1. SPECIAL INTERVIEW: MOSHE FEIGLIN RETURNS TO THE RING
by Yoni Kempinski
[youtube:2025125]
Moshe Feiglin, former Knesset member, founder and candidate to head the Zehut ("Identity") party, imparts his political, economic, and social philosophy in an exclusive and extended interview with Arutz Sheva.
Feiglin is not hesitant to say he is preparing for elections and says the government is in its final stretch: "An average government in Israel serves two-and-a-half years, so we are in the final stretch of an average term and this conference brings Zehut into the political dialogue. We will vote in the convention using the primary system. Following the conference we will create tools such as a political slogan and campaign slogans. This conference is going to be unique, full of passion and culture, joy and hope."
The interview was conducted on the eve of the first party conference to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv port. In anticipation of the convention Feiglin explains why he is returning to politics after a brief tenure as a Likud Knesset member and then retirement for the sake of establishing a new movement: "There is a message that burns in my bones and a mission that the State Israel must fulfill. When it got stuck and entangled in the Likud, we created a new mechanism. Politics is not the end but a means to the destination to which we are moving."
Regarding criticism voiced by many on the right that Zehut is leading to further fragmentation among the ranks of the right, Feiglin aggressively responds: "Those who destroyed Amona and Gush Katif and Yamit back then were the same ones calling upon us not to split. It wasn't the Supreme Court as many among us unfortunately try to convince us. It was not the left and not Obama and Trump; it was us, the Right, or rather the right-wing politicians. There are thousands of houses across the country that have demolition orders against them. Why have they not begun to destroy them? Why do they go after the Jews first? Why in those cases does the honorable Supreme Court not intervene?
"I do not feel that I'm causing division, I feel like I'm introducing a great force into politics; serious and meaningful with direction and the ability to cope with these pressures of the left. Because we come with a very clear program and a platform of more than three hundred pages. Anyone who followed my activities in the Knesset knows that I always knew where the red lines are. I would not stay a minute in a government that destroyed villages, and here the Right is on the inside, even trying to describe us how it was able to pass this law that is clear to everyone won't pass the High Court. Only Zehut provides direction and the real ideological power that stands behind it, for the Israeli Right."
How do you characterize Zehut?
"Connecting Jewish identity on the one hand, with all the freedoms which the Jewish people stand for on the other, a connection that produces a very wide range of potential activists and voters. Our headquarters in Tel Aviv has people coming and going from all sectors of the population".
Is it true that even some Meretz people support you?
"It is true enough for Yediot to write an article about it Saturday. The head of our Eilat branch (we have over 20 branches across the country) previously ran the Meretz branch in Eilat for many years. He belongs to an old and ideological Meretz family. But when this connection between identity and the freedom to create was made, they found their place with us in Zehut. We are of course not a leftist party. We are the party with the greatest determination to keep the Land of Israel that there is, but yes, we are open to the entire population."
Feiglin emphasizes that the value of liberalism emblazoned on his party's flag is a Jewish value that passed as our tradition since Mount Sinai.
The Zehut party leader explains why his party is the only true Democratic Party today in Israel: "First, I submitted my candidacy together with registered members of the party, we are going to hold primaries, and we are going to vote on the primaries method where there will also be a stage two before the election in which all the citizens of Israel will be able to rank the candidates on the list. We are talking about a truly democratic party that turns to all citizens, not just this or that sector."
Feiglin again attacked Netanyahu, with whom he strove time and again during his membership in the Likud. Feiglin accuses Netanyahu of sideswiping the US President from the left: "Unfortunately things are evolving just as I warned. It's not difficult to understand, and US officials have talked about it, Netanyahu is the one who prevented Trump from moving the embassy to Jerusalem, and it is Netanyahu who repeatedly steers Trump to the idea of two states."
Feiglin also compares acting Prime Minister Netanyahu with former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon: "In a situation where the Likud Prime Minister is under investigation, it seems the Israeli Right would do well to shake off their euphoria and recall another prime minister, the most right-wing we ever had, before the disengagement. This combination of a Likud Prime Minister and an American President who flows with whatever Netanyahu gives him, add to that the investigations against Netanyahu, all these vectors should turn on all the red lights for whoever learned a little of his own history."
