homes in the safest and quickest manner possible in order not to cause injury."

6. ISLAMIST PLOT TO ATTACK AMSTERDAM SYNAGOGUE UNCOVERED
by Gary Willig

A plot by a Islamic terrorist cell to attack a synagogue in Amsterdam was foiled by Dutch intelligence authorities, according to a report by the Dutch daily, De Telegraaf.

De Telegraaf obtained a dossier from the Dutch Criminal Intelligence Agency (TFI), which described a "James Bond-like plan" to attack a synagogue and a bank.

An individual of Moroccan descent was identified as a member of the cell planning to carry out the terrorist attacks. He and other individuals associated with the Arrayan Mosque in northern Amsterdam are suspected by the TFI of involvement in Islamist radicalization and jihad-related activities.

Awi Cohen, a board member of Likud Netherlands, told the Algemeiner that the plot is the latest evidence of the "very unsafe environment for Jews" in the Netherlands.

"Because of the large influence of the Left and extreme Left in the Netherlands, the problem [of Islamist terror] is not taken seriously enough," Cohen said. "They don't want to acknowledge the problems that come from immigration and 'multiculturalism,' and call issues raised about safety 'Islamophobia.'" Cohen told the Algemeiner.

The Chief Rabbi of the Netherlands Rabbi Binyamin Jacobs told Arutz Sheva several years ago that Jews should simply leave the country as they have no future there..

7. 'IT IS A MITZVAH TO BREAK SHABBAT TO STOP AN ARSONIST'
by Arutz Sheva Staff

Within the context of the fires currently raging around Israel, Chief Rabbi of Tzfat Shmuel Eliyahu was asked how one should behave, according to Jewish law, should one encounter an Arab starting a fire on Shabbat - or any other day of the week.

Jewish law forbids Jews from extinguishing fires on Shabbat - unless risk to human life is involved.

Rabbi Eliyahu replied, "The Prime Minister has defined the fires as terror. One of the heads of the Shin Bet called it a 'weapon of mass destruction.' Miraculously, people were not burned alive - but we don't rely on miracles."

"It is certainly allowed and a mitzvah [divine command] to break the Shabbat in order to stop a fire and perpetrators of fires. And if needed - shoot at them.

"I hope that the IDF Chief of Staff and Police Chief will give clear instructions to soldiers and police and civilians which make it understood that the fires are not over - it is their responsibility to do so."

8. WATCH: CHASE AFTER MAN DRIVING ON WRONG SIDE OF HIGHWAY
by Arutz Sheva Staff

[youtube:2021432][youtube:2021433]

Police succeeded in arresting a man driving against the direction of traffic on Route 65 in the direction of Wadi Ara near Haifa.

The man, a resident of Hadera who is apparently mentally unstable, hit several police vehicles during his attempt to escape from police.

The man was detained for questioning.
