1. TRUMP TO VISIT WESTERN WALL?
by Arutz Sheva Staff

US President Donald Trump will arrive in Israel on May 22 for a two-day trip. He will stay in Jerusalem's King David Hotel, and will visit the Palestinian Authority while he is in Israel.

Thousands of additional security personnel will be deployed to the capital, under the authority of Jerusalem Division Head Police Major General Yoram Halevi.

Trump's expected visit to the Western Wall may present a security challenge, and in the coming days Israel will make its decision on how to handle the challenge.

Trump is scheduled to arrive one day after the Culture and Sport Ministry's event marking 50 years since the liberation of Jerusalem. This will be the largest event in several years, and turnout is expected to top 30,000.

Trump will depart Israel the day prior to Jerusalem Day.

"Yad Lebanim," the association for the families of fallen IDF soldiers, sent a request to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

In their request, they wrote, "Please bring President Trump to the new memorial hall on Mount Herzl, and not just to Yad Vashem."

In a letter to both Netanyahu and Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev (Likud), Yad Lebanim Director Eli Ben Shem wrote, "This is an historical opportunity for both President Trump and the State of Israel to honor the bereaved families."

In the April 30 memorial ceremony, "the country's leaders promised to remember, and not to forget," Ben Shem wrote. "It is appropriate for each important visitor to honor our sons' legacy, the same legacy which built the State of Israel."

2. NATIONALITY LAW APPROVED IN MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE
by Mordechai Sones

The Nationality Law was approved at noon today (Sunday) by the Ministerial Committee on Legislation at the initiative of acting committee chairman, Tourism Minister Yariv Levin.

The bill was initiated by MK Avi Dichter (Likud), but due to various disagreements, its advancement has been long stuck in committee.

The proposal anchors the fact that the State of Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people and states that Hebrew is the official language of the state, while the Arabic language is granted "special status". The city of Jerusalem is affirmed the capital of the State of Israel.

Minister Levin explained that the ministerial committee's decision was meant to put an end to delays in enacting the law. "Today I decided to put an end to the committee's foot-dragging and approve the Nationality Law.

"For too long we have attempted to discuss and decide about the law - a basic law that is not clear how it has not been anchored in legislation until now, the simple purpose of which is to protect Israel's status as the state of the Jewish People.

"The waiting period is over," declared the Tourism Minister. "The proposal will be promoted and prepared as a government proposal in the current Knesset session."

3. 'PROSECUTION LACKS COURAGE TO BACK DOWN'
by Mordechai Sones

MK Mickey Rosenthal ("Zionist Camp") claimed today that according to information he received, the police has decided to recommend indictments against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

"The police have been asked to complete these and other investigations, but the police have decided to recommend indictments against Netanyahu on two counts - for accepting a forbidden gift and for breaching trust," said Rosenthal at a "Culture Shabbat" in Modi'in.

"The Attorney General still stands between the police recommendation and the indictment. There have been cases in the past, even cases involving Netanyahu in the Amadi affair and in other cases, which eventually came to a police recommendation, and ended with a public report and not a recommendation to prosecute ... I do not know how it will end this time, but I know what the police are going to recommend. You'll be able to check if I was right in about two-and-a-half months." In the Amadi affair, Netanyahu was suspected of exploiting his position as prime minister to obtain benefits from a trucker, Avner Amadi.

A response to MK Rosenthal was released on behalf of the Prime Minister: "One could think, 'What a surprise.' After two months of police leaks that they will recommend trial, does anyone think they will have the courage to climb down from the tree and admit there was nothing? As for the new spokesman for the police speaking on his own behalf, Mickey Rosenthal, and his left-wing colleagues, we say - seek your salvation elsewhere."

4. MINISTERS APPROVE FINANCE MINISTER'S PLAN TO AID WORKING PARENTS
by Hezki Baruch

The Knesset's Ministerial Committee on Legislation approved Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon's (Kulanu) plan to give working parents additional tax credits, amounting to 215 NIS per month.

The new tax credits are part of Kahlon's "All for the Family" plan, which also includes canceling taxes on cell phones, baby clothes, shoes, and other items.

Currently, Israeli men receive tax credits for children from the time they are born until they are three years old. Israeli women receive half a point from the time the child is born until he or she is one year old, and 2 points from when the child turns one until the child turns five.

The Finance Minister's plan concentrates on two sectors of Israeli society: Families with children who earn little enough that they are eligible to receive negative income tax; and middle-class families with children who earn enough to be paying income tax.

"All for the family" is an additional step in Kahlon's plan to reduce the cost of living and strengthen Israel's job market. His aim is to strengthen Israel's "middle class" and reduce poverty by raising the amount of money working parents take home at the end of the day.

The plan was approved despite internal disagreements within the coalition and Coalition Chairman David Bitan's (Likud) threat that approving Kahlon's plan would harm the government's ability to raise disability stipends.

5. DISCUSSION OF 'SABBATH LAW' POSTPONED BY MONTH
by Mordechai Sones

The Knesset Ministerial Committee on Legislation decided to postpone the discussion of the Sabbath Bill, initiated by MK Mickey Zohar of the Likud in cooperation with Knesset members Rachel Azaria (Kulanu), Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid), and Manuel Trachtenberg ("Zionist Camp").

The reason for the postponement is apparently the resolute opposition of the Shas and United Torah Judaism parties to advancing the proposal, which they claim would undermine the status quo on the issue of Shabbat in the State of Israel.

Shas chairman Aryeh Deri, who is sitting shiva for his mother Esther, spoke this morning (Sunday) with heads of the haredi parties, Minister Yaakov Litzman and MK Moshe Gafni.

The conversation with Litzman took place when he came to comfort Deri over his mother's death. Deri agreed with the two that the haredi parties should strongly oppose the Sabbath Bill in the government, in light of the desecration of the Sabbath's holiness inherent in the bill.

In the conversation, Deri clarified that the haredi parties should inform Minister Yariv Levin, who heads the meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Legislation, that they are vetoing the proposal.

7. BOTH OF OUR PARENTS HAVE TERRIBLE DISEASES

Leah Ashkenazi's family was catapulted into a state of chaos when her husband was diagnosed with cancer last year. The family's insurance policy reportedly does not cover Mr Ashkenazi's expensive & painful treatments. Now solely responsible for her four children while her husband fought his battle with disease, the family was catapulted into poverty.

However despite the already tragic nature of their circumstances, more devastating news was brewing beneath the surface. Recently Leah was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The family now has to bear the weight of two sets of uninsured and painful medical treatments. The four Ashkenazi children now have two parents suffering from critical illness.

Ms. Ashkenazi launched a fundraising campaign this week, in hopes of meeting some of her family's needs. Video footage on the campaign page shows the desperate plea of a young mother with tired eyes.

"I'm asking you personally, please help me rebuild my family," she says, before giving donors a blessing that they should never need to beg.