Feiglin's political philosophy has been formulated since his Likud days and he recounts it: "Zehut's political program is detailed in a very orderly fashion in our platform: Applying Israeli sovereignty in all parts of the Land of Israel in our hands from the sea to the Jordan River. Residents are offered three options: 1) A generous and orderly migration package using some of the funds we invested in the mad Oslo process. 2) Those wishing to stay and have no background in terrorism and recognize Israel's sovereignty openly and officially, may remain as permanent residents, not citizens but with all human rights and without the right to vote. 3) Individuals wishing to serve in the IDF, pledge allegiance, and tie their fate to the Zionist vision like the Druze, also will be clear for a process that can also involve citizenship."
2. 'ALLOW THE BABIES TO RETURN HOME'
by Hezki Baruch
MK Haim Jelin (Yesh Atid), who heads the Knesset's Israel-Mexico Union, asked Mexico's Carlos Arrieta to intervene in the crisis created by Mexico's new surrogacy laws.
Under Mexico's new policy, three Israeli fathers who paid Mexican surrogates to have their babies cannot bring those babies home, since Mexico refuses to release the babies' birth certificates.
In Jelin's letter, he wrote, "TOur countries share a deep respect and a strong connection. We would like to come to a mutually approved agreement, which will allow the Israeli fathers and their babies to return to Israel without breaking local Mexican laws.
"The recent policy change, which came into effect a year ago, led the Mexican authorities to refuse to grant birth certificates to the babies who were born to Israeli citizens through Mexican surrogacy. The Israelis and their babies are currently trapped in Mexico, without financial resources or proper health care.
"Israeli representatives are willing to sit with the local authorities to find a solution which will allow these babies to return to their homes in Israel.
"Since our two countries have deep connections and we work parallel and as partners, I am asking your help in bringing this crisis to a close and aiding these Israeli families."
This is not the first time Israeli fathers have run into issues taking babies born to surrogates abroad home to Israel. In 2014, Israeli authorities warned citizens not to use Thai surrogates, since the babies are considered Thai citizens in every sense.
3. WHAT LURKS WITHIN AN INNOCENT CANE?
by Ido Ben-Porat
Israeli police operating in the Western Wall plaza were called on Friday to the security post at the entrance to the Wall after a suspicious object was found in the possession of a 60-year-old tourist.
Examining police officers found the tourist's walking stick to contain a sword.
Police interrogated the tourist and heard from her that since she has trouble walking in the alleys of the Old City, she acquired in one of the shops a walking stick to get around with, which she used until arriving at the security post at the Western Wall's entrance.
The tourist was shocked to see the sword hidden in the cane and told investigators where the concealed sword was purchased.
Investigators responded to the tourist's request to get her cane back, but not before removing the sword. They then returned it to her to enable her to continue to walking and moving around safely.

5. REPORT: ISIS PLANNING 'MASS TERROR ATTACKS' IN BRITAIN
by Chana Roberts
ISIS terrorists are planning "indiscriminate attacks in innocent civilians" in Britain, reported British terrorism watchdog head.
British expert on terrorism laws Attorney Max Hill told the Sunday Telegraph, "In terms of the threat that's represented, I think the intensity and the potential frequency of serious plot planning – with a view to indiscriminate attacks on innocent civilians of whatever race or color in metropolitan areas – represents an enormous ongoing risk that none of us can ignore.
"So I think that there is undoubtedly significant ongoing risk which is at least as great as the threat to London in the 70s when the IRA were active on the mainland."
British Security Minister Ben Wallace said, "Experts have warned that their ambition is a mass casualty attack and they have no moral barrier to using whatever means possible.
"The ambition of ISIS or Daesh is definitely mass casualty attacks. They want to harm as many people as possible and terrorize as many people as possible.
"They have no moral objection to using chemical weapons against populations and if they could, they would in this country.
"The casualty figures which could be involved would be everybody's worst fear. We have certainly seen reports of them using it in Syria and Iraq (and) we have certainly seen aspiration for it in Europe."
Wallace also warned of traitors, "There are traitors. We have to be on our guard for the enemy within. The insider threat, as we would call it, is real and it can be exploited and there are people trying to do that as we speak."
He also warned ISIS cells in Morroco, Syria, and Iraq owned substances which could be used to make either a bomb or a "deadly toxin."
British security officials have repeatedly warned that ISIS may target Britain after losing ground in Iraq and Syria.
6. 'I WON'T LET THE JUSTICE MINISTER HURT THE COALITION'
by Hezki Baruch
Coalition Chairman David Bitan (Likud) on Sunday slammed Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked (Jewish Home) for 'harming the coalition' by 'misusing' her position as Ministerial Committee for Legislation Chairwoman.
"It's a shame journalists are still responding to Shaked's commands," Bitan said, refuting rumors that the coalition had refused to pass social benefits.
"I will not allow the Justice Minister to harm the Likud, UTJ, Yisrael Beytenu, or Shas. This is an ideological disagreement the Knesset has with the Legislation Committee. We need to coordinate our actions appropriately.
"No harm will befall any social laws. We have appointed a separate committee to decide what our priorities should be. And even if a law proposal is pushed off for a few weeks, no harm will be done.
"The law lengthening maternity leave from 14 weeks to 15 weeks is still being legislated, and it will take time. If it has waited 68 years, it can wait another week for us to iron out the plans which will allow several other social laws to pass, despite the Justice Ministry's opposition to the matter."
7. 6 ORPHANS IN DIRE POVERTY LAUNCH EMERGENCY FAMILY FUND
by Kupat Ha'ir
Last Friday, the orphans of 'the Y. family' opened an emergency campaign, begging for help. Their mother, who has been living with multiple sclerosis for over a decade, previously relied on the help of her husband to watch after their children. Two weeks ago, Rabbi 'Y' died suddenly, leaving the household in a state of devastation & poverty. See their full plea below:
[youtube:2025103]
Hello,
We are the orphans of the Y. family.
Our mommy is very, very sick. We don't know how long she will live, but there is no cure for what she has. She has muscle spasms, she can't walk normally, and she is terrible pain.
That's why, until now, our father watched us kids around the house. We're 12 kids, 6 married, and 6 at home. Two weeks ago, our father died. While my siblings and I held each other, and cried until we couldn't cry anymore, we couldn't help but wonder - what will be?
We are so poor. Mommy is too sick to work. With Daddy gone, how will we eat? Where will we live?
There isn't a clearer way to put it: My siblings and I are scared.
We are hungry, grieving, and truly, truly poor.
If you can please find it in your heart to donate to our emergency family fund, it will mean the difference between pangs of hunger in my younger siblings' stomachs, and a hot meal on Shabbat (Sabbath).
It can mean the difference between being the orphan with the torn and stained clothes at school, and not having to feel ashamed of our appearances. It can mean the difference between homelessness, out on the street with a mother who cannot walk, and a warm home to live in.
You can save our lives. Please don't turn us away.
Thank you, and bez"H you should never have to live through the suffering we are experiencing.
S.Y.

8. ARAB WOMAN CONVICTED OF ASSAULTING MK MUALEM
by Shlomo Pietrekovski
Jerusalem Magistrate's Court convicted today (Tuesday) an Arab woman who attacked MK Shuli Mualem as she visited the Temple Mount.
According to the indictment the attacker, Sachar Natshe, shouted at Mualem "go away" and "Allah Akbar" as she pushed her and prevented her from entering the compound.
The incident took place in November, 2014, when Mualem ascended the Temple Mount, as she has done before and after, until the ban on Knesset members ascending the Mount was announced.
When Mualem came to Mount she was surrounded by dozens of women screaming and chanting to prevent her from visiting the Mount, and one of them actually attacked her.
The assailant was indicted today.
